Race 1: GCTC Skyline Restaurant QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Prince of Flinders 2nd – Drummle 3rd – Magnitude Lad 4th – Buddy Hollow

MAGNITUDE LAD – Began awkwardly. Bumped approaching the 400m. Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight. Raced wide without cover throughout.

YOU’RE SO VAIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with the near side barrier partition.

PRINCE OF FLINDERS – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.

MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN – Near the 400m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room. Hung out for the majority of the event. Trainer S. Hunter was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

ON THE SIDE – Bumped approaching the 400m.


Race 2: GCTC Event Centre Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Heartford 2nd – Duble Meaning 3rd – Jekota 4th – Lovesong

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer M. Eggleston for the late declaration of K. Stanley as rider of TWILIGHT PRINCESS.

SUNSET AVENUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

DR DEEJAY – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the home straight and over the concluding stages was held up on the heels of PELLONIA.

THELLYSON – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped JEKOTA.

LOVESONG – Approaching the 600m laid in and bumped AZORES. Bumped by IN NEPAL near the 500m.

AZORES – Bumped by LOVESONG near the 600m and a short distance later shifted in making contact with SHABBY CHIC.

SHABBY CHIC – Approaching the 600m was bumped by AZORES, became unbalanced and lost ground.

IN NEPAL – Leaving the 500m shifted out to improve and bumped LOVESONG.

TWILIGHT PRINCESS – Inclined to lay in in the home straight.

PELLONIA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HOT LITTLE VIXEN – Raced wide throughout.

DUBLE MEANING – Jockey J. Morris reported that the saddle slipped back placing him at a disadvantage for the majority of the race.

JEKOTA – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey L. Rolls stated that his intention was to take up a position just off the speed however the gelding blundered on jumping away. Jockey Rolls noted that the gelding had been slow to begin in its jump outs leading in to today’s race. Jockey Rolls added that after travelling a short distance he elected to restrain to obtain a position in behind TWILIGHT PRINCESS but shortly afterwards he was obliged to ride the gelding along during the middle stages to maintain his position. Jockey Rolls further added that once able to obtain clear running in the home straight the gelding finished the race off well.

J. Morris the rider of DUBLE MEANING was fined $300.00 for returning to scale in excess of a ½ kilo overweight.

Race 3: GCTC Crystal Lounge Maiden Plate – 2200m
1st – Cool Water 2nd – Splendid Stryker 3rd – Terahlee 4th – Jam With The Duke

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly, lost ground and then when overracing in the early and middle stages shifted out near the 1700m and bumped COOL WATER. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between runners.

COOL WATER – Near the 1700m was bumped by JAM WITH THE DUKE, shifted out and made contact with EL TOBY. Inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the home turn.

EL TOBY – Bumped near the 1700m. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

SPLENDID STRYKER – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1400m.

SHEZ EKTRAORDINARY – Near the 1700m improved onto the heels of JAM WITH THE DUKE and had to be checked. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey S. Galloway stated that despite travelling well in the early and middle stages the mare was under pressure leaving the 800m. Jockey Galloway added that despite his efforts the mare was unable to maintain contact with the field and finished the event a distant last. Trainer B. Laming was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance however, undertook to have veterinary and blood tests performed in the subsequent days. Stewards advised Mr Laming in the event further tests failed to identify any abnormalities the results of an endoscopic examination along with an official trial will be required prior to the horse racing again. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.

MAKAS KING RULER – Near the 1300m shifted wider and improved forward to the lead near the 1000m.

MR MALU – Near the 1300m shifted out and improved forward to a position outside the leader near the 800m.

D. Griffin the rider of SPLENDID STRYKER was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.


Race 4: GCTC Corporate Suites Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Ranked 2nd – First Rain 3rd – Kentaur 4th – Adizero

CASHINKO – Blundered on jumping away.

I’M ADAMANT – Slow to begin.

GO ON RED – Raced fiercely for the majority of the event despite the efforts of its rider and as a consequence began to weaken leaving the 400m.

RANKED – Near the 400m had to be checked when tightened for room and lost ground. Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run between ADIZERO and FIRST RAIN, which laid in and was obliged to shift out in order to obtain clear running.

C. Small the rider of PINK CHAPERONE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of RANKED, resulting in that runner being taken out onto the heels of CASHINKO, having to be checked and lose ground. C. Small’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 30 January 2016 and to expire midnight 8 February 2016. Jockey Small was also reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

App M. Murphy the rider of KENTAUR was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

M. Paget the rider of ADIZERO reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.


Race 5: GCTC Functions 7 Days A Week BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Bagger Chance 2nd – Natural Dancer 3rd – Florida Fellow 4th – Charge Missile

BAGGER CHANCE – Raced wide throughout.

CHARGE MISSILE – Raced wide throughout.


Race 6: GCTC The Dome, Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Real Sting 2nd – Felton Road 3rd – Brumby Jack 4th – Steering

PUDMARDELS – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.

LEGAL COUNSEL – Held up rounding the home turn and upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the outside of LAKE ARGYLE. Again held up over the final 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SEQUASI – Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the inside of FAMOUS GROUSE.

IN BANGKOK – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Bumped by ASTHECOURTCOMMANDS over the concluding stages.

FAMOUS GROUSE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m.

ASTHECOURTCOMMANDS – Bumped by IN BANGKOK over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.

LAKE ARGYLE – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

FLINDERS DEAGON – Raced wide throughout.


Race 7: GCTC Winners Circle Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Rainbow Lace 2nd – Pompeii Flyer 3rd – Marlene Adele 4th – Overstatement

Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App S. Eilbeck as rider of SEBRING CITY .

MORE FOR ME – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. Leaving the 200m was inconvenienced by OVERSTATEMENT, which shifted out marginally.

CASTA LA CAT – Blundered on jumping away and shortly thereafter was hampered by another runner. A post race veterinary examination of the mare, which tailed the field throughout, revealed an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer N. Stewart was advised that the results of an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the mare racing again.

POMPEII FLYER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

MORNING FOG – Began awkwardly and bumped SEBRING CITY.

SEBRING CITY – Bumped on jumping away. Bumped by FACE THE SUN near the 100m. App S. Eilbeck reported her mount failed to travel comfortably throughout the race. Trainer J. Smerdon will be interviewed at a later date.

FACE THE SUN – Hampered shortly after the start. Bumped by SEBRING CITY near the 100m.

JETTY BETTY – Passing the 600m improved onto the heels of RAINBOW LACE and had to be steadied.

OVERSTATEMENT – Near the 100m was obliged to shift out around the heels of RAINBOW LACE to secure clear running.

MARLENE ADELE – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.

AUDELLA – When questioned as to the tactics adopted, particularly in the early stages, jockey G. Goold stated that from the wide barrier today his intention was to take up a position at the rear of the field. Jockey Goold added that in the early stages when positioned outside of CASTA LA CAT he expected that runner to cross to the fence and was content to race to its outside in the early stages. Jockey Goold noted that the mare resented being ridden aggressively and for this reason was reluctant to place it under undue pressure during the early stages. Jockey Goold further added that passing the 800m he became concerned with the amount of ground he had lost on the remainder of the field and commenced to ride the mare along, at which point it began to improve into the race and when placed under pressure upon straightening finished the race off well. Jockey Goold agreed with stewards and conceded in hindsight he had erred in the early stages by allowing the mare to lose contact with the body of the field.




Race 8: #GCTC Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Lever Lever 2nd – Bullitt County 3rd – Tactician 4th – Laurinoor

ROBARD – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Upon straightening had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MUTUAL BENEFIT.

SILVERENE – Slow to begin.

MUTUAL BENEFIT – Slow to begin.

BLACKJACK PRINCESS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

THE DARK PASSENGER – Raced wide throughout.
