Trainer D Kelly was fined the sum of $100 for the late notification of Jockey T Treichel on HARLEY HOG.

The start was delayed when DEVIL’S RUM proved difficult to load.

OUTBACK STORM – Slow to begin. A short distance later steadied when tightened for room between DEVIL’S RUM and FOXY WALK which shifted out. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.

RED CALVARY – Began awkwardly and then raced very ungenerously in the early stages and lost considerable ground. Trainer S Lee advised that the colt will now be gelded and sent for a spell. Mr Lee was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to starting again.

DIAMOND ON COMMAND – Bumped near the 100m.

HARLEY HOG - Bumped near the 100m.

Race 2: Toxfree Industrial Services Class 3 H’cap – 900m
1st – Excelartie 2nd – Pay Zone Princess 3rd – Stellarcraft 4th – Eagle’s Next

EXCELARTIE – Slow to begin.

MOSS HARRY – When questioned as to the overall performance and his riding rounding the home turn, Jockey K Wharton stated that after beginning only fairly the gelding was then slow to muster speed in the early stages. Jockey Wharton added that approaching the 600m his intention was to take up a position behind PROFILER and then shift wider rounding the home turn. However, the gelding commenced to over-race which resulted in him then suffering interference near the 600m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PROFILER which was taken in by EAGLE’S NEST (App. N Masuda). App. N Masuda was reprimanded. Jockey Wharton further added that the gelding then took a number of strides to regain its balance after which he was unable to improve his position when continually placed in restricted room to the inside of PROFILER until a point passing the 400m after which it failed to respond as expected and proved disappointing.

STELLARCRAFT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AQUATOR – Hung out rounding home turn.

PROFILER – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey J Taylor stated that he was disappointed in the gelding’s finishing effort today. Jockey Taylor was of the view that the gelding would derive a fitness benefit from today after resuming from a spell. Jockey Taylor was also of the view that the gelding may improve when stepped up over further distances.

Race 3: Toxfree Waste Management F&M Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Walwa 2nd – Hannah’s Wish 3rd – Awesome More 4th – Chief’s Fav

ISLAND SUNSET – Slow to begin.

WATCHED – Began awkwardly.

CHIEF’S FAV – Over-raced during the early stages and leaving the 1000m steadied from the heels of CABIN GOSSIP.

WALWA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

THAT’S ENOUGH – Steadied from the heels of VELOCE JAY over the concluding stages.

IT’S IN HIS KISS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained lacerations to the inside of both hind fetlocks.

AWESOME MORE – When questioned as to the tactics adopted, App. N Masuda stated he was instructed to obtain cover from the wide barrier today as connections were concerned that the mare might have been caught wide if asked to obtain a forward position. As these instructions appeared in contrast to the mare’s previous pattern of racing, Trainer T Timbery was reminded of her obligations to advise Stewards of any intended change of tactics.

Race 4: Toxfree Recycling Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Amajill 2nd – Real Rocker 3rd – Kodo 4th – On Demand

REAL ROCKER – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages before shifting wider leaving the 1000m and improving forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 800m. Then raced greenly in the home straight when inclined to shift in before shifting out under pressure over the concluding stages. Trainer G Taylor was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

JALAURABEL – Slow to begin.

EKOFANIDEA – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and near the 1100m improved onto the heels of ON DEMAND and shifted wider. Continued to over-race to a point passing the 900m.

GREAT PATIENCE – When questioned as to the performance, Jockey T Treichel noted the gelding was first up from a spell today. Jockey Treichel added that the gelding found the lead of its own accord and was able to set a moderate tempo in the early and middle stages. Given the slow tempo that was set Jockey Treichel was disappointed with the gelding’s finishing effort, where it weakened over the final 100m, but was unable to offer any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

Race 5: Toxfree – Smartskip C,G&E Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Platinum Prince 2nd – Give ‘Em Curry 3rd – Lips Like Jagger 4th – Shockwave

SHOCKWAVE - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TOO ROUGH.

TOO ROUGH - Bumped shortly after the start.

LIPS LIKE JAGGER - Bumped shortly after the start. Approaching the 1200m steadied when placed in restricted room. Commenced to over-race for some distance and approaching the 900m steadied from the heels of TOO ROUGH.

TRAIL BUSTER - Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m checked when tightened for room and lost ground. Jockey A Allen (MAKAS KING RULER) was issued with a charge of careless riding in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of SHOCKWAVE which was taken in onto LIPS LIKE JAGGER which in turn was taken in onto TRAIL BUSTER. Jockey Allen pleaded not guilty and submitted that his mount laid in and away from PLATINUM PRINCE despite his efforts. When questioned by Jockey Allen, the other riders involved conceded that their mounts had contributed to the interference suffered by TRAIL BUSTER and as such, Stewards were unable to sustain the charge. Nonetheless Stewards issued Jockey Allen with a reprimand.

RED HOMBRE - Began awkwardly and lost ground.

GIVE ‘EM CURRY - Shifted out under pressure over the final 300m.

Jockey B Cornell (LIPS LIKE JAGGER) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than the number of permitted occasions prior to the 100m.

1st – The Lynches 2nd – Hereafter 3rd – Lost Thief 4th – Magnetic Star

HEREAFTER was incorrectly advertised as being gelded following its last start. The horse was gelded prior to resuming this campaign. Public announcements were made to this effect.

SNAPPER ROCKS – Slow to begin. Jockey M Hellyer reported that his intention was to settle closer to the speed today, however, the gelding failed to muster speed in the early stages and as a result he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field. Jockey Hellyer stated that as a result the gelding was not suited by today’s slow tempo.

VALTARI - Slow to begin.

MAGNETIC STAR – Held up approaching the home turn. Inclined to lay out in the home straight and as a result Jockey Londregan was obliged to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions.

OUR PLAYDOUGH - Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

PEPPA JELLY - When questioned as to the disappointing performance Jockey V Johnston stated that the mare failed to travel comfortably at any stage and was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race. Jockey Johnston was of the view that the mare did not appreciate racing on today’s firm surface.
