B. El-Issa was fined $100.00 for failing to fulfil his engagement on GOLD BUTTONS at Doomben today.
Following rainfall of 22mm after the scratching deadline the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9 at 10.30 a.m. Due to the track downgrade the following scratchings were permitted:-

MISTRESS OF FIRE - As K. Yoshida was delayed due to traffic stewards permitted App J.K. Johnson to be substituted as the rider.
COURT’S STAR – Slow into stride.
MONTY ZOOMS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 2: All Coast Skip Hire Class 2 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Thomas The Tank 2nd – Miggeru 3rd – Sound The Horn 4th – Beyond Hollywood
ROL’N ROBI – As B. El-Issa was delayed due to traffic stewards permitted K. Yoshida to be substituted as the rider. Began very awkwardly and shifted in.
MIGGERU – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
IRRESISTIBLE ME – Tightened on jumping away and lost ground.
MAJOR HUNTER – Tightened on jumping away and lost ground.
AKHLAAQ – Rider C. Parish reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions today. A swab sample was taken.
Race 3: Laurie Kimlin 93 Not Out Maiden H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Leroy’s Luck 2nd – Larebil 3rd – Terhaab 4th – Speedshow
ALFY BOY – Slow to begin.
ALL EYES ON ME – Slow to begin.
LAREBIL – Shortly after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room. Inconvenienced near the 1000m and commenced to overrace for a considerable distance. Steadied from the heels of another runner near the 800m.
LADY MERLOT – Inconvenienced near the 1000m.
HAPPY NEWS – Leaving the 1000m commenced to race fiercely and had to be steadied from heels for a considerable distance.
SPEEDSHOW – When questioned as to the tactics App C. Schmidt stated that after beginning well her intention was to take up a handy position however the gelding was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross the runners to her inside. App Schmidt added that as a result when caught wide she elected to restrain in an attempt to obtain cover and was forced to race further back in the field than expected. App Schmidt noted that she was then forced to make a wide run rounding the home turn after which the gelding finished the race off well. Her explanation was accepted.
Race 4: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 4 H’Cap – 1800m
1st –Tracey’s Angel 2nd – Lever Lever 3rd – Supercoach 4th – Unique Mistique
SUPERCOACH – Began awkwardly. Near the 500m shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with ROYALTOWN ROAD. App M. McGillivray was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
IN TAIPEI – Overraced in the early stages.
TRACEY’S ANGEL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 900m.
VALENTINE GIRL – Raced wide from the 800m onwards.
ROYALTOWN ROAD – Raced wide early and middle stages. Bumped heavily near the 500m.
Race 5: Coastal Tipper Hire QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Rising Luck 2nd – Pure Greed 3rd – Slippery Saga 4th – Brookajoe
The start was delayed when BROOKTON ICE was fractious in the barriers.
PURE GREED – Slow to begin.
HAVEN GAL – Near the 400m had to be steadied from heels.
PLATINUM GRAY – Raced wide for the majority. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near fore leg.
BROOKTON ICE – Raced wide for majority.
SPECIAL JAY – When questioned as to the disappointing performance App Johnson stated that despite travelling well during the early and middle stages the gelding failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure upon straightening and proved disappointing. App Johnson was of the view that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
LASHKAAL – Rider C. Parish reported the filly failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 6: Coastal Tipper Hire Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Charlotte Grace 2nd – Amazing Fate 3rd – Blue Mini 4th – Miss Gibraltar
PEARLY COURT – When questioned as to the overall performance App Adkins was of the view that the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and in his opinion was disappointing.
Race 7: Outback Jacks 29 Locations Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – One With Bling 2nd – Golfing 3rd – Born To Run Easy 4th – Beijing Dancer
BAIO – Had to be steadied when tightened for room leaving the 200m. Rider J. Morris reported that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
DANORO LAD - Had to be steadied when tightened for room leaving the 200m.
GOLFING – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
App C. Schmidt (BORN TO RUN EASY) was reprimanded for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race.
Race 8: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 3 Plate – 1400m
1st – Budget Bender 2nd – Champagne Tales 3rd – Doll In Hi Heels 4th – Quick Witted
QUICK WITTED – Blundered on jumping away. When questioned as to why the mare appeared to lose ground leaving the 600m jockey Morris stated that the mare failed to travel comfortably during that stage of the race due to the prevailing track conditions. The explanation was noted.
SNAPCRACKLE – Blundered on jumping away.
THREEBIGRIVERS – Slow to begin.
CHAMPAGNE TALES – Began awkwardly and was then slow to muster speed. App J. Hull reported that after losing ground at the start of the race he commenced to improve his position after passing the 800m and as a result was forced to race 4 wide from that point onwards and laid in in the early stages of the home straight.
PRUSSIAN HEART – Leaving the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room.
BUDGET BENDER – Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
App J. Hull (CHAMPAGNE TALES) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
J. Morris (QUICK WITTED) was fined $500.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of his poor record.
