SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Lockyer Valley Turf Club (Gatton) – 28 June 2025 – Race 8
Stewards today concluded an inquiry into Jockey Dylan Turner’s riding over the concluding stages on SECURITY ADVISOR. Jockey Turner pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race, which in the opinion of Stewards his actions did cost his mount finishing in 5th place. Jockey Turner was fined $400. When determining penalty, Stewards considered Jockey Turner’s record in relation to this rule, guilty plea, prize money lost for connections and the QRIC penalty guidelines.

GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today's meeting:
Race 6 – UNIQUE ELLE – R. Jamieson + 1kg (55kg)
Race 7 – BARBIE STAR – B. Lerena +0.5kg (56kg)

Race 1: MAI STRATA QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

BENEFITSOFMINE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being delayed arriving on course due to traffic and was cleared to race. Held up from near the 500m until the 400m.
 
SAXOBUSHI – Approaching the 900m, steadied when tightened for room to the inside of SHARPOY (R. Jamieson) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey R. Jamieson was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Wiggins advised the gelding, which became worked up pre-race, was disappointing when asked for an effort in the home straight.

URBAN LAD – Began awkwardly.
 
AUSTRALASIA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LE NOTRE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Apprentice J. Williams was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
MISHANI MOET – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TOI TOI – Began awkwardly.
 
BE AN ANGEL – Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out from the 800m and was unable to be fully tested in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that the filly would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.     
 
 
Race 2: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1200M

ATLANTIC COAST – Tightened for room at the start and was bumped.
 
DRINKWATER – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey S. Cormack advised his mount which was first up after a spell, travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however when challenged rounding the home turn, failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STATEMENT OF TRUTH – Began awkwardly.
 
SUDDEN STRIKE – Shifted in at the start and bumped ATLANTIC COAST.
 
BACETTI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey L. Dempsey advised the filly which was having its first start, raced greenly and didn’t appreciate kickback from today’s track.
 
CHAYSE 'N' BODHI – Momentarily steadied near the 1100m and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey N. Tomizawa advised the filly which was having its first start, didn’t appreciate kickback from today’s track.
 
MINI POWER – Required farrier attention after shifting a plate during transportation. Subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Approaching the 700m, when racing greenly, shifted in and had to be steadied from the heels of WANNABE BRUTAL.
 
MISHANI PEARL – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ODE TO BEAUTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TAHITIAN – Shifted out at the start and bumped ATLANTIC COAST. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice J. Williams advised the filly which was having its first start, didn’t appreciate kickback from today’s track.
 
 
Race 3: HOSPITALITY & STRATA MAIDEN PLATE 1800M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 1 minute when SCUTI proved difficult to load and became fractious once loaded in the barriers. Trainer S. Morrisey was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
CASTERLY ROCK – Crowded for room at the start and was bumped.
 
MISTER SWEET – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SAVEA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 500m, momentarily inconvenienced and obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running. Jockey R. Wiggins dropped his whip near the 50m.
 
GAS BRIGADE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being delayed arriving on course due to traffic and was cleared to race.
 
MOR KOMPASHYN – Taken wider near the 1200m.
 
SCUTI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1200m, whilst racing keenly, improved onto heels, shifted out, taking MOR KOMPASHYN wider. Shortly after was ridden forward and obtained a three-wide position outside the leaders without cover for the remainder.
 
JADATAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
NOT MY PROBLEM – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey S. Cormack advised the filly raced keenly in the early stages and when placed under pressure, was disappointing.

 
Race 4: GRACE LAWYERS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000M

I AM VOODOO – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HIDDEN MELODY – Shifted in at the start. Held up for clear running from approaching the home turn until leaving the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a laceration to its near hindleg, consistent with having been galloped on. Trainer A. Campton was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing or trialling.
 
ARTIE PANTZ – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer C. Anderson was advised pursuant to AR79(4) that the mare would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to trial/gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing.
 
FAST FUSION – Taken in on jumping.
 
EAGLE'S FIRE – Began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by BEACHSIDE BABE and became unbalanced. Over raced in the early stages and near the 800m, improved onto the heels of HIDDEN MELODY and had to be steadied. Jockey N. Tomizawa pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In considering the matter, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that N. Tomizawa’s riding had not cost his mount fourth placing. Jockey Tomizawa was fined $400. When determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Tomizawa’s record in relation to this rule, guilty plea, that he was fighting out a finishing place and the QRIC penalty guidelines.
 
BEACHSIDE BABE – Began awkwardly, severely crowded for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
 
Race 5: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200M

WAHINE GALAXY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced since July 2024, and was cleared to start.
 
ARALETTA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from the left nostril. Trainer M. Hoysted was advised that the mare would be required to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
Following the running of this race, Jockey J. Huxtable advised he was experiencing back pain and was examined by the QAS officials and stood down from his remaining engagements. Jockey Huxtable was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again. Rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
 
 
Race 6: HUM ENERGY CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800M

MENAZZI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide until the 1000m.
 
REGAL EDITION – Began awkwardly.

SPILL THE SECRET – Raced in restricted room from the 1100m until the 1000m to the inside of MENAZZI (J. Lloyd) which was racing tight. Jockey J. Lloyd was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
WANDA'S OUTLAW – Slow to begin. When asked to comment, Jockey G. Cartwright advised the mare may be better suited over a longer journey.
 
BACKLIT BEAUTY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BETTER YET – Raced in restricted room from the 1100m until the 1000m.
 
KOVANOS (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m, steadied when racing in restricted room between SPILL THE SECRET and BACKLIT BEAUTY (K. Zechner) which laid in whilst being ridden along. Jockey K. Zechner was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
UNIQUE ELLE – As Jockey D. McGillivray was overweight, he was replaced by Jockey R. Jamieson. Subsequently, Jockey McGillivray was reprimanded pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. When determining penalty, Stewards considered Jockey McGillivray’s record in relation to this rule and the general circumstances. Began awkwardly and then hampered shortly after the start. Blundered passing the crossing near the 1600m. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

 
Race 7: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1723M

HEAVENLY IMPACT – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and near the 1400m, improved onto heels and shifted out.
 
SAN JOSE BOY – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Franklin advised his instructions were to ride back in the field with cover. He added the gelding raced keenly in the early stages and that he was obliged to bring his mount back in an effort to get his mount to settle. J. Franklin further added that he had to make a long sustained run from the 600m, and that his mount raced flat and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable on the performance.
 
CALL OUT – Passing the 300m, obliged to shift out from the heels of FAMILY OF LEAGUE to obtain clear running.
 
GISELLE ABEEL – Bumped on jumping. Jockey G. Cartwright advised the filly may be better suited to tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HURRICANE ROSIE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GISELLE ABEEL. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
ROAD TO PARADISE – Held up for clear running from the 500m until near the 250m.
 
FAMILY OF LEAGUE – Trainer P. Jenkins was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
JUST WANT YOU BACK – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 300m until the 150m.
 
 
Race 8: GC RACING INDUSTRY AWARDS AUGUST 21 BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2227M

OUR ORATOR – Change of tactics; to be ridden with cover. Raced three-wide without cover for the majority. Taken wide rounding the home turn. When asked to comment, Apprentice T. Orr advised that being caught wide throughout, that this had been detrimental to the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
WATERMELON – Shifted in at the start and bumped SHAPE OF WATER. Rounding the home turn, when attempting to shift out to improve, bumped with TRAPEZE TORQUE on a number of occasions and became unbalanced and was steadied. At subsequent inquiry, jockey D. Peisley was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for the manner in which he attempted to shift out to improve. Stewards will follow up with the stable on the performance.
 
SMELTER (IRE) – Raced keenly approaching the 1700m, shifted out and was allowed to stride forward to obtain the leading position near the 1500m.
 
WHATJEUDOIN' – Crowded for room on jumping. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Taken wide rounding the home turn. Near the 200m was momentarily steadied between SOKUDO and BOLERO which shifted out marginally.
 
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 150m.
 
PURE THOUGHTS – Raced wide until the 1600m. Shifted wide rounding the home turn. Near the 150m, shifted in and bumped HELL FOLLOWS. Jockey A. Allen pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey Allen was fined $500. When determining penalty, Stewards considered his record in relation to this rule, totality of whip used in the race, guilty plea and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
 
SHAPE OF WATER – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
TRAPEZE TORQUE – Rounding the home turn, bumped by WATERMELON (D. Peisley) on a number of occasions when that runner was attempting to shift out to improve.
 
BRIGHT THE SUN – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 400m.
 
BOLERO – Taken wider rounding the home turn when PURE THOUGHTS shifted out after being taken wider by TRAPEZE TORQUE which was in turn taken out by SECURITY ADVISOR.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Shifted out rounding the home turn. Jockey D. Turner reported his mount felt awkward in its stride over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer L. Sharrock was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing or trialling.
 
SOKUDO – Taken wide rounding the home turn.
