RACE 1: SKY RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES
 
The start of the race was delayed approximately 14 minutes due to the electronic starter malfunctioning, which resulted in all horses having to be removed from the barriers and upon removal from the barriers, a veterinary examination was undertaken of CASH ON FIRE and its rider, N Callow, who required the assistance of the Queensland Ambulance Service, and other contributing factors as reported below.
 
FIELD REGIMENT – Slow to begin.
 
CASH ON FIRE – The gelding dislodged its rider upon exiting the mounting yard and travelled a short distance on the track before being captured. It underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. After being fractious in the barrier and dislodging its rider, it was removed from its barrier and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. The gelding was found to have sustained a laceration to its near side shoulder and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 11:59am by order of Stewards. Rider N Callow was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was stood down from his remaining engagements due to injury with the rider changes as per the raceday summary. Rider N Callow was advised a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all bets on CASH ON FIRE be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:

14 cents the win (PHILLY SPECIAL)
10 cents the place (PHILLY SPECIAL)
17 cents the place (JIMMY NEUTRON)
12 cents (RIGHT REASON)
 
Trainer G Heinrich’s stable representative was advised that a barrier certificate would be required be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
STRICTLY PHYSICAL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a minor injury to its left eye and was treated on course.  
 
PHILLY SPECIAL – Slow to begin.
 
RENDEZVOUS D’AMOUR – Slow to begin.
 
YOU CHOOSE – Passing the 200 metres, was obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of WORDS UNSPOKEN. 
 
TIMOTHY – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages.
 
WORDS UNSPOKEN – Passing the 200 metres, was momentarily steadied when JIMMY NEUTRON laid out.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Laid out under hard riding passing the 200 metres before being corrected by its rider. Rider A Fancourt was reminded of her obligations to ensure that she keeps her mount on a true line.
 
RACE 2: FOOD TRADERS AUSTRALIA QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
CONISMO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SON OF PHAROAH – Raced greenly throughout. Shifted in rounding the home turn bumping on several occasions with SWEAR ON A PROMISE. Near the 200 metres, again laid in bumping with SWEAR ON A PROMISE. Trainer K Schweida was advised that a warning would be placed on the colt’s racing manners.
 
DUNDAS – Pulled very hard in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle.
 
KAYTEE REINADO – Slow to begin. Shortly thereafter was awkwardly placed on heels and had to be steadied.
 
BAYERISCHE – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running at the top of the straight before securing a narrow run near the 250 metres.
 
OBER PURKLA – Held up for a short distance approaching the home turn.
 
IT’S ALL TALK – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Rider J Guthmann-Chester was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was stood down from his remaining engagements due to illness with the rider changes as per the raceday summary. Rider J Guthmann-Chester was advised a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.
 
SWEAR ON A PROMISE – Rider G Cartwright replaced rider J Bayliss as he was unable to make the allocated weight. Rider J Bayliss was fined $100.00 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight. Raced three-wide in the early stages before reaching a position outside the lead near the 700 metres. Rounding the home turn was bumped on several occasions when SON OF PHAROAH laid in when racing greenly. Bumped again by SON OF PHAROAH near the 200 metres.
 
 
RACE 3: AGRI FOOD INGREDIENTS CLASS 1 PLATE 900 METRES
 
AT THE HELM – Stewards permitted rider M Hellyer to replace rider N Callow due to injury. Bumped rounding the home turn by DANITES. A post-race veterinary examination revealed speedy cuts on both of the gelding’s hind limbs.
 
KINGSCOTE – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide throughout.
 
SACRED ZIM – Run queried. Blundered on jumping. When asked to comment on the colt’s performance, rider B Nothdurft reported that the colt slipped on jumping and then blundered. He was then obliged to settle at the rear of the field and look for runs nearer to the inside approaching the home turn before securing clear running passing the 300 metres.
 
DANITES – Laid in rounding the home turn, bumping with AT THE HELM.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT – Slow to begin. Steadied passing the 750 metres and awkwardly placed at the heels of AT THE HELM.
 
WORLD CHARMER – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
LEARNING CURVE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
SILVER BO – Buffeted between SACRED ZIM and LEARNING CURVE and lost ground.
 
FINAL OVATION – Restrained from the wide barrier. Raced three-wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 4: SPECTRUM TRANSPORT OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
SEA RAIDER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery.
 
FABULONH – Stewards permitted rider B Nothdurft to replace rider N Callow due to injury.Slow to begin. Laid in throughout the event.
 
GLEN ORD – Slow to begin.
 
TESARC – On returning to the enclosure, the gelding dislodged rider B El-Issa who reported that he felt some pain in his right arm and was fit to continue riding.
 
FABRICATOR – Stewards permitted rider A Fancourt to replace rider J Guthmann-Chester due to illness. Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 
 
THE IRONS – Laid in in the home straight. Near the 250 metres, had to be steadied away from SEA RAIDER.
 
TIOMO – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 5: ST DALFOUR FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
ASTRALIS – Stewards permitted rider A Allen to replace rider N Callow due to injury. Slow to begin. Shortly thereafter steadied from heels and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in near the 150 metres.
 
LIZA WITH A ZEE – Began awkwardly. Rider G Cartwright pleaded guilty and was fined $400.00 pursuant to AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to her mount passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying mild thumps.
 
HAMILTON HILL – Change of tactics. Trainer P Butterworth advised that it was the intention for the filly to be ridden with cover. After beginning awkwardly, raced three-wide and four-wide throughout. Put in an awkward stride approaching the 200 metres.
 
VIVID FORTRESS – Raced three-wide throughout. Rider B El-Issa was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service in relation to the pain in his right arm and was cleared to continue riding.
 
NOBLE WAR – Began awkwardly.
 
JOYFUL MISS – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 6: PLUSPAK COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
REALITY – Slow to begin.
 
ROGUE ROCKER – Stewards permitted rider A Mallyon to replace rider N Callow due to injury. Slow to begin.
 
ABDICATING – Raced three-wide throughout. Entering the home straight was bumped on the hindquarters by SHAMROCK LU.
 
ISAREADY – Slow to begin.
 
PHOENIX RIVER – Raced three-wide throughout. Passing the 700 metres, was steadied from the heels of ABDICATING, which shifted in. Rider J Woodhouse was advised to exercise greater care regarding this incident. Laid in under pressure passing the 100 metres. Approaching the finish line, was steadied between ABDICATING, which laid out, and REALITY, which was racing to its outside.  
 
SHAMROCK LU – Near the 900 metres, was tightened for racing room and shifted in and away from COPPER SUNSET, which was racing to its outside. Disappointed for a run entering the home straight before shifting back to the inside in an attempt to secure clear running.
 
NEXT DIMENSION – Near the 900 metres, was tightened for racing room and momentarily steadied when SHAMROCK LU shifted in and away from COPPER SUNSET, which was racing to its outside.
 
 
RACE 7: NICHE CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
READY TO HUMBLE – Near the 400 metres, after improving onto the heels of BOYLES, elected to shift back to its inside to secure clear running.  
 
EXPLOSIVE QUALITY – Stewards permitted rider A Mallyon to replace rider N Callow due to injury. When asked to comment on the mare’s performance, rider A Mallyon reported that he was satisfied with the mare’s efforts today, however he felt that the rise in class and a month between runs may have had an effect on the mare’s finishing effort.
 
DIVINE DIVA – Slow to begin.
 
PHIONAIX – Stewards questioned rider B El-Issa as to why his mount shifted away from the inside approaching the home turn. Rider B El-Issa felt that at that point in the race, whilst his mount was travelling fairly, that the section nearer to the fence was inferior, hence why he elected to shift wider to find better going. Rider El-Issa further added that he was very disappointed with the gelding’s overall performance.
 
ZOULOU DANCER – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 8: EDLYN FOODS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1800 METRES
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Bumped near the 1600 metres.
 
MOSS GO NOW – Raced in restricted ground shortly after jumping.
 
ZOUDICA – Stewards permitted rider L Dittman to replace rider N Callow due to injury. Laid in in the home straight. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider L Dittman reported that he could offer no explanation for the gelding’s disappointing performance. Trainer C Waller’s stable representative, B Killion, advised that he would report back to Stewards if anything is brought his attention over the coming days that may have affected the gelding’s performance.
 
THE HOUSEMAN – Raced in restricted ground shortly after jumping.
 
PRINCESS CAVALLO – Rider W Peel reported that, in her view, the mare did not run out a strong 1800 metres.
 
GET ON BOARD – Stewards permitted apprentice A Patis to replace rider J Guthmann-Chester due to illness. Raced in restricted ground shortly after jumping. The gelding lost its near hind plate during the event.
 
PUNCTUALITY – Raced three-wide throughout.
