Trainer B. Smith reported that GOTTA ZIP had been galloped on on the off side hock.
From Sunshine Coast Turf Club Sunday 8/2/2015 – Race 6
Trainer R. Heathcote reported that an endoscopic examination of KONA BREEZA revealed the horse to have a deteriorating throat condition, which would require surgery before it could continue racing.
Race 1: The New GCTC Events Centre Class 4 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Time To Exceed 2nd – Shapin Lady 3rd – Boot Shaker 4th – Chills
SHAPIN LADY – Shortly after the start commenced to buck when being restrained, shifted in abruptly and lost ground. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that the mare must compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
HIDE THE MOON – Shortly after the start had to be checked severely to avoid the heels of SHAPIN LADY and as a result lost ground.
ZARBEN – Bumped and became unbalanced for a short distance shortly after the start.
ROL’N ROBI – Hung out for some distance leaving the 600m.
CHILLS – J. Taylor dropped his whip near the 200m.
Race 2: Garrards Horse & Hound Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Secret Tryst 2nd – Coastal Gem 3rd – Eugenie 4th – Ring True
The start was delayed when DEFINE CHRONIC proved difficult to load.
HALO DE LAGO – Slow to begin.
SOVEREIGN OF HAITI – Slow to begin.
MISS TRISTY – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
SECRET TRYST – Overraced in the early stages.
COASTAL GEM – Near the 1400m, when overracing, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at heels.
EUGENIE – Rounding the first turn near the 1400m was inclined to hang out and had to be steadied to avoid heels. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
DEFINE CHRONIC – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3: Original Super Starfish Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Qabla 2nd – All On Our Own 3rd – Herrschaft 4th – Duchess Molly
The start was delayed when BOO’S ROAD, which was fractious, became cast. After being removed from the barriers the gelding was cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place in the race.
BOO’S ROAD - Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
DUCHESS MOLLY – Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
SHADOWLESS - Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
IN HER ELEMENT – Overraced passing the 1000m and had to be steadied from heels.
GRAZIO – Raced wide for the majority.
OUR BAJA – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 4: Fish N Fresh Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Minkus 2nd – Typhoon Henny 3rd – Qalateral 4th – Moolah Miss
FLYING CHOICE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey R. Fradd suffered a seemingly harmless fall after the race and was subsequently cleared by the ambulance officers to fulfil his remaining engagements.
TIARA TANTRUM – Slow to begin.
KAPFLYN – Bumped on jumping away and had to be steadied when tightened for room a short distance later.
TYPHOON HENNY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
HIGH SOCIETY – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
TWILIGHT PRINCESS – Overraced when racing wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: Cardno Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Nudgee 2nd – Ruffo 3rd – Superior Sun 4th – King’s Memory
CLOCKWORK – Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
MOE’S TAVERN – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground. Raced wide for majority.
RUFFO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for majority.
KING’S MEMORY – Near the 900m had to be steadied from heels. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Near the 500m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
GREY ROCK – Hampered on jumping away. Hampered near the 500m.
JACKY LEGS – Hung out rounding the home turn and had to be steadied from heels.
MERVYNDAVE - Raced wide for majority.
Race 6: Heritage Brothers Funeral Services QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Code Noir 2nd – Umgeni 3rd – Fell From Heaven 4th – Moral Minefield
ONSEID WITH ANGELS – Began awkwardly.
NEWS EDITOR – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. Taken wider on the track in the early stages of the home straight.
CUERVO – Initially slow to begin and was hampered a short distance later. Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
TERRORDINI – Hampered on jumping away.
MISHANI DE NIRO – Bumped on jumping away.
UMGENI – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 7: Gold Coast Transport BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Wearing Wings 2nd – Grantly Miss 3rd – Aquatorial 4th – Dousaichi
KINGTANTES – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the performance jockey K. Wharton stated that after beginning awkwardly he was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated today. Jockey Wharton added that after travelling well in the early and middle stages the gelding commenced to improve into the race rounding the home turn however, failed to finish the race off as expected and proved disappointing. Jockey Wharton further added that the gelding felt short in its action over the final 200m so he did not continue to apply pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of KINGTANTES revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced prior to the gelding racing again.
ROCK MUSICIAN – Slow to begin.
LEWAULO – Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a result weakened noticeably over the final 300m.
Race 8: Bidvest Fillies & Mares Class 3 Plate – 1200m
1st – Elisaro 2nd – Forelock D/Heat 3rd – Everybody Happy/ Harmonized Feeling 5th – Lady De Retz
Trainer A. Honess was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App B. Appo as the rider of FAREWELL JULIA.
FAREWELL JULIA – Bumped at the start.
ELISARO – Bumped at the start.
EVERYBODY HAPPY – When overracing approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room and continued to overrace for a considerable distance thereafter.
HARMONIZED FEELING – Passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of ELISARO.
LADY DE RETZ – Taken wider leaving the 900m and raced 3 wide from that point onwards. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer C. Halliday will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
KOLONGA – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 9: Southport Radiators Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 Plate – 1200m
1st – Charge Account 2nd – Schillacking 3rd – Voltaire Lumiere 4th – Bernitchy
ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN – Began awkwardly.
I DO CARE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers after being kicked by another runner and cleared to start. Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination found the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off fore leg.
RED CENT – Slow to begin.
SNITZIOLA – Jockey G. Colless reported that despite travelling well in the early and middle stages the gelding failed to quicken as expected and proved disappointing.
MOUNT PERRY – App J. Orman was reminded of his obligation when using his whip on mounts out of contention.
