SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
Race 1: REVELSTONE STUD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800 M
JAM PACKED – Hampered after the start and lost ground. Near the 700m, steadied from the heels of LA GRACIA (NZ).
STOICISM (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered JAM PACKED.
LA GRACIA (NZ) – Bumped after the start. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Passing the 500m, raced tight to the inside of PHYLISS when attempting to improve between that runner and WEEKEND ARTIST, became unbalanced, then shifted out and bumped PHYLISS. When under pressure in the home straight, raced somewhat ungenerously and shifted ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near foreleg. Trainers representative T. Pollard was advised LA GRACIA (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
EFFIE'S JOY – Laid out rounding the home turn.
PHYLISS – Passing the 500m was bumped by LA GRACIA (NZ). Near the 350m was bumped by LA GRACIA (NZ). Near the 150m, rider T. Brooker momentarily fumbled with her whip before regaining it several strides later when racing tight with LA GRACIA (NZ).
Race 2: RICHARD ATTWOOD 80TH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD & FOUR-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M
VACILLATION – Raced keenly early and near the 1000m, was awkwardly placed to the inside of PROMINENT LAD (R. Stewart), which was shifting in. Rider R. Stewart was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. When under pressure in the home straight, laid in.
BLANTONS RUN – Began awkwardly.
THAT'S INTERESTING – Passing the 150m, steadied and taken to the outside of VACILLATION, which was laying in. Rider L. Tilley reported his intention was to take the box seat behind EVERY HEART in the early stages, but after that mare was crossed by KEIKO SAY and then steadied, he then was obliged to race further back than intended.
KEIKO SAY – Began awkwardly.
WAKU WAKU – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider D. Turner reported after awkwardly leaving the gates, the mare which was only having it’s fourth race start was somewhat green and would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
EVERY HEART – Near the 900m was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KEIKO SAY.
MISHANI MOET – Raced three wide without cover.
Race 3: BOB MARSHALL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M
BOOTS WITH THE FUR – Change of tactics – from the good gate, to be ridden further forward. Slow into stride and settled in a mid to rear position. Passing the 1000m, momentarily awkward to the inside of TIDAL POINT. A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to be lame on the near foreleg on pulling up after the race and was transported to seek further veterinary care. Co-Trainer B. Rodgers was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Acting under the provisions AR 208(3)(b), as Stewards were of the view that rider M. Palmer weighed out correctly on the gelding, which was placed fifth, and it was not practical for him to weigh in, correct weight was declared in his absence.
LOPE BY NIGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.
HELLARIOUS – Approaching the 100m, shifted to the inside of TIDAL POINT into clear running and in doing so, momentarily tightened the running of BOOTS WITH THE FUR before being straightened.
BOOM FLYER – Slow into stride.
TIDAL POINT – Change of tactics – take up a leading position if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and settled in a midfield position. When under pressure leaving the 250m, shifted ground out. Apprentice B. Youngberry was advised she must stop riding and straighten her mounts in similar circumstances.
Race 4: ENRICHING LIVES FOUNDATION BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 M
LIBERTY STEPS – Approaching the 1200m, got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of HULKAMANIA (B. Youngberry), which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice B. Youngberry was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
LOVE RAT – Declared a late withdrawal at 12:54pm after having transport difficulties.
Race 5: DEBBIE SAGE 20 YEARS OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M
RED WAVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
ATMOSPHERE – Rider B. Lerena reported he was able to cross and lead with little effort from the 1000m and travelled nicely through the run. He said when asked for an effort on straightening, the gelding did not respond as expected, ran to the end to the race only moderately and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
FAKE MAGIC – Contacted the rail passing the 1000m when brushed by BADGERS NUTS (NZ), which momentarily laid in.
Race 6: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2400 M
GRIPPING – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
OUR ORATOR – Rider D. Smith reported he was given open instructions from the wide barrier and on leaving the gates, when it was apparent he would not be able to get across to a forward position, he elected to steady and take up a position to the rear of the field. He said the gelding laid out for majority of the event, failed to run on as expected and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Began awkwardly. Rider J. Taylor reported his mount laid in throughout the race.
GOING TO THE SUN – Raced keenly early.
CONTRERAS – Began awkwardly.
Rider J. Taylor(GIDDY GAN’S JOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the 300m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GRIPPING, which was commencing to weaken, tightening that gelding in onto GOING TO THE SUN, being steadied and losing its rightful running. In issuing the charge, Stewards acknowledged the racing manners of GIDDY GAN’S JOY, which was laying in. Rider J. Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 5 days commencing midnight 18/10/2025 up to and including midnight 23/10/2025. When considering penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, exceptional record (last suspension 9/4/2022), the racing manners of GIDDY GAN’S JOY, forthright evidence and the QRIC Careless riding guidelines.
Race 7: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100 M
CUTEPI – Slow to begin.
LA PETITE MAISON – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout without cover.
MISHANI CROWN – Raced keenly early. Apprentice O. Kendal was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
SHAPIN POWER – Raced four wide early.
SCHEHERAZADE – When under pressure from the 200m, shifted considerable ground out.
TOP BIRD – When commencing to weaken passing the 300m, brushed on the hind quarters by SCHEHERAZADE (D. Turner), which had improved to a tight run on the inside, taken out towards THE GAMBLING GREEK, which shifted in slightly, resulting in TOP BIRD being steadied. Rider D. Turner was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) and told to ensure there is sufficient racing room when attempting similar runs.
Race 8: VALE KAYE TINSLEY CLASS 1 PLATE 1800 M
HE'S A SAINT (NZ) – Apprentice C. Bellamy reported the gelding laid in throughout the race and in the home straight, hung in badly and consequently was unable to ride HE’S A SAINT out fully in her normal fashion. Trainer T. Sears was advised a warning would be placed on HE’S A SAINT (NZ) for hanging in during the home straight.
WELLY – Raced three wide without cover from approaching the 600m.
CAVARETTA – Change of tactics – from the good gate, to be ridden further forward. Settled handy.
