Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 7: 8 IRON GRACE – Y. Lewis +0.5kg (56kg)
 
As Jockey T. Brooker was not riding due to illness and Apprentice S. Champkin due to injury, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Riders T. Brooker and S. Champkin were advised they would require a medical certificate of clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
BEACHSIDE BABE (Race 8) was declared a late scratching at 3:40pm due to the track upgrade. Trainer L. McCormick was advised an embargo would now be placed on BEACHSIDE BABE restricting the mare to not race on surfaces rated a Good 3 or better.
 
Race 1: JP FLYING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
 
EVER SO READY – Shifted out abruptly at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
KING'S DIAMOND – Slow into stride.
 
MONARCHAL – Bumped with NOZOMU at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
NOZOMU – Bumped with MONARCHAL at the start. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn, and again when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
AT CHURCH – Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
 
WIN STAR – Raced keen early and near the 900m got its head up when being steadied from the heels of NOZOMU.

Race 2: ALL STRATA PROJECTS MAIDEN PLATE 1800 M

CODE OF SILENCE – Raced keen early with its head up.
 
DIVIL A BIT – Began awkwardly and bumped with ENIDZEL. Came off the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly.
 
ENIDZEL – Bumped with DIVIL A BIT at the start. 
 
OHH ERROL – Change of tactics; more forward. Led.
 
EFFIE'S JOY – Began awkwardly. When questioned, Apprentice C. Baker stated the mare did not begin as expected and when it was apparent her mount would be obliged to race wide without cover, she elected to steady and come back behind the field. She added with the blinkers off today, the mare was not as keen early as has been.
 
TAMIEKA WARRIOR – Trainer J. Smerdon was reprimanded pursuant to LR 30(1)(b) for failing to arrive on-course by the prescribed time. Bounded as the start was effected and lost ground.

Race 3: ASP COMMERCIAL CLASS 4 PLATE          1000 M
 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes to allow the running of an interstate race that was running late.
 
RUSSIAN SUB – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GREYZOUS – Tardy to begin. Raced wide for the majority.

SAPANA'S PEARL – Slow to begin. Apprentice L. Martyn dropped her whip near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its right hind pastern and was treated by the on-course veterinarian. Trainer C. Johnstone was advised SAPANA’S PEARL would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
PERFECT MISSION – Slow to begin.
 
SHELLY'S ACE – After the running of this race, it was noted the mare had lost its off fore plate.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 3 at 2:22pm.
 
Race 4: AMALGAMATED WINDOWS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1800 M

INDY ROSE WARRIOR (NZ) – Rider B. Thornton reported the mare would be better suited to tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CASTERLY ROCK  – Change of tactics; from the good gate and step up in distance, expected to be more forward. Slow to begin. Settled behind the lead. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its right hind leg consistent with being galloped on.
 
TAKUNAI – Raced keen early and middle stages. When questioned, rider A. Allen stated when he had ridden the gelding previously, TAKUNAI raced fiercely and would not settle. He said today he was instructed to have the gelding where comfortable, so he elected not to pressure his mount early, settling further back than expected. 
 
PLEADEEL – Slow to begin.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Raced keenly early and middle stages. 
 
Race 5: AMALGAMATED BUILDING REFURBISHMENT COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 2 HANDICAP          1200 M

WINCHMAN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BELIEVE IN ANGELS (NZ) – Rider B. Thornton reported the gelding would be better suited to tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
INTRUDER – Co-Trainers C. & C. Munce were fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting a horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear (without visors).

INNERVISIONS – Slow to begin.
 
IRON POWER – Shortly after the start, steadied across the heels of INTRUDER when racing tight to the inside of BELIEVE IN ANGELS (NZ).

Race 6: AMALGAMATED PAINTING MAIDEN HANDICAP          1200 M

BAY OF THE SOUTH – Apprentice C. Baker reported the mare, which was having its first race start, laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight and added would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

GYPSY WISH – Reluctant to go to the start. Passing the 1000m when being restrained, became unbalanced in its action for several strides. Trainer N. Luke was advised a warning would be placed on GYPSY WISH for its pre-race behaviour. 

SIX OF WANDS – Approaching the 600m, got its head up and checked after improving into a run where there was insufficient room on the inside of BAY OF THE SOUTH.
 
MR CLAUS – Apprentice B. Youngberry reported the gelding did not stretch out throughout the race and was not comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed gelding to have cardiac arrythmia (first occasion). Trainer J. Downes was advised MR CLAUS would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of the satisfactory results of an electrocardiography (ECG) of more than 60 seconds in duration performed whilst the horse is at rest, and a cardiac auscultation within 15 minutes of the horse completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m prior to resuming in a race, official trial or jumpout.  
 
Race 7: AMALGAMATED WATERPROOFING FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP     1200 M

KILONOVA – Rider B. Lerena dropped his whip near the 50m.

BETA BETTER – Slow to begin.
 
DAVIKAR – Brushed by IRON GRACE at the start and bumped NETWORK ERROR.

IRON GRACE – Brushed DAVIKAR at the start. Rider Y. Lewis was fined $500 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for the use of the on nine (9) occasions prior to the 100m.
 
NETWORK ERROR – Blundered shortly after the start and became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by DAVIKAR, which was brushed by IRON GRACE.
 
PERFECT BETH – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 8: SILKS UNDER THE STARS DECEMBER 19 FREE ENTRY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP     1000 M
 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately three (3) minutes due to DAWYN'S CHOICE undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination after requiring farrier attention to the near hind plate.

BACKSTAGE – Slow to begin.
 
COUNT NICHOLAS – In the middle stages, laid in.
 
DAWYN'S CHOICE – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority.
 
KETTLEBELL – Bumped MINXY at the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DARLING TAKE CARE – Began awkwardly.
 
STORMSTOUT – Began awkwardly, inconvenienced and lost ground.
 
XUANFENG  – Shifted in at the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
MINXY – Blundered at the start and was then bumped by KETTLEBELL. Raced wide for the majority.
