SUPPLEMENTARY:

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 16 October 2015 – Race 1
Trainer M. Eggleston reported that SASSY TYCOON had suffered a fractured sinus when it was declared a late scratching after breaking through the barriers. Mr Eggleston stated that the horse has been sent for a spell and undertook to provide a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 28 November 2015 – Race 1
Trainer S. Ryan reported that CHOOSE A SAGA was inspected by his veterinarian 2 days after the run who was unable to identify any abnormalities. Mr Ryan indicated that he would place the horse in an unofficial trial before determining whether to continue its current preparation.

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 28 November 2015 – Race 2
Trainer N. Hocking was fined $200.00 for failing to enact a gear change on HAVEN, which raced with blinkers that weren’t previously notified.

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 28 November 2015 – Race 7
Trainer D. Bell reported that GOLFING had pulled up well following its disappointing performance.


Race 1: Surf Meets Turf Class 2 H’Cap – 900m
1st – High Cost 2nd – Mystic Forces 3rd – Canny And The Jet 4th – Royal Hootenanny

The start of this race was delayed when CANNY AND THE JET proved difficult to load.

CANNY AND THE JET – Fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey J. Hull reported that the gelding despite his efforts failed to muster speed in the early stages after beginning awkwardly, however once balanced upon straightening finished the race off well. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SYN CITY – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the performance App T. Wolfgram stated that the filly did not feel comfortable at any stage of the event and proved disappointing.

S. Drake the rider of HIGH COST was fined $500.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.


Race 2: Segenhoe@mm Lot 136 All Too Hard x Custard QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Sugarparma 2nd – Hidden Light 3rd – How Big’s The Hole 4th – Ultroneous

MARVEL CREATION was declared a late scratching at 11.25 a.m. after the filly was fractious on the float when being transported to the track. Trainer S. Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly racing again.

PRINCESS SIDEREUS – Slow to begin. Passing the 600m had to be steadied from the heels of SUGARPARMA.

MISS COLOMBIA – Slow to begin. Leaving the 800m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GENERAL COS, which was taken in by BUDDY HOLLOW.

HIDDEN LIGHT – Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

PEGAPUS – Leaving the 800m had to be checked and lost ground when tightened for room between LOVE TO CONQUER and MISS COLOMBIA. Raced greenly throughout and was inclined to hang in in the home straight.

LOVE TO CONQUER – Bumped heavily leaving the 800m by PEGAPUS and became unbalanced for a short distance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer B. Hill was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly racing again.

SUGARPARMA – Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the outside of HIDDEN LIGHT and was obliged to shift back to the inside to secure clear running.

BUDDY HOLLOW – Raced wide throughout and had to be steadied from the heels of ULTRONEOUS passing the 600m.

ULTRONEOUS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

GENERAL COS – Raced wide throughout.

App J. Oliver the rider of BUDDY HOLLOW pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GENERAL COS, which was taken in onto MISS COLOMBIA, which when being steadied shifted in causing interference to PEGAPUS. App Oliver’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 19 December 2015 and to expire midnight 28 December 2015.


Race 3: Segenhoe@mm Lot 151 Street Cry x Deer Valley BenchMark 80 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Rising Luck 2nd – Amajill 3rd – Cash ‘N’ Style 4th – Fantisha

CASH ‘N’ STYLE – Near the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of SPATHA.


Race 4: Swim Between The Flags Class 4 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Hidden Rose 2nd – Show Harmony 3rd – Royal Physician 4th – Apple Thief

GOLFING – Trainer D. Bell was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of G. Goold as the rider.

MAGIC IN ACTION – As N. Faithfull was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted App R. Bayliss to be substituted as the rider.

ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

DEEPEST – When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages of the home straight jockey S. Galloway stated that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 500m after being obliged to work hard in the early stages to cross to the lead. Jockey Galloway noted that the gelding was having its first start on a rain affected track today. Stewards noted the explanation.

APPLE THIEF – App P. Schmidt reported that the gelding failed to travel comfortably throughout the event in today’s soft conditions with the 58 ½ kilo impost.


Race 5: Segenhoe@mm Lot 313 Pierro x Hurtle Myrtle Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Little Miss Rocker 2nd – Tamrookum 3rd – Paris Motion 4th – Liesl Lass

Trainer R. Smith was fined $100.00 for failing to scratch DATASTAR by the prescribed time.

Stewards permitted CONTRITE to be declared a late scratching at 1.00 p.m. due to the downgrade of the track.

The start was delayed when TAMROOKUM had to be examined by the veterinary surgeon after becoming momentarily cast in the barriers and was subsequently cleared to race.

ARTETA – Began awkwardly.

BO BO HORSE – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened for room between FINAL RUN and OUTBACK STORM.

ZIZOU WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Near the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of PARIS MOTION. Jockey J. Taylor reported that despite his efforts the gelding was unable to muster speed in the early stages. Jockey Taylor was of the view that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions today.

ARENA SALON – Near the 1100m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of OUTBACK STORM. Hung out during the middle stages.

PARIS MOTION – Shifted in abruptly approaching the 900m when racing greenly.

FINAL RUN – Near the 200m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OUTBACK STORM, which shifted out marginally.

DEVIL’S FIRE – Leaving the 200m was hampered by FINAL RUN, which shifted in. Jockey D. Griffin reported that his intention was to obtain a position closer to the speed however, the colt failed to muster the necessary speed in the early stages. Jockey Griffin was of the view that the colt failed to handle the prevailing track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

App R. Bayliss the rider of LITTLE MISS ROCKER was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 7.


Race 6: Segenhoe@mm Lot 612 Pierro x Skates Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Always Sacred 2nd – Dutch Treat 3rd – Moringa’s Tootsie 4th – Hefner

DUTCH TREAT – Began awkwardly.

NILETTE – Began awkwardly and bumped THE MONK.

THE MONK – Bumped on jumping away.

MORINGA’S TOOTSIE – Slow to begin.

PRINCESS CHARM – Slow to begin.

MY COUSIN RHETT – Raced wide throughout.

ALWAYS SACRED – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Jockey J. Morris the rider of KYOTO ROSE was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Jockey M. McGuren the rider of SHEEZALADY was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

SHEEZALADY – Jockey M. McGuren reported that the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions today particularly with the impost of 59 ½ kilos. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal respiratory noise and the mare was displaying signs of a cough. Trainer B. Hill undertook to have endoscopic examination performed, the results of which he would report to stewards.


Race 7: Segenhoe Cup Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Qabla 2nd – Unassuming 3rd – Secret Tryst 4th – Whatalovelyday

Subject to any further submissions trainer R. Drysdale will be fined $100.00 for failing to scratch WORLD SERIES by the prescribed time.

UNASSUMING – Slow to begin.

SECRET TRYST – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being ridden forward to the lead near the 1000m.

CAILLEBOTTE – A short distance after leaving the 600m was unable to improve when placed in restricted room between SECRET TRYST and ROYAL STANDING. Upon straightening had to be steadied when tightened for room between ROYAL STANDING and SECRET TRYST, which shifted out.

RABASCO – Bumped rounding the home turn.

ROYAL STANDING - Bumped rounding the home turn.

App B. Ainsworth the rider of WHATALOVELYDAY was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner prior to the 100m.



Race 8: Boxing Day Raceday December 26 Ratings Band 0-65 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Where’s Thatdragon 2nd – St Cajetan 3rd – Beaumaris 4th – Bobby Be Good

BOBBY BE GOOD - As K. Stanley was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted Matthew Palmer to be substituted as the rider. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TALON LADY. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Stewards permitted SMASHER to be declared a late scratching at 12.57 p.m. due to the downgrade of the track.

HARVARD GRADUATE – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

TAMPERE – Slow to begin and shortly thereafter had to be steadied when tightened for room.

TALON LADY – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.

ST CAJETAN – Bumped shortly after the start. Jockey M. McGuren reported that in the early stages he was obliged to restrain to obtain cover behind WISHMORE, which remained in a position one off the fence. Jockey McGuren added that the horse then travelled well before improving into the race passing the 600m. However, the horse blundered in the going rounding the home turn and was then inclined to lay in in the early stages of the home straight and as a result was reluctant to improve into a run to the outside of BOBBY BE GOOD leaving the 300m.
