Race 1: Sky Racing Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Hidden Light 2nd – Halpin 3rd – Moss Princess 4th – Torre Saracino

EL NINO’S BAMBINO – Stewards permitted the filly to race in blinkers and pacifiers instead of the advertised visor as the filly had raced in this gear at its previous start. Public announcements were made to this effect.

At the request of its rider STORM ANCHOR was examined by the veterinary surgeon and found to be lame in the off fore leg. The gelding was withdrawn by order of stewards at 10.57am. All monies invested on STORM ANCHOR were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 10.57am:

1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #14 – Hidden Light

Trainer R Drysdale was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start.

FAST VISION - Began awkwardly.

MOSS PRINCESS - Slow to begin. Near the 250m obliged to shift inwards when awkwardly placed at the heels of GOOD GRACIOUS MAE.

ROTHA’S ROSE - Slow to begin.

EL NINO’S BAMBINO - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SWIFT TILLY - Near the 250m inconvenienced by MOSS PRINCESS.

After the running of Race 1, the track was downgraded to a SOFT 5.

Race 2: S & R Ball Property Investments Maiden Plate – 2200m
1st – Holy Harry 2nd – Palmer 3rd – Puissance Decheval 4th – Mantecado

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden further back in the field today. When questioned as to the change of tactics, stable representative M Downes confirmed that the jockey had been instructed to ride the gelding further back in the field than at its 2 most recent starts. Mr Downes stated the instructions had been issued on the basis that the gelding had been failing to finish its races off when ridden close to the speed. Trainer J Morrisey was fined the sum of $200 for failing to advise Stewards of these change in tactics at least 30 minutes prior to the race as stipulated under AR135A.

PIPPOS –Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin.

XYLOPHONE - Began awkwardly. Upon straightening steadied when placed in restricted room.

FAVULOUS FLOYD – Blundered at the start and a short distance later was steadied when tightened for room. Commenced to over-race leaving the 1400m and then raced 3 wide for the remainder of the event.

PUISSANCE DECHEVAL - Blundered at the start. Over the concluding stages steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of HOLY HARRY.

MANTECADO - Raced 3 wide from the 800m.



ENDLESS DON - When questioned as to the performance, Jockey A Taylor stated that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages. Ms Taylor added that as a consequence of the slow tempo she was unable to improve into the race between the 800m and 400m which in her opinion had a detrimental effect on the gelding’s performance.

Race 3: Giddy Up Arley QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1400m
1st – Devil’s Fire 2nd – Taillevent 3rd – Mr Epic

LIKE A RULER was a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 10.45am acting on veterinary advice after the colt was injured en route to the course. Trainer D J Bougoure was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the horse’s next race start.

TAILLEVENT - Passing the 1200m over-raced for a short distance and in doing so shifted out and settled outside DEVIL’S FIRE and in doing so bumped MR EPIC.

MR EPIC – Bumped by TAILLEVENT near the 1200m.

Jockey J Morris (MR EPIC) was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of Jockey Morris’ poor record.

Race 4: Switch Electrical QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Eve’s Jet 2nd – Denlago 3rd – Real Classic 4th – Sidere

PERILOUS LOVE – Stable advised that the filly would be ridden vigorously in the early stages in an effort to obtain a position close to the speed. Began awkwardly. Failed to muster speed despite the efforts of its rider and settled at the rear of the field. Bumped leaving 900m.

REAL CLASSIC - Began awkwardly. Passing the 1000m steadied when bumped by MY CRIMSON LAD on a number of occasions. Raced wide throughout.

MISS KINDILAN - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped WESTBROOK WARRIOR. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and in doing so improved onto the heels of SIDERE near the 1000m and shifted out causing interference to other runners. Then continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event. Held up rounding the home turn and near the 50m shifted out and was steadied from the heels of DENLAGO. Trainer B Lockwood was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly’s racing manners. Mr Lockwood indicated that he would trial the filly prior to its next race start.

WESTBROOK WARRIOR - Bumped at the start. A short distance later was hampered by MISS KINDILAN.

INVINCIBOY - Slow to begin. Passing the 900m commenced to over-race and checked from the heels of BOLD HEART, shifted in and bumped PERILOUS LOVE. Passing the 100m disappointed for a run and then held up over the concluding stages.

ROYAL ROUTINE - Began awkwardly. Laid in during the early stages of event. Raced wide throughout.

ATOUCHMORE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

REMI ROCKS – Raced wide throughout.

BEYOND BRAVE – Leaving the 1000m steadied when the leader EVE’S JET slowed the tempo and as a consequence shifted out around the heels of that runner.

MY CRIMSON LAD - Approaching the 1100m steadied from the heels of BEYOND BRAVE which shifted in. Jockey B Stewart (BEYOND BRAVE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Near the 1000m improved onto the heels of DENLAGO and had to be checked and in doing so bumped REAL CLASSIC on a number of occasions. Near the 900m checked again when tightened for room between REAL CLASSIC and BOLD HEART which was taken out by MISS KINDILAN which was racing ungenerously and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.

DENLAGO - Near the 1000m steadied when BEYOND BRAVE shifted away from the fence around the heels of the leader EVE’S JET. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained small lacerations to both hind legs.

BOLD HEART – Near the 600m improved onto heels and had to be checked.

SIDERE - Lost its near hind plate during running.

Race 5: Cordner Super Advisory QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Treasure Gallery 2nd – Captain’s Pick 3rd – Billy the Kid 4th – Tempete Rouge

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer D Stafford for the late declaration of Jockey Michael Hellyer as the rider of FLAMING GRACE.

TREASURE GALLERY - Began awkwardly.

BILLY THE KID - Slow to begin. A short distance later hampered by MR ADJUDICATOR. Raced 3 wide without cover for majority of event.

NORDIC SHOW - Slow to begin. A short distance later steadied when tightened for room. Held up rounding home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

FAMOUS ATTRACTION - Slow to begin. A short distance later steadied when tightened for room.

FLAMING GRACE - Began awkwardly.

OVERLAP - Near the 1000 steadied from the heels of TEMPETE ROUGE which was racing greenly and in doing so shifted in and away from MR ADJUDICATOR. Near the 600m steadied from the heels of TEMPETE ROUGE.

MR ADJUDICATOR - Near the 1000m steadied from the heels of OVERLAP. Raced wide throughout.

SAME OLD – Raced wide during the early stages.

Race 6: Broadbeach Holiday Apartments Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Hollywood Barbie 2nd – Nautilus 3rd – Extreme Style 4th – Zimbali

NAUTILUS - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected. Trainer P Duncan was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Held up for clear running between the 300m and 200m.

IBERIA - Slow to begin.

ROCKDAY - Slow to begin. Bumped by VALTARI upon straightening.

VALTARI - Upon straightening was inclined to lay in under pressure and bumped ROCKDAY.

BAY RAIDER - Over-raced during the early stages.

Race 7: Stonehouse Class 5 H’cap – 1100m
1st – Limerick Moon 2nd – Simply Ming 3rd – Hashtag Noidea 4th dead heat My Maisie & Go Better

SAGARONNE – Began awkwardly and attempted to buck for the first 200m of the event and then failed to stretch out thereafter and as a consequence did not take any competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. A swab sample was taken. Stable representative Mr Trent Edmonds was advised that the filly would have to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.

SIMPLY MING - Slow to begin.

JAMES IS BLONDE - Began awkwardly. Jockey V Johnston reported that after beginning awkwardly she rode the gelding along to obtain a forward position however after obtaining a position outside MY MAISIE, the gelding commenced to over-race and refused to settle despite her efforts.

LIMERICK MOON - Near the 900m steadied when placed in restricted room. Bumped by MR MAISIE near the 250m.

GO BETTER - Upon straightening, disappointed for a run to the outside of HASHTAG NOIDEA, then obliged to shift back to the inside of that runner to secure clear running.

MY MAISIE – Jockey A Taylor reported that the mare hung out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and in doing so bumped LIMERICK MOON near the 250m. Jockey Taylor added that the mare failed to race tractably on today’s surface.

Jockey A Taylor (MY MAISIE) was fined the sum of $200 for failing to ride MY MAISIE out to the end of the race.

Race 8: Cordner Advisory Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Endless Days 2nd – Rolling Roman 3rd – Bound for Love 4th – Toronto Flyer

PALEFACE ALI – Began awkwardly and bumped OLD TEX. Near the 150m shifted in and away from SNITZEL’S BELLE and had to be steadied.

OLD TEX - Bumped at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

ROLLING ROMAN - Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. Bumped by BOUND FOR LOVE over the concluding stages.

TORONTO FLYER - Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Momentarily held up upon straightening.

BOUND FOR LOVE - Leaving the 900m steadied when tightened for room between AIR FORCE ONE and OUR CATCH which shifted in. Jockey M Palmer (OUR CATCH) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstance. Leaving the 100m shifted in and bumped ENDLESS DAYS and a short distance later became unbalanced when bumped by ENDLESS DAYS and taken out onto ROLLING ROMAN.

GRECIAN SUMMER – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and then near the 150m checked when tightened for room by PALEFACE ALI which shifted in and away from SNITZEL’S BELLE despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

SNITZEL’S BELLE – Rounding the home turn, steadied when placed in restricted room between PEGAPUS and AIR FORCE ONE which shifted out marginally. Held up for clear running over the final 100m.

PEGAPUS –Near the 300m improved onto the heels of MIRANDA JANE and had to be steadied and shift back to the inside to secure clear running.

ENDLESS DAYS - Leaving the 100m bumped by BOUND FOR LOVE, became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped BOUND FOR LOVE.

AIR FORCE LOVE – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

ESKIMO KING – It was reported that the gelding lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 9: GCOMM Open H’cap – 1400m
1st – Gold Horizon 2nd – Aldini 3rd – Ruling Force 4th – Crooked Stick

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey Ric McMahon the rider of CROOKED STICK which finished 4th against RULING FORCE (B Stower) being declared the 3rd placegetter on the grounds of interference near the 400m. After giving consideration to all the evidence Stewards established that CROOAKED STICK had to be steadied leaving the 400m when tightened for room between MISCHIEVOUS DEVIL which shifted in and DOUSAICHI which was taken out marginally by RULING FORCE. As Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that RULING FORCE was the sole contributor to the interference suffered by CROOKED STICK and also bearing in mind the way in which both runners finished the event off over the concluding stages and given the margin of 1 length, Stewards subsequently dismissed the objection.

REGULAR - Began awkwardly and hampered a short distance later. Leaving 1100m commenced to over-race and continued to do so for some distance resulting in the gelding shifting wider on the track passing the 900m when unable to be restrained by its rider and then raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

RED LETTER DAY – Began awkwardly.

MISCHIEVOUS DEVIL - Slow to begin. Leaving the 400m shifted in and bumped CROOKED STICK.

TERONADO - Near the 900m bumped by TAN TAT DIAMOND and taken wider on the track. Raced wide throughout.

RETUNE - Raced wide throughout.

CROOKED STICK - Upon straightening steadied when tightened for room between MISCHIEVOUS DEVIL which shifted in and DOUSAICHI which was taken out marginally by RULING FORCE. As a consequence CROOKED STICK was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.

TAN TAT DIAMOND – Near the 900m inconvenienced by REGULAR when that runner was over-racing and shifted out. When questioned as to the performance Jockey A Allen stated that after suffering interference passing the 900m he was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the trip. Jockey Allen added that whilst obliged to cover extra ground he was still somewhat disappointed in the filly’s performance. Trainer S O’Dea will be interviewed at a later date. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.


Race 10: Tony Cordner Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Generate 2nd – Choice Princess 3rd – Redsson 4th – Jetfire

LILLY THE FILLY - Began awkwardly and shortly after the start bumped and lost ground. Hung out rounding the home turn.

OLJA - Slow to begin. Bumped passing the 1000m.

HENRYVONHUFEISEN - Bumped on jumping away and became unbalanced and as a consequence lost ground.

JETFIRE - Bumped passing the 1000m. Held up during the early stages of the home straight.

GRESELIN - Leaving the 1000m steadied from the heels of OLJA.

REDSSON – Connections advised that REDSSON would be ridden back in the field today. Ridden accordingly. Raced wide throughout.

LAKOTA SIOUX - Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.

MYSTICAL RENEGADE - Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near 150m checked and lost ground when tightened for room. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

Jockey Matthew Palmer (REDSSON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in passing the 150m when insufficiently clear of MYSTICAL RENEGADE. As a consequence MYSTICAL RENEGADE had to be checked and lost ground when tightened for room between JETFIRE and REDSSON. Jockey Palmer was suspended from riding in races for 8 days to commence midnight 19/06/2016 and to expire midnight 27/06/2016.
