SUPPLEMENTARY:

Race 8
Trainer H. Page reported that RUDY will now be sent for a spell following its disappointing performance.
Trainer R. James confirmed SILENT ACHIEVER had suffered from a bout of colic on the Saturday night following the event. Mr James stated that he would monitor the mare’s condition over the next week before making any further decisions on its current campaign.
Race 9
Trainer B. Hearn reported that MR CHA CHA had pulled up well following the race and was unable to offer any explanation for its poor performance. Mr Hearn was advised that the colt must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
Race 1: Trevor Bailey Racing Stables Maiden Plate – 2200m
1st – Ring True 2nd – Tequila Slammer 3rd – Valtari 4th – Caracas
TEQUILA SLAMMER – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages and as a result shifted wider leaving the 1600m and improved forward to take up a position outside the leader. App A. Hearn was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
NEVER GIVE IN – Near the 1800m had to be steadied from heels and shifted wider. Jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding, which weakened over the final 400m, would benefit from today’s race as it had missed some work and trials given the recent wet weather.
SLALOM – Raced wide in the early stages. App L. Dittman reported he was instructed to allow the gelding to stride in the early and middle stages in order to set a genuine tempo however, the gelding weakened noticeably over the final 400m.
VALTARI – Held up rounding the home turn. Jockey N. Day was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
ART OF PURFECTION – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was eased out of the race leaving the 300m, revealed a fracture to both sesamoids in the off hind leg. The gelding was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds.
LACADA RAIN – Lost the near fore plate in running.
Race 2: Tradies Day Sat 27th June QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Mr Optimistic 2nd – Emphasis 3rd – Relampago 4th – It’s Vegas Baby
REAL DUCHESS – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 700m.
DEFENSIVE – Began awkwardly and made contact with the near side partition.
SHUTTLE MISS – Initially slow to begin and was hampered for a short distance by TRAINER’S POCKET, which shifted out.
IT’S VEGAS BABY – Shifted in near the 800m and had to be corrected. Jockey R. McMahon reported that after beginning only fairly from the wide barrier the gelding was obliged to settle further back than anticipated. Jockey McMahon added that the gelding then raced greenly in the early stages as a result of the tempo, which in his opinion was only moderate and was then obliged to cover extra ground rounding the home turn.
MULTIFOCAL – Hung out during the middle stages of the event.
TRAINER’S POCKET – Hung out rounding the home turn, which allowed MR OPTIMISTIC the eventual winner, to improve to its inside. The filly continued to hang out in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested over the final 200m. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be sore behind. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced prior the filly racing again.
RELAMPAGO – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
EMPHASIS – Improved onto the heels of MR HENNESSY approaching the 100m and had to be steadied and shifted in abruptly.
ALL THE CREDIT - Raced 4 wide for the majority of the event
MR HENNESSY – Jockey T. Bell reported that the colt laid out rounding the home turn and during the home straight. Jockey Bell stated that in his opinion the colt would benefit with the addition of blinkers.
Race 3: Mothers Day Packages Sat 9th May QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Desert Man 2nd – Over The Venture 3rd – Old Tex 4th – My Cousin Rhett
STAR STRIDER – Lunged forward as the start was effected making contact with the barriers, resulting in it losing significant ground. The filly was then hampered when ROANY was taken out by DESERT MAN. Overraced in the middle stages of the event.
DESERT MAN - Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Jockey R. Wiggins reported that the colt began awkwardly at its previous start resulting in it losing ground at the start. Jockey Wiggins added that it then overraced badly in the early and middle stages and as a result was forced to race 4 and 5 wide and despite this finished the race off well. Jockey Wiggins further added that despite beginning awkwardly today it was able to muster speed early and obtain the lead, which had always been the stable’s intention.
ROANY – Hampered and lost ground at the start.
LAST VEGAS – Slow to begin.
MISS AMIGO – Near the 1100m had to be steadied when tightened for room by FLYING ONE MORE, which shifted in. Jockey T. Bell (FLYING ONE MORE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
BELLA LA BELLE - Near the 1100m had to be steadied when tightened for room by MISS AMIGO, which was taken in by FLYING ONE MORE.
BOTTEGA LOUIE – Overraced in the early stages of the event.
SNAPPER ROCKS – Hung out rounding the home turn.
OLD TEX – Raced greenly in the home straight.
MY COUSIN RHETT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.
Race 4: Become A GCTC Member 2015/16 Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Eljetem 2nd – Maraska 3rd – Sam De Hero 4th – Kaschuba
ROCKLEA – Connections advised that from the wide barrier today the horse would be ridden forward in the first half of the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Bumped on jumping away.
ROB ROY – Bumped on jumping away. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
KEEP THE RHYTHM – Hampered on jumping away. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
GODZONE GIRL – Slow to begin.
TREASURES SECRET – Slow to begin.
MOSS HARRY – Approaching the 700m had to be steadied from heels.
CASHINKO – Leaving the 700m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MOSS HARRY. Leaving the 400m was inconvenienced and taken wider by ELJETEM, which shifted out. App M. McGuren (ELJETEM) was severely reprimanded.
ELJETEM – Approaching the 400m shifted out and bumped CASHINKO.
LILLY THE FILLY – Held up rounding the home turn.
MARASKA – Laid in in the home straight and approaching the 200m bumped LA SPIAGGIA.
WATER BOY – When questioned as to the performance jockey M. Hellyer stated that the gelding was taken wider passing the 700m and was then forced to steady from the heels of another runner. Jockey Hellyer added that the gelding was then momentarily held up rounding the home turn when the eventual winner ELJETEM improved to his inside. Jockey Hellyer further added that the gelding then commenced to finish the race off well before being inconvenienced near the 100m after improving onto the heels of LA SPIAGGIA and then went to the line without being fully tested. Stewards reminded jockey Hellyer of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
KASCHUBA – A post race veterinary revealed the gelding had been galloped on the near hind leg and also shifted the off fore plate in running.
Race 5: GCTC Spring Carnival Packages Out Now Class 3 Plate – 2200m
1st – Wimpole Street 2nd – Kobi Creek 3rd – Warship 4th – Qabla
QABLA – Raced wide in the early stages.
LIDO – When overracing near the 1400m had to be steadied from heels. Bumped near the 300m. Lost the off hind plate in running.
WIMPOLE STREET – Leaving the 300m shifted in and bumped LIDO.
FREEZELIGHTNING – App A. Hearn reported at scale that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 500m and was only able to finish the race off fairly. App Hearn further added that the gelding was better suited when ridden more quietly further back in the field. Trainer C. Anderson agreed with the comments and added that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages.
DEEP POCKETS – Jockey K. Wharton reported that the filly failed to handle the step up in class today. Trainer R. Heathcote advised stewards that the filly would be retired from the stable.
Race 6: GCTC Melbourne Cup Packages Out Now Class 4 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Miss Husson 2nd – In Masquerade 3rd – Satirical Boy 4th – Bingo Bobby
IN MASQUERADE – Trainer D. Forster advised the horse would be ridden closer to the speed from the inside barrier today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
KNOWING ME – Trainer M. Lakey advised that with the addition of blinkers today the gelding will be ridden closer to the speed if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
SATIRICAL BOY – Hung out making the first turn near the 1500m and had to be steadied from heels.
MISS HUSSON – Held up approaching the home turn.
TERTIARY – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and then had difficulty obtaining clear running for the remainder of the event and as a result went to the line without being fully tested.
MY LAST FLING – When questioned as to the performance jockey S. Galloway stated that after being slow to begin the mare was obliged to race further back than anticipated and then commenced to overrace during the middle stages. Jockey Galloway added that when the tempo increased passing the 600m the mare was left flatfooted and was disappointed with its failure to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Galloway was of the opinion that the mare failed to handle the step up in distance today. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
BINGO BOBBY – Jockey T. Harrison reported that the gelding hung in throughout the home straight.
Race 7: Tattersall’s Club Tiara Raceday Sat 20th June QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Mischievous Devil 2nd – Gracida 3rd – Gunsmoke 4th – Where’s Thatdragon
TINA MELINA – Trainer T. Gollan advised that from the wide gate the filly will be ridden off the speed if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Blundered on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have blood in the near side nostril and mouth consistent with external trauma after being fractious.
AEROSTAR – Fractious in the barriers. When questioned as to the poor performance trainer N. Doyle expressed his disappointment in the performance and would discuss with connections the gelding’s future racing program. Mr Doyle was advised that should the gelding race again it must trial to the satisfaction of stewards.
BOARD DIRECTOR – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the tactics and overall performance jockey M. Cahill stated that after beginning only fairly he attempted to take up a trailing position behind WHERE’S THATDRAGON however, the gelding commenced to race strongly and as such was obliged to travel 3 wide outside of WHERE’S THATDRAGON during the early and middle stages. Jockey Cahill added that the gelding commenced to race strongly during the middle stages and as a result he was unable to restrain it to take up a position with cover behind WHERE’S THE DRAGON. Jockey Cahill further added that from a point leaving the 600m WHERE’S THATDRAGON commenced to hang out, which resulted in him being taken extremely wide making the home turn. Notwithstanding the circumstances of the race jockey Cahill was of the opinion that the gelding failed to travel comfortably in today’s conditions and nonetheless was disappointed in its performance.
GUNSMOKE – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from the heels of CIDARIS leaving the 500m.
SHADY DAISY – Slow to begin. Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
WHERE’S THATDRAGON – Hung out rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight. Trainer K. Doughty was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
CASINOMAC – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.
Race 8: GCTC 2015/16 Membership – Join Now Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Neptune Palace 2nd – Speedy Sam 3rd – Sons Of God 4th – Rile
SONS OF GOD – Trainer M. Leitch advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field today. The horse was ridden accordingly. Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between EYE WINSOME and BEAU JEZ. Held up rounding the home turn.
BEDISGUISED – Slow to begin.
RILE – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
EYE WINSOME – Shortly after the start was tightened for room between SONS OF GOD and FELON, which shifted out. EYE WINSOME then clipped the heels of FELON, blundered and lost ground. Overraced during the middle stages of the event.
BEAU JEZ – Had to be steadied from heels near the 700m.
MILITARY MANOR – Overraced in the middle stages of the event.
OUTRAGED – Held up in the early stages of the home straight when awkwardly placed at the heels of MILITARY MANOR.
ROSENET – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
OUR LADY MAC – When questioned as to the performance App S. Fawke stated that the filly began only fairly and had to be hard ridden in an attempt to obtain a handy position. App Fawke added that approaching the 1000m he elected to steady the filly to obtain a midfield position with cover however, from this point onwards the filly resented racing inside of other runners and as a result commenced to weaken passing the 500m and proved disappointing.
Race 9: Tradies Day Sat 27th June Class 3 Plate – 1400m
1st – Rhodin Drive 2nd – Water Kiss 3rd – Silent Duke 4th – Macka’s Back
MR PEPPERS – Slow to begin.
PANTALETTES – Began awkwardly. When questioned jockey T. Bell stated that the mare never felt entirely comfortable today and despite racing wide early was under pressure upon straightening and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Gollan was unable to explain the performance and undertook to report back to stewards should anything come to light in the days following the event. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant abnormalities.
BARCELONA BOUND – Hung in over the final 200m.
WEARING WINGS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
