Trainer S O’Sullivan indicated that the mare would now be retired from her stable, however, Ms O’Sullivan was advised that the mare would be restricted to non-TAB events before establishing improved form.

CARRY FORWARD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off hind leg. Trainer J Chan will be advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness before the gelding’s next race start.

DIVA FOREVER – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

AMBER JET – Jockey N Day reported that his intention was to take up a handy position, however, the filly failed to muster speed in the early stages which forced him to race further back in the field than anticipated. Jockey Day was of the view that the filly would be better suited when able to obtain cover closer to the speed over further ground than that of today’s event.

Jockey S Bogenhuber (BLUE DESERT MOON) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of PENHALE PRIDE which was taken in on to WALTZ IN FLIGHT which in turn was taken in on to RA RA EPIC which made contact with GIVEN WINGS. In this incident WALTZ IN FLIGHT, RA RA EPIC and GIVEN WINGS all had to be steadied and lost ground. TEMUJIN’S QUEEN – Disappointed for a run approaching the 100m and then held up for a short distance.

FELL FROM HEAVEN – When questioned as to the tactics adopted during the early stages, Jockey S Galloway stated that he was instructed to take up a prominent position. He added that he was mindful of the fact that the mare was stepping up in distance today and as such he was reluctant to become involved in a speed battle during the early stages. For this reason he allowed CASINOMAC to cross forward to the lead leaving the 900m. Jockey Galloway further added that the mare then over-raced during the middle stages and despite being held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, failed to quicken as expected when afforded clear running leaving the 250m and in his opinion was somewhat disappointing in the run to the line. Jockey Galloway added that in hindsight he would have been better suited allowing the mare to stride forward in the early stages to maintain a position to the inside of CASINOMAC. Trainer M Eggleston confirmed the instructions and given the mare’s racing manners during the middle stages was of the view that it would be better suited when allowed to lead. Stewards noted their explanations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

Race 5: Little Truffle Maiden H’cap – 1300m
1st – Georgio 2nd – Classroom Destiny 3rd – Chicago 4th – Grey Not Black

Due to a misunderstanding Jockey K Wharton was declared as the rider of ISLAND EMPIRE and subsequently replaced by Jockey V Johnston.

GREY RENA – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which faltered passing the 100m revealed it to have fractured its off fore scapula. After consulting with connections the gelding was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds. Jockey A Allen who was dislodged in this incident was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement.

CLASSROOM DESTINY - Slow to begin. Jockey M Paget reported upon returning to scale that when obliged to race wide in the early stages he elected to ride forward to the lead near the 900m.

LEGAL COUNSEL – Held up rounding the home turn.

WATER BOY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A Spinks stated that he was forced to place the gelding under pressure earlier than expected. Jockey Spinks added that the gelding then laid in under pressure during the home straight and in his opinion the 59kg impost today may have had a detrimental effect on the gelding’s performance.

BUKEKAYO – Bumped leaving the 300m and again near the 150m. When questioned as to the performance, Jockey M Hellyer stated that despite travelling comfortably in the early and middle stages, the mare failed to quicken when placed under pressure upon straightening and in his opinion was disappointing. Jockey Hellyer was of the view that the mare may have come to the end of its current race preparation. Trainer C Anderson confirmed that the mare will now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
