SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

As apprentice F. Sandkuhl was not riding due to injury, she was replaced as per the race day summary.
 
As rider K. Matheson was not riding due to acceptable reasons, he was replaced as per the race day summary. 
 
Stewards accepted the reason for the late withdrawal of GALAVINO, which was a dual acceptor at today’s meeting. 
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 8: D. Peisley +0.5kg (56.5kg)
             D. Turner  +1kg (55kg)
 
GENERAL

RACE 1:ANZAC DAY @ BEAUDESERT ON SALE NOW QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE         1200 M

FINAL EDIT  - Tightened for room shortly after the start. Near the 400m steadied when disappointed for a tight run to the inside of WRITTEN ACLAIM.
 
MISHANI HONOUR - Begn awkwardly, brushed with PIROUTTE GIRL and raced tight for a short distance after, when close to the heels of WRITTEN ACLAIM.
 
VINCLEY – Raced keen in the lead.
 
WRITTEN ACLAIM  - Change of tactics; settle further forward from inside barrier. Settled behind the lead.  
 
WULFHERE - Began awkwardly and shortly after was tightened for room between MISS INFORMED and FINAL EDIT, which was taken out slightly by PIROUTTE GIRL. In the incident, FINAL EDIT was also tightened for room. Near the 300m was steadied and shifted to the inside of MISHANI HONOUR to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, was held up for clear running and went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
 
MISS INFORMED - Raced three wide without cover early.
 
PIROUETTE GIRL – Passing the 400m became momentarily unbalanced and shifted out.


RACE 2: TAB WE'RE ON MAIDEN PLATE       1000 M

DIVINITY STAR – Slow into stride.
 
HUSSON'S TREASURE – Near the 850m, momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of GALAVINO (App. B. Youngberry), which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice B. Youngberry was advised to exercise more care. Laid out from the 500m until the 200m.
 
KICKSTART - Re-saddled behind the barriers. For a short distance passing the 800m laid in.
 
SOLVENT – Near the 800m steadied from the heels of IT’S KAOS.
 
ZAMUNDA QUEEN - Rider B. Lerena could offer no explanation for the performance of the mare, which was having its first race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Ahrens was notified a warning would placed on the mare for its uncompetitive performance.
 
IT'S KAOS – Near the 350m SOLVENT shifted in and slightly brushed ITS KAOS, which was then severely checked to avoid the heels of HUSSON’S TREASURE, which, when laying, shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. In the circumstances, no action was taken against any one rider in the incident.
 
MISS WILDCAT – Began awkwardly.
 

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 4.


RACE 3: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE          1000 M
 
HELLO PUNTERS – Raced keen early and in the middle stages, three-wide without cover.
 
CARDONETTE – Bumped on leaving the gates. Raced wide without cover from the 600m.  Apprentice L. Martyn reported the filly, which was first up from a break, would take benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ZOUBUCA SHOTS - From approaching the 400m until passing the 300m, was held up for a run.
 
TEXAS – Passing the 800m got its head up when being steadied from the heels of ZOUBUCA SHOTS.
 
THE GRAND DUCHY – Approaching and rounding the home turn laid out.


RACE 4: XXXX GOLD OPEN HANDICAP         1200 M

SAILOR'S SECRET - Bumped at start.
 
BADGERS NUTS (NZ) – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
 
BIG BOY GEORGE - Began very awkwardly and bumped SAILOR’S SECRET.
 
DAYTONA – Began awkwardly.


RACE 5: HAPPY 40TH PETE RENTON BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP   1000 M

STATE IN TEXAS   - Began awkwardly.
 
HIDDEN MELODY  - Tightened near the 700m.
 
DARK TSZYU (NZ) - Tightened near the 700m.

FIND YOUR OWN   - Began awkwardly and shortly after the start lost its stride and stumbled. Rider D. Turner could offer no excuse for the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CONCESSION – For a short distance approaching the 700m laid in, causing tightening to its inside to HIDDEN MELODY and DARK TSZYU. Rider L. Dempsey was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) and notified he must make a better effort to keep his mounts straight.


RACE 6: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS CLASS 3 HANDICAP          1400 M
 
OUTAKANDY – Began awkwardly.
 
CORDINA - Slow to begin.
 
MERCHANT LADY  - Change of tactics; settle further forward. After beginning well settled outside the leader. Apprentice A. Graham was reminded of her obligations to ride all her mounts out to the end of the race.
 
FORTY TIMES (NZ) – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
GAMING – Raced wide without cover early.
 
MOET AT MIDNIGHT – On weighing in rider F. Larson was found to be overweight. On questioning, it was established that Trainer T. Cowan had replaced the girth with which F. Larson had weighed out, which weighed several grams heavier. In all the circumstances and considering trainer T. Cowan’s record over a long period of training, a severe reprimand was issued pursuant to AR211(2).
 

RACE 7: GOLD COAST BOWLS & COMMUNITY CLUB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP      1200 M

SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Half reared as the gates opened and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for a run from the 400m until the 200m.
 
NATIONAL INTEREST – Began awkwardly.
 
SIAN STAR - Slow to begin. App C. Collis could offer no excuse for the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BEAUTY BOUND - Began awkwardly.
 
KEIKO SAY  - Raced three wide without cover in the middle stages. When weakening near the 200m, steadied to avoid the heels of NATIONAL INTEREST (D. Turner), which shifted out to improve. Rider D. Turner was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
STATEMENT OF TRUTH - Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider D. Peisley pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 12 in totality. He was fined $500. Further, he was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
ANOTHER CASHIE - Began awkwardly. When questioned, rider B. Thornton explained as the gelding was first up and drawn very wide, he was asked to be conservative from the gate in an effort for the gelding to finish the race off. He said after beginning awkwardly, he shifted in behind the field, settled at the rear, gradually made ground toward the 600m and was obliged to race wide making the home turn. He added when under pressure in the straight ANOTHER CASHIE made solid ground but given the gelding was obliged to race wide from the 600m and resuming from a break, he was satisfied with the performance.
 
FORT WILLIAM – Held up for a run approaching and rounding the home turn.
 

RACE 8: TAB HOLLINDALE STAKES DAY ON SALE NOW CLASS 1 HANDICAP  1400 M
 
BETTER DRAW (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover in the early and middle stages. Apprentice R. Thorburn was fined $200 for failing to ride the gelding out over the final stride of the race. In deciding penalty, account was taken of App R. Thorburn’s recent record under rule AR131(b).
 
SWIFT DUKE – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount was obliged to race wide and this may have been detrimental to its finishing efforts. He added the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. 
 
WHATA SORT – Laid in and contacted the rail near the 1000m. Approaching the 800m got its head up and became unbalanced when being eased from the heels of ELYSIUM, which in turn steadied from the heels of SAVE THE ROSES
 
EXTREME SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover from the 700m.

KIRKALL – In the middle stages raced keenly.

ELYSIUM – Slow to begin and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 800m. Rider D. Turner reported after beginning slow, the filly settled at the rear, which in his view, did not suit its racing style. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. 
 
STEEL IMPACT – Raced three wide with cover in the early and middle stages.

ODIN'S MOUNT – Raced keen early.

TWILIGHT STEPS  - Approaching the 100m, steadied and shifted to the outside of the weakening SWIFT DUKE to obtain clear running.
 
SAVE THE ROSES - Slow to begin. Over the concluding stages, had difficulty obtaining clear running and went to the end of the race not fully tested.
