GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 2- MIGHTY- J Orman +1/2kg
Race 4- REBEL NEWS- B Thornton +1/2kg
Race 7- DASH FOR DREAMS- J Huxtable +1/2kg
Race 8- KINLOCH- A Mallyon +1/2kg
 
Trainer Toby Edmonds was reprimanded for failing to scratch FREDERICK THE DANE, which was a dual acceptor at this meeting by the prescribed time. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful that FREDERICK THE DANE was initially an emergency in one of its races however was not scratched by the deadline required under LR36(7)(a).
 
 
Race 1: WEDDINGS AT TATTERSALL'S BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 900 metres
 
FREDERICK THE DANE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground and as a consequence settled further back than anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer T Edmonds was advised he would be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to next racing.
 
ABDICATING – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground. Cast its off-fore plate in running.
 
GLORIOUS RUBY – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
HEAD ON UP – Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled both from nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the mare had bled from both nostrils, it would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and will be required to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing.
 
COSMIC SERENADE – Bumped on jumping and as a result shifted in abruptly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LILLI LIGHTS OUT – Cast its off-fore plate in running.
 
THE KEWESS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
Race 2: GOLD COAST TURF CLUB 2YO PLATE 1100 metres
 
 
SALT LAKE BETTY – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load and then becoming fractious in the barriers. Trainer D Forster advised that in light of the performance of the filly, it would now be spelled immediately. Trainer D Forster was advised by stewards that the filly would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. Began awkwardly.
 
MIGHTY – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
TANGO FEVER – Over raced during the middle stages and improved onto heels near the 800m and was steadied.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a good 3.
 
Race 3: SIMON SAYS LANDSCAPING BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1700 metres
 
TREVELYAN – After being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1300m.
 
SLOW HANDS – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor reported that the gelding was not suited by the firm racing surface.
 
DRIVE A DEEL – Apprentice J Lloyd reported that the mare raced keenly during the event, however when placed under pressure failed to quicken as he had expected and ran on only fairly. Apprentice Lloyd added that the mare in his opinion raced flat today and may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
IRISH PLAYBOY – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Over raced during the middle stages.
 
COMMAND KING – Bumped on the hindquarters approaching the finish of the event.
 
INDIAN DREAMER – Disappointed for a run approaching the finish of the event.
 
MONTABOT – After beginning only fairly, was restrained in the early stages to a rearward position. Held up rounding the home turn until a point approaching the 100m.
 
AKIHIRO – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
RAGING POLE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LOVEPLANET – Tightened for room at the start. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Over raced during the middle stages.
 
Following race 3 jockey J Byrne was examined by the ambulance officials after suffering discomfort in his left hand which he attributed to SALT LAKE BETTY becoming fractious in the barriers prior to race 2. Jockey Byrne was subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
Race 4: COASTAL TIPPER HIRE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 metres
 
POET'S DAY- Declared a late scratching at 7:44am. Subsequently Trainer B Laming was fined $200 for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time AR181(1)(a).
 
TYRESA – Slow to begin.
 
REBEL NEWS – Began awkwardly, losing ground.
 
RED TOP – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
STORM THE FORTRESS – Held up from rounding the home turn up until a point near the 200m.
 
POCKET FULL – Over raced during the middle stages. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Bumped by another runner near the 300m and became unbalanced.
 
TOBA – Slow to begin.
 
WHISTLING SPIRIT – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 5: TATTERSALL'S ARCADE Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
CELESTIAL SOL – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Cast its near-fore plate in running.
 
SOKUDO – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
PRIME ASSET – Began awkwardly.
 
VACCINE – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
BARISTASISTA – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: THE CONSERVATORY AT TATTERSALL'S CLUB BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1100 metres
 
SHAMROCK LU – Raced four-wide without cover for the majority.
 
ZUMA CALIFORNIA – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer C Richardson was advised a warning would be issued against the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
HIGH COST – Approaching the 800m, whilst racing fiercely, improved onto heels and shifted out abruptly. Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
 
SHAMATON – Approaching the 800m, was inconvenienced and momentarily forced wider by another runner. Raced three-wide with cover for the majority.
 
MISS HIPSTAR – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
WRITTLE – Cast its off-hind plate in running.
 
Race 7: EUREKA STUD TATTERSALL'S CLASSIC 1200 metres
 
JUAN DIVA – Raced three-wide with cover for the majority.
 
CANADIAN DANCER – Improved onto heels and was steadied near the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn. Had difficulty securing clear running for the majority of the home straight.
 
ME ME LAGARDE – Slow to begin.
 
SALATEEN – Slow to begin. Improved on to heels and was steadied near the 600m.
 
TILIANAM – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
 
KISUKANO – Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced near the 350m. Jockey M Du Plessis advised that in his opinion the mare was reluctant to stretch out on the firm racing surface when placed under pressure and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
COCO ROX – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DASH FOR DREAMS – Connections advised that from the wide barrier it was the intention to ride the mare further back than at its most recent starts. Ridden accordingly.
 
SIESTA KEY – Raced three-wide with cover for the majority.
 
AMITY GAL – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor reported that the mare travelled comfortably in the leading position until a point entering the home straight, however when asked to quicken the mare did so for only a short distance and was under pressure from the 300m. Apprentice Wilson-Taylor added that in his opinion the mare was also not suited by the firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be short striding in front, however no further abnormalities were detected.
 
GIULIA – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
 
Race 8: SKY RACING TATTERSALL'S RECOGNITION STAKES 1350 metres
 
LONDON BANKER – Leaving the 1000m, steadied to avoid heels.
 
BLONDEAU – Slow to begin. Jockey L Cassidy was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
VINCO – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
LAST CHANCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery and to be exhibiting signs of the thumps.
 
KINLOCH – Passing the 1000m, was checked to avoid heels. At a subsequent inquiry jockey S Collett the rider of RUBAMOS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that as the rider of that gelding, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, resulting in WONDERFUL RIRI being forced inwards further resulting in KINLOCH, which was racing to the inside, being checked to avoid heels. Jockey Collett’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period nine days to commence at midnight 4th of December 2022 and to expire at midnight 13th December 2022.
 
Race 9: TATTERSALL'S LIFE MEMBERS BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1350 metres
 
VENTURA OCEAN – Jockey A Mallyon reported that the gelding was not suited by today’s firm racing surface.
 
RATHLIN – Momentarily raced in restricted room in the early stages of the home straight.
 
FIFTEEN ROUNDS – Raced three-wide with cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIVE OXFORD – Slow to begin.
 
RELEASE THE BEANS – Began awkwardly.
 
SUBTERRANEAN – Hampered at the start. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
 
RED BLOOM – Slow to begin.
 
THE TYLER – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
MENAZZI – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey M Harley accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.
