GENERAL

Trainer B. Robinson was fined $100 pursuant to LR28(1) for failing to have the ID card of SHAMIC in his possession.
 
Co-Trainer S. McLean was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider on SPIRIT OF MAC by the prescribed time.
 
Stewards accepted Trainer A. Campton explanation for failing to scratch dual acceptor KAREEM by the prescribed time.

Race 1: CORDNER TAX ADVISORY MAIDEN PLATE 2228M

ABOVEFORTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PREFER TO DANCE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start.
 
STATE OF AFFAIRS – Approaching the 1700m, commenced to race keenly, shifted out and inconvenienced BOLERO. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOLERO – Inconvenienced and taken wider approaching the 1700m when STATE OF AFFAIRS shifted out whilst racing keenly.
 
SHAMIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1700m, tightened for room to the inside of KEY COMPONENT and became unbalanced. Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount became awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
KEY COMPONENT – Near the 1700m, steadied from the heels of BOLERO (A. Graham) which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice A. Graham pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1700m, she shifted in when insufficiently clear of KEY COMPONENT (D. Smith) which was checked to avoid the heels of BOLERO. Apprentice Graham’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight Saturday 14th June 2025 and to expire midnight Wednesday 25th June 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered Apprentice Graham’s record in relation to this rule, status of an apprentice, guilty plea, level of carelessness and the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines.

Race 2: CHEVRON EQUIPMENT FINANCE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400M

JUST WALTER – Began awkwardly and then shortly after bumped with CIRCUS MAXIMUS. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
PRAISE YOU – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
GOLD PUMA – Slow to begin.
 
LUNE D'EXCELLENCE – Near the 1000m, whilst racing keenly, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CIRCUS MAXIMUS – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three-wide throughout.
 
HERE'S TO POWER – Raced three-wide without cover until approaching the 600m.
 
ONE DREAM AWAY – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced three-wide for the majority.
 
AKKU – Near the 1000m, whilst racing keenly, was momentarily steadied after being crossed by HELLO LOVELY.
 
Race 3: WEALTH INSURANCE SOLUTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP   1200M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3minutes when BEAST OF BURDEN refused to load. BEAST OF BURDEN was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:22pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BEAST OF BURDEN be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st MAYBE – 10c the win, 14c the place
2nd GOLDEN CROSS – 5c the place
3rd RUM RUNNER – 17c the place
 
Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain 2 further barrier certificates prior to next racing.
 
GOLDEN CROSS – Began awkwardly.  
 
JUNGLE WARRIOR – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey A. Thompson reported the gelding, which was having its first start today, was not suited to the track conditions and held its breath which may have had an effect on its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
LET'S DO IT AGAIN (NZ) – Began awkwardly.  Jockey N. Day reported his mount resented racing in the kickback.
 
BE FRIENDLY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
CHARPANDA – Shifted out at the start and bumped RUM RUNNER. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RUM RUNNER (NZ) – Bumped on jumping
 
VIDEO VIXEN – Bumped by RUM RUNNER shortly after the start, was tightened for room and lost ground.
 
Race 4: CORDNER ADVISORY CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M

BATTLE OF VIENNA – Slow to begin.
 
FOURTH SPARGO – Began awkwardly.  
 
PERFECT MISSION – Slow to begin.
 
ROCKBARTON FASHION – Bounded on jumping.  
 
Race 5: CORPSURE INSURANCE BROKING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1800M

HULKAMANIA – Began awkwardly. Trainer A. Campton advised the gelding would be going for a spell.  
 
ARCHERS REIGN – Change of tactics; to be further forward from the good barrier. Settled at the lead. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
AIRSWING – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SANCTUARY STORM. Near the 1600m, checked from the heels of ARCHERS REIGN (J. Morris) which shifted in when not clear. Jockey J. Morris was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1600m, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of AIRSWING who’s rider had to take hold of his mount and lost its rightful running. Jockey Morris’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 9th June 2025 and to expire midnight 21st June 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered jockey Morris’ record in relation to this rule, level of carelessness and the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines. Raced keenly in the early and middle. Jockey J. Lloyd could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BACKLIT BEAUTY – Jockey S. Rutledge was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out fully to the line. When determining penalty, Stewards were satisfied that her actions did not cost her mount in finishing place.
 
KATERINI – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Stewart reported his mount resented the kickback.
 
SANCTUARY STORM – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 6: KITCHEN CABINET SPECIALIST OPEN HANDICAP         1200M
 
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Apprentice T. Fenlon was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) to fully ride her mounts out to the finish line.
 
RALPHIE – Leaving the 1100m, steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of ZOUPERB, after being taken in by SKYWOLF which shifted in when racing tight to the inside of NED’S GULLY. When considering this incident, Stewards noted that ZOUPERB shifted out marginally when RALPHIE was taken in by SKYWOLF. Near the 900m, taken in by SKYWOLF and was severely checked.
 
SKYWOLF – Began awkwardly.  
 
LIVING FREE – Approaching the 900m, checked when tightened for room to the inside of RALPHIE, which was taken in by SKYWOLF (A. Thompson), which shifted in when not clear. Jockey A. Thompson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a) in that approaching the 900m, he shifted in when insufficiently clear of RALPHIE, which was severely checked and taken in onto LIVING FREE which was checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey A. Thompson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to commence at the end of another suspension being served on midnight 19th June 2025 and to expire midnight 4th July 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered jockey Thompson’s record in relation to this rule, guilty plea, level of carelessness, QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines and the totality of suspension being served. Momentarily held up on the entrance to the home straight.
 
Race 7: CORDNER SUPER ADVISORY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400M

MR FRENCH – Began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied from heels.
 
PASIMA – Bumped on jumping.
 
SHERRIFF CODY – Resaddled on arrival at the barriers.
 
THE CULLINAN – Bumped on jumping.
 
BOWRIDER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped THE CULLINAN. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Jockey D. Turner was reminded of his obligations under AR132(5) for excessive use of the whip.
 
STARZAM – Slow to begin.
 
HALF CROWN – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
MISS SHU (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 8: GCTC MEMBERS & MATES JUNE 21 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M

FIVE RINGS (NZ) – Slow into stride.
 
ZOUTHUR (NZ) – Apprentice C. Vitler pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii)  for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 16 in totality. Apprentice Vitler’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence midnight 14th June 2025 and to expire midnight 20th June 2025. When considering penalty Stewards considered apprentice Vitler’s good record in relation to this rule and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
 
BOOMROUX – Raced wide without cover throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice T. Fenlon advised her mount travelled well in early and middle stages but when placed under pressure, didn’t respond to her riding and for that reason she did not ride the gelding out in her usual manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have abrasions and to be lame in its off-hindleg. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 100m and shifted out.
