Race 1: TAB QTIS 2YO Plate – 1400m
 
UNCOMPLICATED – Slow to begin.
 
CORVO – Slow to begin. App B. Nothdurft was reminded of his obligations in regards to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
SEE MARIE – Slow to begin.
 
SINO DEFEAT – Blundered on jumping.
 
NEUTRON – Raced ungenerously and threw its head in the air in the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: AQUIS Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation for M. Palmer being declared the rider and unable to fulfil his engagement on GREYT INTENTIONS.
 
TEXAS TRAMP was declared a late scratching at 12.14 p.m. acting on veterinary advice after displaying blood in the near side nostril after arriving at the barriers. All monies invested on TEXAS TRAMP were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 12.14 p.m.

Trainer L. Gore was advised the mare must gallop over 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
SAMURAI was examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers at the request of its rider and cleared to start.
 
The start was delayed when FAST THINKER reared in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
RIVERKY – After being fractious in the barriers bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m and raced wide in the middle stages.
 
HAWAIIAN GEM – Jumped out at the start bumping SHIVAJI.
 
SHIVAJI – Jumped inwards at the start bumping HAWAIIAN GEM.
 
RED POET – Slow to begin.
 
COME IN SPINNER – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Jockey R. Palmer reported the gelding resented having its tail held in the barriers and as a result lost considerable ground. Whilst the explanation was noted Trainer J. Dunn was nonetheless advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
FAST THINKER – Jockey M. Cahill reported the saddle shifted back soon after the start placing him at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 3: AQUIS Benchmark 90 Handicap – 2400m
 
ROMAKASH – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
FIGHTING TEO – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
Jockey M. Du Plessis (BROCSON) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Du Plessis’ exemplary record in regards to this Rule.
 
 
Race 4: XXXX Dry Fillies & Mares Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1200m
 
The start was delayed when NORDIC SHOW became fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 1.28 p.m. All monies invested on NORDIC SHOW were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.28 p.m.

The start was further delayed when JADENTOM became fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
STAR REFLECTION – Shifted out on jumping bumping WINTER PASSAGE.
 
WINTER PASSAGE – Bumped by STAR REFLECTION, which shifted out on jumping.
 
JADENTOM – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: TAB Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1200m
 
DEFENCE MISSILE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
DON’T LEAVE ME OUT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that the gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing under the provisions of AR79(4).
 
RHYME NOR RHYTHM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer L. Hatch was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding racing again.
 
App J. Huxtable (STARKERS) was reminded of his obligations in regards to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
App J. Murphy (VALARIO) was reminded of his obligations in regards to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 

Race 6: TAB QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $200 for failing to submit a gear change to remove the blinkers on MANAGUA by the prescribed time. The relevant public announcements were made to this effect.
 
Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $200 for failing to submit a gear change for KINGSCOTE by the prescribed time. As this was the gelding’s first start Stewards permitted it to race in blinkers, tongue-tie and a lugging bit. The relevant public announcements were made to this effect.
 
ESSE – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load. Retired from the race in the home straight when its rider C. Taylor felt the horse was not comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer J. Pritchard was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Ms Pritchard further advised Stewards that after arriving back at the stables and having her veterinary surgeon examine the gelding it was found to have sustained a strain to its hamstring on its off hind leg.
 
TO DEM WITH LOVE – Slow to begin.
 
CHALET GRAND – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
KINGSCOTE – Shifted out shortly after the start bumping PETRALIA. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
PETRALIA – After being slow to begin was then bumped by KINGSCOTE, which shifted out. Overraced in the early stages.
 
SHOULDERS – On returning to scale Jockey A. Chau reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn.
 
MANAGUA – On returning to scale jockey R. Maloney reported he felt his mount was stepping short in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 7: AQUIS Benchmark 72 Handicap – 1800m
 
STARLIGHTER – Restrained near the 500m when racing in restricted room and lost ground.
 
SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Hatch subsequently advised Stewards that following the event the mare was showing signs of tying up and that he would have his veterinary surgeon examine SHUDA KNOWN BETTER in the coming days. Mr Hatch further gave an undertaking to report any condition that may come to light.
 
Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason STARLIGHTER was restrained near the 500m and lost its position. After hearing evidence from riders J. Guthmann-Chester (STARLIGHTER), S. Cormack (SET THE BAR HIGH), R. Maloney (FAIRY ME HOME) and M. Du Plessis (WARSET) it was established that STARLIGHTER raced in restricted room leaving the 600m when SET THE BAR HIGH shifted out around the heels of the tiring SHUDA KNOWN BETTER. A marginal shift outwards from SET THE BAR HIGH and a marginal shift inwards from FAIRY ME HOME placed STARLIGHTER in restricted room, which was not travelling well enough to hold that position and was restrained. As Stewards deemed that no one rider had been careless in this incident the matter was reported as such.
 
Jockey R. Maloney (FAIRY ME HOME) was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 8:TAB Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
CANAPES – Slow to begin. Tightened for room near the 900m and when being checked shifted out inconveniencing PRINCESS SPARKLES.
 
SEA RAIDER – Crowded for room shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
 
PRINCESS SPARKLES – Checked near the 900m to avoid the heels of CANAPES, which shifted out when being checked.
 
Jockey R. Fradd (FISTICUFFS) was found guilty of a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that leaving the 1000m and approaching 900m he applied pressure to CANAPES bumping on a number of occasions and then continued to shift in near the 900m resulting in CANAPES having to be checked and lose ground inconveniencing PRINCESS SPARKLES. Jockey Fradd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 6 June 2020 and expire midnight 14 June 2020. Stewards deemed this incident low range.
 
 
Race 9: AQUIS QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1400m
 
ALL BOOM – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer S. Morrisey was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
MAOZI – Overraced in the early stages.
 
MISHANI BLOSSOM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISHANI ROMANCE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
