Race 1: First National Real Estate BM65 H’cap – 2200m
1st – Coup D’Etat 2nd – Royaltown Road 3rd – Whispering Tess 4th – Ekofanidea

ROYALTOWN ROAD - Bumped on jumping away.

SECRET TRYST - Bumped on jumping away. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. When questioned as to the tactics adopted today, Jockey L Rolls stated that he was instructed to obtain a mid-field position with cover. Jockey Rolls added that he was able to comply with these instructions, however, due to the slow tempo the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned if he considered improving into the race with COUP D’ETAT in the back straight, Jockey Rolls stated that the gelding had previously been ridden in that fashion and on that occasion did not finish its race off. Jockey Rolls further added that he placed the gelding under pressure leaving the 600m at which point it failed to improve into the race and proved disappointing. Trainer S Morrisey confirmed the instructions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

JOLIE MADELEINE – App. S Fawke reported that the mare over-raced during the early stages.

COUP D’ETAT – When questioned as to the improved performance Trainer J Thomas stated that the gelding had worked well leading into today’s race and was hopeful of a forward showing. Mr Thomas added that the slow tempo and the positive ride by Jockey Morris to ride forward to the lead in the middle stages along with the drop in weight and improved fitness, were all factors that contributed to today’s improved performance.

Jockey J Morris (COUP D’ETAT) was fined the sum of $300 for returning to scale overweight.
Jockey Morris was also fined the sum of $100 for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m.

App. M Murphy (ROYALTOWN ROAD) was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 2: Karl Raberger Memorial Maiden H’cap – 1300m
1st – Karakabeel 2nd – Bo Bo Horse 3rd – Adjourned 4th – Hope Island

Stewards accepted Trainer D Bell’s explanation for the late declaration of Jockey T Brooker as the rider of OORAWAN.

The start was delayed when SPORTS REPORT was fractious in the barriers. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

HOPE ISLAND - Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden forward today if circumstances permit. Raced wide during the early stages before being ridden forward to a position outside the leader near the 600m.

SPORTS REPORT – Near the 1000m checked when tightened for room. Shortly thereafter steadied from the heels of BO BO HORSE for a considerable distance. Jockey L Rolls (BO BO HORSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 100m when insufficiently clear of SPORTS REPORT. As a consequence SPORTS REPORT had to be steadied and lost ground. Jockey Rolls was suspended from riding in races to commence mid. 24/01/2016 to mid. 05/02/2016.

HAGIA SOPHIE – Raced wide throughout.

ZIZOU WARRIOR - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

THE TROUBLE MAKER – Raced greenly in the home straight.

OUR ANGELICA - Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. When questioned as to the improved performance, Trainer S Iverson noted the filly was only having its second race start today and at its first start at Warwick had raced wide throughout beaten 6.6 lengths and as such was not overly disappointed in that performance. Mr Iverson added that the filly had stepped up to a more suitable distance of 1400m today and had impressed in an unofficial trial earlier in the week.

BIG BAMBOO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer J Zielke will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to its next start.

App. B Appo (IN KOBE) was fined the sum of $500 for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of App. Appo’s poor record.

LORD LONHRO - Began awkwardly.

MORE THAN MONEY - Inconvenienced near the 800m.

HIDDEN ROSE - Over the concluding stages obliged to race in restricted room preventing it from being ridden right out to the end of the race.

ONE GREY – When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance Trainer B Guy stated that similar instructions to lead had been issued at its last start, however, on that occasion the gelding was unable to cross other runners to the inside and as a result raced 3 wide throughout. Mr Guy also noted that the gelding was down in class today and was able to cross to the lead easily and dictate terms.

Race 6: Combined Electrical Services Class 2 H’cap – 1100m

FORTUNATE FOUR - Raced wide for the majority of event.

ULTRA EGO - Passing the 600m improved onto the heels of another runner and steadied.

KYOTO ROSE - Shifted out under pressure in the home straight and passing the 100m momentarily lost the use of his off side rein.

HOT HYPNOSIS – When questioned as to the tactics adopted, App. R Johnston-Bell explained that after being caught 3 wide without cover the gelding proved too strong for him and for this reason he felt he had little option but to allow it to stride forward from the 1000m outside the leaders. He added that he had been instructed to try to have the horse in a handy position however, when he was unable to obtain cover he felt it best to let the horse run along. He added in hindsight it may have been better to have attempted to restrain the gelding but he said he was unable to do so.

Race 8: Edmonds Racing Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – La Spiaggia 2nd – St Andrews 3rd – Telmemore 4th – Amajill

WE’RE READY – Stewards questioned Trainer J Pritchard regarding the gelding’s nomination for this race after she had previously indicated that the horse would be stepped up in distance at its next start after performing poorly at Beaudesert. Ms Pritchard stated that she had been unable to find a suitable race over 1800m and as such had elected to drop the gelding back in distance to 1400m with the specific instructions to afford the gelding clear running as it had been held up behind runners at its previous two starts. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which compounded from a point leaving the 600m failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer J Pritchard advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Notwithstanding, Ms Pritchard was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

DREAM SPEED – App. S Eilbeck reported that the mare hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight. App. Eilbeck added that she had intended on settling in a position closer to the speed.

App. N Masuda (AMAJILL) was fined the sum of $100 for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m.
