SUPPLEMENTARY:
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 21/11/2015 – 1200m Maiden
Trainer G. Stockdale reported to stewards that ROB ROY had jarred up following its run at the Gold Coast and it was now his intention to send the gelding for an immediate spell.
Race 1: Highgrove Bathrooms.Com Class 3 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Shinji 2nd – Eagle’s Nest 3rd – Miggeru 4th – Deepest
KOLONGA – Trainer B. Hull was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of V. Johnston as rider.
ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Hellyer suffered a seemingly harmless fall following the event. After being examined by the ambulance officers jockey Hellyer was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
MOSS HARRY – Near the 600m had to be steadied when tightened for room. App N. Masuda (EAGLE’S NEST) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Leaving the 300m was bumped by MIGGERU, which shifted out to improve. App K. Stanley (MIGGERU) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages had to be checked to avoid the heels of MIGGERU, which shifted out. App K. Stanley was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when insufficiently clear. When questioned as to the performance jockey N. Day stated that the gelding was under pressure upon straightening and in his opinion was disappointing today. Jockey Day further stated that connections had indicated that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.
MIGGERU – Near the 600m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of MOSS HARRY.
CHOOSE A SAGA – When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey K. Wharton stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early stages and was then forced to race in restricted room rounding the home turn, after which the gelding was immediately under pressure. Jockey Wharton expressed his disappointment in the gelding’s overall performance after he had ridden it in a trial leading into today’s event where it had impressed him. Trainer S. Ryan expressed his disappointment in the gelding’s performance however, was unable to offer any tangible explanation and undertook to report back to stewards should any abnormalities come to light in the coming days. Mr Ryan indicated that he would consider trialling the gelding again prior to its next start as it had performed well when first up in its previous campaign following a number of trials. Mr Ryan noted that prior to its last campaign the gelding had performed poorly when first up from a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 2: Casa Lusso Bathroomware Maiden H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Rockleigh 2nd – Watched 3rd – Splendid Stryker 4th – Monty Zooms
HAVEN DUKE – Presented to race with blinkers which were not part of the advertised gear. Acting on submissions from trainer N. Hocking that the horse had previously raced with blinkers it was subsequently allowed to race with blinkers today. Stewards will undertake further inquiries.
GET OUTA UTAH – Slow to begin.
WATCHED – Began awkwardly.
BERLINETTA – Raced greenly for the majority of the event and in doing so hung out rounding the home turn.
PEQUENINOS – Hung out rounding the home turn.
LIGHTNING ROCK – Near the 400m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of HAVEN DUKE. When asked to comment on the performance jockey D. Griffin stated that the gelding had trialled well on Tuesday 24 November 2015 and in his opinion had failed to back up from that trial.
ROCKLEIGH – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 3: Victoria’s Honour Class 5 H’Cap – 1800m
1st –Kobi Creek 2nd – Coastal Gem 3rd – Western Heir 4th – November Grey
NOVEMBER GREY – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was subsequently cleared to race. Momentarily held up passing the 400m.
MAJESTIC SOUND – Began awkwardly.
MICKEN – Near the 300m was bumped by WESTERN HEIR.
Race 4: Highgrove Trading Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Unassuming 2nd – Hoagy 3rd – Heroic Rock 4th – Em One
EM ONE - Trainer D. Kelly was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of Matthew Palmer as rider. Inconvenienced by RED HOMBRE shortly after the start.
SAGA MISS – Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn and near the 400m had to be severely checked when disappointed for a run to the outside of RED HOMBRE, which was weakening. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed a laceration to its off hind leg consistent with being galloped on. When questioned as to the overall performance jockey M. Hellyer stated that the filly is best suited when able to improve into its races from the 600m and as a result after it suffered severe interference near the 400m it failed to quicken again once balanced and placed under pressure.
UNASSUMING – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
ENEMY’S DEFEATED – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.
HOAGY – Began awkwardly.
AWESOME MORE – Bucked for the first 200m of the event and as a result settled at the tail of the field. Near the 400m had to be checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of SAGA MISS, which suffered interference. Trainer T. Timbery was advised that the mare must compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
MAKAS KING RULER – Bumped heavily near the 400m by SAGA MISS and became unbalanced.
THAT’S ENOUGH – Near the 400m bumped on the hind quarters by SAGA MISS and became unbalanced.
RED HOMBRE – App N. Masuda reported that the gelding was galloped on as a result of interference near the 400m, at which point the horse became unbalanced and shifted out.
Race 5: AM Logistics QTIS 3YO BM65 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Star Of Night 2nd – Secret Puzzle 3rd – Dandy One 4th – Kid Cruize
FAVOURED GRACE – Slow to begin.
KID CRUIZE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress.
SECRET PUZZLE - Overraced in the early stages.
MEMPHIS GIRL – Near the 800m improved to the inside of SECRET PUZZLE where there was restricted room and had to be steadied.
LADY BEE – A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which returned to the enclosure with blood in the off side nostril, revealed the blood to be as a result of external trauma consistent with the filly being fractious in the barriers.
GALA TICKETS – Jockey S. Galloway reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout and in doing so hung out for the majority of the event.
Race 6: Casalusso.com.au Class 1 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Hidden Love 2nd – The Monk 3rd – Tahitian Prince 4th – Moringa’s Tootsie
KYOTO ROSE – As J. Morris was overweight stewards permitted M. Hellyer to be substituted as the rider. J. Morris was subsequently fined $300.00.
FORTUNATE FOUR – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed a laceration to the off side hip. Jockey N. Day was fined $200.00 for returning to scale overweight.
HIDDEN LOVE – Slow to begin.
MAGICAL PRINT – Began awkwardly.
STRELOVEN – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
THE MONK – Unable to improve when held up for clear running between the 400m and 200m, at which point he was obliged to shift out in order to secure clear running.
DUTCH TREAT – Near the 150m was inconvenienced by HIDDEN LOVE, which shifted in marginally.
KYOTO ROSE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 7: Highgrove Bathrooms Class 4 H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Righteous Miss 2nd – Roman Secret 3rd – It’s A Thrilla 4th – Steps To Stardom
TRICK TRONIC – Trainer D. Kelly was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of D. Griffin as rider.
DESTINY’S LASS – Slow to begin.
RIGHTEOUS MISS – Inconvenienced shortly after the start by IT’S A THRILLA, which shifted in.
STEPS TO STARDOM – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when bumped by RIGHTEOUS MISS.
IT’S A THRILLA – Raced 3 wide in the early stages.
LOGICAL OUTCOME – Near the 800m had to be steadied from the heels of RIGHTEOUS MISS, which shifted in. App K. Stanley (RIGHTEOUS MISS) was issued with a severe reprimand for this incident. Approaching the 500m was bumped by TANGENT, which shifted out to improve. App S. Eilbeck (TANGENT) was reprimanded for this incident. LOGICAL OUTCOME then hung out for a short distance before again being bumped by TANGENT.
TALON LADY – Held up when unable to improve over the final 250m and as a result went to the line without being fully tested.
GOLFING – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. When questioned as to the performance jockey Matthew Palmer stated that the gelding usually performs best when able to dictate terms in front, nonetheless he was most disappointed with today’s performance notwithstanding the fact that the gelding was obliged to race wide throughout. Jockey Palmer noted that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action following the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from mild bilateral four limb lameness. Trainer D. Bell expressed his disappointment in the performance and undertook to report to stewards anything that may come to light in the coming days. Mr Bell added that he would discuss with connections the horse’s current racing program.
Race 8: Summer Surf Sprint Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – London Lady 2nd – Where’s Thatdragon 3rd – Egiptienne 4th – St Cajetan
CHOUPETTE - Trainer B. Guy was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as rider. Slow to begin.
The announcement of correct weight was delayed whilst stewards reviewed the patrol footage to ascertain if the connections of ST CAJETAN had grounds to lodge an objection against the 3rd placegetter EGIPTIENNE, due to interference suffered rounding the home turn. Whilst stewards noted that ST CAJETAN had suffered interference which was indirectly attributed to EGIPTIENNE, they could not be satisfied that interference, bearing in mind the margin, warranted a reversal of placings and subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.
WHERE’S THATDRAGON – Blundered on jumping away and lost ground.
LILLOOET – Knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.
LOCHLEE – Near the 450m had to be checked to avoid the heels of EGIPTIENNE, which shifted out to improve.
DEITCH – Near the 450m was hampered by LOCHLEE, which was taken out by another runner.
ST CAJETAN – Near the 450m was inconvenienced and forced extremely wide by DEITCH, which was taken out by another runner.
GODS ‘N’ WARRIORS – Near the 450m was inconvenienced by ST CAJETAN, which was taken outwards.
KODO – Near the 450m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ST CAJETAN, which was taken out by another runner. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Jockey L. Londregan the rider of EGIPTIENNE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the 450m he shifted out in an effort to improve when insufficiently clear of LOCHLEE, which was taken out onto DEITCH, which was in turn taken out onto ST CAJETAN. Jockey Londregan was suspended from riding in races for eight (8) days to commence midnight 6 December 2015 and to expire midnight 14 December 2015.
B. Cornell the rider of TEAR US APART was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
