GENERAL

Race 4. Stewards accepted trainer T. Edmonds reason for the late declaration of rider on READY TO SCHIPP.

When apprentice C. Bellamy was riding at the Doomben race meeting, she was replaced on LITTLE BUNJI (race 3) and SIR ZINO (race 5) as per the Stewards summary. Trainer V. McLennan was reminded of her obligations to ensure riders are properly engaged before declaring them to ride.

Stewards approved the following overweight requests:
Race 1. D. Peisley +0.5kg
Race 4. B. Lerena +0.5kg
Race 7. D. Boutet +1kg


RACE 1: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres

PROFITEUR'S FIL – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

RUN FOR THE GIRLS – Began awkwardly.

WEST COAST – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RUN LIKE A GIRL – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m, and over the final 100m continued to lay in with apprentice E. Lang unable to fully test her mount.

ZIA MARIA – Over raced in the early stages. When the pace eased leaving the 800m shifted away from the heels of PROFITEUR’S FIL (C. Bennett). Rider C. Bennett was advised to exercise more care. Raced greenly in the middle stages.

ZOULINI – Raced wide throughout.


RACE 2: CORNETTS SUPERMARKET MAIDEN PLATE 1540 Metres

HE IS THE KISS – Rider K. Zechner stated that his mount travelled well to the home turn but he was mindful of the gelding only having a short sprint and for this reason he didn’t place full pressure on his mount until near the 150m, and felt that his mount performed better when not pressured with the whip. Stewards noted K. Zechner’s comments.

ZAYYANO (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance, rider B. Lerena advised that the gelding raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

FRENCH RIVIERA – Severely hampered after the start and lost ground when tightened between PRIZE WITNESS and TSZUYA. Raced keenly in the early stages.

THE HOPESTAR – Began awkwardly.

TSZYUYA – Began awkwardly.

HAPPY COFFEE – Trainer J. Moore was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting HAPPY COFFEE with red earmuffs over the bridle before being directed by Stewards to return to the stalls and refit that gear under the bridle. Due to time constraints, Stewards allowed red earmuffs to be used in this instance, however, Mr Moore was advised that racing earmuffs must be of a colour other than red in future. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the finish.


RACE 3: GOLD COAST FAMILY ROOMS MAIDEN PLATE 1150 Metres

The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes when SEALORD contacted a fence on its way to the barriers. Jockey B. Lerena was assessed by QAS officials after complaining of some pain in his left foot and was cleared to fulfill his engagement. SEALORD underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

MUSUMECI – Bumped on jumping.

SEALORD (NZ) – Slow to begin.

HURKLE DURKLE – Began awkwardly. Cast both fore plates.

KODOMARI – As the filly had not raced for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.

LILSISTERDON'TCHA – Over raced in the early stages.

SIKKA - Apprentice E. Lang plead guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 14 times in totality. E. Lang’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing at the conclusion of a previous suspension, midnight the 25th of May 2026 until midnight the 1st of June 2026.

LITTLE BUNJI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Taree on the 12th of May and was cleared to start. Tightened between runners on jumping. Approaching the 800m, raced in restricted room and steadied to the inside of SEALORD which was taken in marginally by MUSUMECI.

ZOU DOLL – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m, restrained when disappointed for a run between CHIMBORAZO and LILSISTERDON’TCHA which shifted in slightly. Jockey M. Hellyer, rider of LILSISTERDON’TCHA, was advised to exercise greater care.

FLYING AKEED – Tightened between runners on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice B. Youngberry stated that the gelding which was first up today was not fully comfortable on the track surface and would take benefit from today’s run.


RACE 4: WATT A RACE - MI ELECTRIC OPEN HANDICAP 1150 Metres

OUR MAGNUS – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

READY TO SCHIPP – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

RALPHIE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Ipswich on the 13th of May and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages.

PARETO – Began awkwardly then tightened between COUNT NICHOLAS and RALPHIE. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

COUNT NICHOLAS - Began awkwardly.


RACE 5: RACE FOR ELLIE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1900 Metres

WATERMELON – Jockey J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the completion of the race.

LET'S DO IT AGAIN (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages.

FARWEST – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice B. Youngberry was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip in consecutive strides on two occasions prior to 100m.

LAUNCHER – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, tightened for room and steadied when WATERMELON shifted in, and as a result LADY TANGALOOMA which was following had to be checked from the heels of that runner. Jockey J. Lloyd, rider of WATERMELON, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

HIGHGROVE ROSE – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m, had to be checked before clipping heels and blundering. Jockey B. Lerena was found guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that he directed his mount into a run when there was insufficient room to do so, causing HIGHGROVE ROSE to be checked, clip the heels of BEST COFFEE (apprentice L. Martyn) and blunder. Jockey Lerena’s license to ride in races was suspended for 11 days commencing at midnight the 25th of May 2026 and ending at midnight the 5th of June 2026.

ARDUOUS – Approaching the 1500m, when being steadied, threw its head in the air and raced ungenerously for several strides. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

STOICISM (NZ) – Began awkwardly.

GYPSY WISH – Had to have its tongue tie readjusted on arrival at the start. Slow to begin.

LADY TANGALOOMA (NZ) – Checked from heels of LAUNCHER near the 1500m. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice E. Lang reported that the mare failed to handle the synthetic track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to the right hind.

CASTEL TROSINO (USA) – Raced wide throughout.

SIR ZINO (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Taree on the 12th of May and was cleared to start.


RACE 6: PULLMAN BRISBANE AIRPORT BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1050 Metres

KING KRYPTOS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and over the final 100m the rider was obliged to stop riding and straighten.

DA SNOOP DOG – Raced wide throughout.

DARN HOT LADY – Began awkwardly.

CALL TO COURAGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

RUSSIAN PINS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

STEFFI ELECTRICA – Slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the early stages. Near the 800m, improved onto the heels of ON THE TARGET and when being restrained over some distance, lost ground. Apprentice B. Osmond stated after beginning awkwardly the filly severely over raced and failed to settle in the early and middle stages and settled further back than anticipated, adding that once comfortable, his mount finished off the race well. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


RACE 7: KDL PROPERTY GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1540 Metres

ARTIFACTX – Shifted in on jumping and bumped SOUTHOFTHEBORDER.

SOUTHOFTHEBORDER – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground. Leaving the 700m, when racing keenly, improved onto the heels of CHEERFUL CAT and had to be checked and lost ground.

HEADSTRONG – Began awkwardly.

KISS'N DANCE – Slow to begin.

ARCHERS REIGN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, rider B. Thornton reported that gelding didn’t feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Gilmore reported that in light of today’s performance, ARHCERS REIGN would now be sent for a spell.

CHEERFUL CAT – Bumped on jumping.

ZHONGXIN KOALA – Raced wide in the early stages.

SISTINE CHAPEL – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


RACE 8: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1540 Metres

SIR MAURICE – Forced wider near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Jockey B. Lerena reported that his mount travelled well until the 800m, however came under pressure after being forced wider and proved disappointing in its finishing effort. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ITZA CHARMDEEL – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 800m, commenced to over race, improved onto the heels of NOTABADJACKUP and shifted out, obliging SIR MAURICE to shift out and away from heels, taking TAKUNAI wider on the track. On entering the home straight, shifted in and had to be steadied from the heels of WHAT DID YOU SAY.

NOVEMBER AIR – Leaving the 1400m, restrained from heels and lost its rightful running. Apprentice L. Martyn, rider of AIMA SUN, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that leaving the 1400m, apprentice L. Martyn made insufficient effort to prevent AIMA SUN from shifting in when not clear of NOVEMBER AIR (J. Newman) resulting in that runner having to be restrained to avoid AIMA SUN'S heels losing its rightful running. L. Martyn’s license to ride in races was suspended for 9 days commencing at midnight the 24th of May 2026 and ending at midnight the 2nd of June 2026.

AIMA SUN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

CHARLOTTE'S HERE – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice B. Youngberry reported that the mare may not have run out the 1540m trip having stepped up from 1150m last start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

TAKUNAI – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider near the 800m.

BRUTAL SUE – Slow to begin.

WHAT DID YOU SAY – Leaving the 1000m was bumped CHARLOTTE’S HERE on two occasions and shortly later was steadied when racing close to heels. Apprentice C. Baker reported that her mount resented racing in amongst runners and proved disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
