RACE 1: Lloyds Auctions QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate 900m
 
BALERION Near the 600m when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of MISS ESTER, which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey N. Thomas (MISS ESTER) was cautioned and reminded to give greater clearance when crossing in the future. Bumped heavily near the 400m and became unbalanced.
 
BRINKMANSHIP Near the 400m shifted out and made heavy contact with BALERION. When questioned regarding the performance jockey L. Rolls explained that the colt was inclined to lay out throughout the event and never travelled comfortably.. He added that the colt bumped heavily with BALERION near the 400m and was disappointing in its finishing effort in the home straight.. Trainer H. Page advised she will monitor how the horse recovers from the race in the coming days and will make a decision with its current preparation. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
MISS ESTER Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
 
RACE 2: Lloyds Asset Services Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap 1200m
 
LORD OF THE DREAMZ Slow to begin. Passing the 600m shifted out from the heels of AMERICAN ENEMY. Approaching and rounding the home turn and in the home straight until passing the 200m was unable to secure clear running. Jockey B. Grylls reported at scale that her mount raced greenly during the race.
 
FOXY AFFAIR Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Held up over the final stages when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
STRAIGHT HOME Jumped awkwardly making contact with TIME TO REMEMBER. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
TIME TO REMEMBER Bumped on the hind quarters at the start.
 
MOHAKA RIVER For some distance passing the 700m when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of TIME TO REMEMBER.
 
GRANOLA STATE Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Trainer C. Anderson was questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding as compared to its most recent start. Mr Anderson explained that the gelding was having its second start for his stable today and raced flat last start when obliged to cover additional ground.. He added that the gelding has improved in its fitness since that run and was aided with the removal of winkers and the addition of blinkers for todays run. The explanation was noted.
 
PAGE ONE When asked to comment on the disappointing performance jockey A. Allen stated that the gelding could not muster early speed and when racing at the rear of the field he attempted to pressure the horse and it commenced to hang out proving difficult to ride and was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. The stable representative was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again and he undertook to report to stewards the results of veterinary tests to be carried out in the coming days.
 
 
RACE 3: Lloyds Auctions Fillies & Mares Maiden Handicap 1200m
 
SWEET CAVIAR Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. The stable representative was advised that the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate in a trial prior to racing again.
 
CALISTO Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ON SHOW Overraced in the early stages.
 
BIRDY OOREILLY Passing the 500m became awkward when racing in restricted room to the inside of MOTHER SAID. Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that the filly did not quicken when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight and was disappointing. Trainer D. Vandyke was also disappointed in the performance and undertook to report to stewards anything that may come to light in the coming days which would explain the performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a small amount of blood in its mouth but no other significant findings.
 
DIAMONDS ON RUBY Trainer A. Willick was questioned regarding the improved performance. Ms Willick explained that the mare was immature at its first preparation and she was confident of a forward showing today and it had recently won a trial. The explanation was noted.
RACE 4: Lloyds Fine Art Auctions BenchMark 65 Handicap 900m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Guy for the late declaration of A. Allen as the rider of GO BETTER.
 
CHARLEE BEAR Slow to begin. Approaching 600m had to be checked when tightened for room by STELLARCRAFT, which after being tightened by CASH N RUN shifted in away from that runner.. App B. Nothdurft (CASH N RUN) will be advised to show greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
GO BETTER Severely checked soon after the start and tightened for room between CALLIGRAPHER and CASH N RUN, which was taken out by ROUND MOUTAIN GEM. Near the 500m shifted out abruptly and had to be checked from the heels of CAPTAIN TANGO. Continued to hang out rounding the home turn. Trainer B. Guy advised the gelding will now be retired from racing.
 
CASH N RUN Severely hampered soon after the start when bumped heavily by ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM. App B. Nothdurft reported at scale his saddle shifted soon after the start which placed him at a disadvantage throughout the race.
 
CARAMIDA DE AUR Made the home turn awkwardly when racing in restricted room. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the near fore leg.
 
STELLARCRAFT - Stewards questioned jockey N. Day regarding his riding in the home straight.. Of particular concern was the reason for him not testing the horse in his normal manner. Jockey Day explained that he slapped the horse down the shoulder in the early stages of the home straight and it did not quicken as he expected, which he attributed to the 60 kilos today. He added that STELLARCRAFT was not going well enough to obtain a run between ROUND MOUTAIN GEM and CAPTAIN TANGO approaching the 200m and when CAPTAIN TANGO shifted in under pressure STELLARCARFT was awkwardly placed at heels over the final stages of the race. Stewards noted his explanation however, advised him to ride in a manner that does not leave him open to question.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
 
RACE 5: Lloyds Car Auctions Class 2 Handicap 1400m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer K. Schweida for the late declaration of B. Grylls as the rider of EL SHADAY.
 
AWAKE THE STARS Hampered at the start by FUSI FOX. Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
ZAP Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Near the 600m improved between CAPTAIN DODGE and PUNISHING where there was insufficient room and had to be restrained by its rider.
 
SCARLETT HUSSIE Hampered near the 500m when ZAP shifted out.
 
PUNISHING Stewards questioned jockey M. Hellyer regarding the disappointing performance. He explained that the gelding never travelled well and was most disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
VANILLA JEWEL When questioned regarding the performance jockey L. Rolls explained that the mare was able to lead in the early stages but did not travel entirely comfortable in the middle stages of the race and did not quicken as he expected when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination no significant finding.
 
Jockey D. McLellan (AWAKE THE STARS) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
RACE 6: Rosies Friends On The Street BenchMark 65 Handicap 1800m
 
NELUMBO Slow to begin.
 
THREE POINTS Near the 1700m had to be restrained towards the rear of the field. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight. Passing the 200m was disappointed for a run between SHEES A YOUEFFOH and ANZIO.
 
SON OF A BRUT Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
 
KID CRUIZE Passing the 600m put in an awkward stride, became unbalanced and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
PLANET AMERICA A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
App J. Murphy the rider of SHARP SPEEDO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that passing the 1600m he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of KID CRUIZE, which had to be checked when tightened for room between SHARP SPEEDO and the running rail. App Murphys licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 31 October 2017 and expire midnight 8 November 2017.. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his good record and guilty plea.
 
RACE 7: Rosies Reaches Out To The Most Abandoned Class 1 Handicap 1200m.
 
Stewards will interview trainer M. Dunn regarding the late declaration of A. Allen as the rider of CALL THE COPPERS.
 
FLOREANA Knuckled at the start and shifted out making heavy contact with CONQUERS ALL.
 
CONQUERS ALL Jumped awkwardly and shifted in. Overraced badly in the early stages and near the 800m shifted out taking CALL THE COPPERS wider. Near the 250m was disappointed for a run between OUR BOY BEN and CALL THE COPPERS, which shifted out slightly. Trainer D. Graham was advised that a warning would be placed against the geldinggs racing manners today.
 
LEROY ROCKS When the pace steadied near the 800m had to be restrained from the heels of MISS AMBER. Again had to be restrained from the heels of MISS AMBER>approaching the 600m and then shifted out in order to improve.
 
OUR BOY BEN Hampered near the 600m by CONQUERS ALL, which when overracing shifted out.
 
CALL THE COPPERS Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey A. Allen dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
 
ARMET - A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
HACKSAW RIDGE A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a large laceration to the off hind tendon. Trainer L. Kelly will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
RACE 8: Aquis Park BenchMark 75 Handicap
1400m
 
Stewards will interview trainer B. Currie regarding the late declaration of App J. Woodhouse as the rider of GULLY COMMAND.
 
Subject to any further submissions trainer P. Kings was fined $100 for failing to declare R. Plumb as the rider of BENICOS PRINCE.
 
LUCKY LUCRE Slow to begin.
 
GULLY COMMAND Blundered at the start and lost ground. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
BLOOMING TYCOON Raced in restricted room for some distance approaching and passing the 1100m to the inside of LEGAL COUNSEL.
 
THE EQUALIZER Overraced in the middle stages and near the 500m shifted out and bumped GULLY COMMAND.
 
RISING STOCK Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Jockey S. Doyle the rider of SNAPPER was issued with a charge of careless riding for allowing his mount to shift out under riding when not clear of POLYNIKES, resulting in POLYNIKES being checked when tightened for room between SNAPPER and RISING STOCK. After considering submissions from jockey Doyle in that he was taken out significantly prior to this incident by BLOOMING TYCOON, which shifted out to his inside in order to obtain clear running. Stewards could not be satisfied that jockey Doyle rode in a careless manner and therefore did not sustain the charge.. Jockey J. Taylor (BLOOMING TYCOON) was issued with a reprimand for allowing BLOOMING TYCOON to shift out abruptly approaching the 100m to the outside of the heels of LEGAL COUNSEL in order to obtain clear running. Stewards were satisfied that SNAPPER shifted out away from that runner, which resulted in the interference sustained to POLYNIKES.
