Race 1: HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY BRENDAN HUGGETT Class 4 Handicap 900 metres

USURP – Severely checked near the 400 metres to avoid the heels of GHABBIE, which shifted in. Apprentice M. Kennedy, in the presence of senior rider T. Harrison, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 400 metres she permitted her mount GHABBIE to shift in under riding when not sufficiently clear of USURP, resulting in that runner being severely checked and losing ground. Apprentice M. Kennedy had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence at midnight on 4 October 2020 and to expire at midnight on 13 October 2020. Stewards deemed this incident to be a mid-range offence. Stewards further took into account Ms Kennedy’s guilty plea and her first breach under this rule of racing.

Tomizawa pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 900 metres he permitted his mount MENINDEE to shift in when not sufficiently clear of GO FACTOR, resulting in that runner being taken in onto the rightful running of GO BETTER, which had to be checked and lose his rightful running. Rider N. Tomizawa had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of ten (10) days to commence at midnight on 26 September 2020 to expire at midnight on 6 October 2020.
