SUPPLEMENTARY
As App B. Appo was late on course due to transportation difficulties stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: East Coast Concrete Contractors Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Media Maid 2nd – Sapphire Quest 3rd – Raise Your Spirits 4th – Cause For Joy
WILD ROMANCE – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
SUPER ZULU – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
MOE’S TAVERN – Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey A. Spinks stated that the gelding was unable to muster the necessary speed in the early stages to take up a more forward position. Jockey Spinks added that the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage on today’s track conditions and in his opinion was better suited to a firmer track. Trainer T. Green will be interviewed at a later date. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
HE’LL BE RIGHT – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout the event.
SECRET FORCE – Steadied leaving the 800m and again approaching the 500m when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner.
RAISE YOUR SPIRITS – Held up for a short distance passing the 400m.
LIGHTNING MELD – Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 2: Master Floor Preparers QTIS 2YO H’Cap – 900m
1st – Certification 2nd – Real Naughty 3rd – Rothbury 4th – Prince Of Tie
The start was delayed when NITSA was very fractious in the barriers and became cast. As a result NITSA, MADOTTI and PRINCE OF TIE, which were drawn in adjacent stalls were removed from the barriers. After undergoing veterinary examinations MADOTTI and NITSA were declared late scratchings at 12.35 p.m. on the advice of the veterinary surgeon and PRINCE OF TIE was cleared to start. All monies invested on MADOTTI and NITSA were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 12.35 p.m.:

55 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #8 (CERTIFICATION)
55 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #13 (REAL NAUGHTY)

Stable representative S. Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to MADOTTI racing again.
Stable representative N. Cameron was advised that NITSA must officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards on 2 occasions and a veterinary certificate of fitness must be provided prior to the filly racing again.
ROTHBURY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
JERRY’S WITNESS – Slow to begin.
REAL NAUGHTY – Bumped shortly after the start.
KYOTO ROSE – Bumped shortly after the start.
PRINCE OF TIE – Hung out in the home straight. Trainer B. Hill was advised that a warning would be placed on the colt’s racing manners. Mr Hill advised that the colt would now be gelded and sent for a spell.
CERTIFICATION – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. When questioned as to the improved performance trainer A. Williamson stated that the filly had benefited from a spell following its first race start in December. Mr Williamson noted that the filly was forced to race extremely wide on that occasion and was down in class today.
Race 3: Wideform Class 5 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Shotover River 2nd – Wearing Wings 3rd – Forelock 4th – Vodnik
FORELOCK - Connections advised the horse would be ridden on the speed today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
VODNIK – Slow to begin.
ZEDPAK – Eased out of the race leaving the 600m after jockey L. Rolls became concerned with the gelding’s action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have ruptured an off fore tendon. Trainer S. Marsh advised the gelding would now be retired from racing.
SHOTOVER RIVER – Jockey A. Butler was fined $200.00 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
REAL GENE – Trainer J. Morrisey advised the filly would now be sent for a spell.
Race 4: The Triple M Team You Can Trust Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Persist 2nd – Right To Roam 3rd – Puntinato 4th – Made To Order
LUXTON DEEPING – Underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course late and was cleared to start.
FLYING CHARGER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MADE TO ORDER – Blundered on jumping away and shortly thereafter had to be steadied when tightened for room.
CAMAYOC – Hampered shortly after the start.
RIGHT TO ROAM – Hampered shortly after the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
Race 5: HVAC Class 6 Plate – 1400m
1st – Kalandula 2nd – Budget Bender 3rd – Speedy Sam 4th – Royal Scribe
TALON LADY - Following the running of Race 3 jockey K. Wharton was stood down by the Club’s Doctor and replaced by N. Day.
KALANDULA – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
ARCTIC – Slow to begin and had to be steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
Race 6: Westfield Community Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Moonlight Dancer 2nd – All Assured 3rd – Murta Cape 4th – Do Not Go Gentle
MOONLIGHT DANCER – Slow to begin.
POWER DE TED – Blundered on jumping away. Eased out of the event passing the 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised the gelding will incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must complete a 1000m gallop before racing again.
DO NOT GO GENTLE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event.
RUFFO – Held up rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight.
ALBERTA – Inconvenienced upon straightening. Raced wide throughout the event. When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey Matthew Palmer stated his intention was to take up a handy position today however, he was unable to muster the required speed in the early stages, which resulted in him settling in a 3 wide midfield position.
BETTERTHANYOUTHINK – Raced wide throughout the event.
ALL ASSURED – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey S. Galloway stated that from the wide barrier today he was instructed to take up a midfield position with cover. As this was in contrast to the filly’s recent racing pattern where it had been ridden on the speed stewards reminded stable representative B. Rogers of the obligation to advise stewards of any intended change of tactics.
Race 7: Australian Post Tensioning QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Dansolei 2nd – Spanish Saga 3rd – Stormy Grey 4th – Falzini
FALZINI – As App M. McGuren was indisposed due to transportation difficulties stewards permitted App B. Grylls to be substituted as the rider.
WHERE’S THATDRAGON – Slow to begin and was hampered shortly thereafter. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Bumped near the 900m.
OMEGA – Had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 900m. Near the 100m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between FALZINI and SPUR LE JOUER and as a result was held up for the remainder of the event.
STORMY GREY – Near the 900m had to be steadied, shifted in and bumped WHERE’S THATDRAGON. App B. Appo (SEASHELLS) which shifted in when not clear of STORMY GREY was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced wide throughout the event.
SPUR LE JOUER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event. When questioned as to the tactics adopted App S. Eilbeck stated that she was instructed to position the colt in a midfield position. App Eilbeck further stated that after beginning fairly she attempted to restrain the colt in the early stages to take up a trailing position behind JETASAN however, it commenced to race strongly. App Eilbeck added that for this reason she was unable to restrain the colt which resulted in her racing 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the race. App Eilbeck further added that notwithstanding the colt’s wide run she was disappointed in its performance and was of the opinion that it had not felt comfortable on today’s track conditions.
SEASHELLS – When weakening had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 200m. Raced wide throughout the event.
DETACHMENT – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m.
Race 8: Beavis & Bartels BenchMark 85 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Charge Account 2nd – Florida Fellow 3rd – More Than Money 4th – Under The Hat
EMPRESS ME – Slow to begin.
ROSENET – Slow to begin and then steadied when tightened for room shortly thereafter.
BUAKAW – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HYDRAZINE – Jockey D. Griffin reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event and proved difficult to ride.
