RACE 1:CRAIG & TONI THE PINNACLE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres
EXOTIC JUNGLE – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover throughout.
JOHNNY THE FOX – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
RAISING SUSPICION – Began awkwardly. Rider J. Bayliss reported the colt raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
AURIC STAR – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until passing the 200m. Cast the off hind plate in running.
STAR OF THE BAR – Trainer D. Forster was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin. Raced very greenly and wide without cover throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight when under riding.
SPINIFEX DJON'S – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide with cover throughout.
RACE 2: SIMMONS BRICKLAYING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1700 Metres
CERTIFY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
TSZYUYA – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. App L. Martyn pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on the mare on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 17 in totality. Apprentice Martyn’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days commencing midnight the 19th of April 2026 and ending at midnight the 28th of April 2026.
MOMENT – Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
HOPETOUN PARK – Slow to begin. Made the crossing at the 1600m awkwardly.
Following the running of this race, rider J. Bayliss became ill, was attended to by QAS and subsequently stood down from his remaining ride in race 7.
RACE 3: AJ CIVIL PROJECTS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 Metres
I SAY I SAY – Began awkwardly. Raced keen early. Improved onto the heels of ST ANDREWS near the 700m and shifted wider.
ZAYYANO (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
CROKER – Rider D. Thornton reported that with visors on for the first time, he was asked to be more positive on the gelding.
JUSTA BARTY – Inconvenienced on jumping.
BASSETT'S CHOICE – When under pressure in the straight, laid out. For a short distance near the 150m, rider B. Thompson lost the use of his off-side rein. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have blood in its mouth consistent with dislodging a tooth cap.
READY TO DRINK – Slow to begin.
VIDEO VIXEN – Near the 500m, bumped on the hindquarters by ST ANDREWS. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 4: TURNERS ENGINEERING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
THE BEAR – Reared and began very awkwardly, unbalancing App O. Webb. Raced keen early and passing the 1000m, steadied from the heels of CHAYSE ‘N’ BODHI (App C. Baker), which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice C. Baker was advised to exercise more care.
VANDEVELDE – Began awkwardly. Contacted on the hindquarters and turned in approaching the winning post.
CHAYSE 'N' BODHI – App C. Baker reported after beginning better than expected and caught wide, she allowed her mount to stride and settle just off the leader near the 900m.
PRESTIGE ICE – When shifting out to find clear running passing the 300m, raced tight with VANDEVELDE (J. Lloyd) for a short distance. Then approaching the 100m, was taken in by VANDEVELDE to race tight with CONTINGENCY, which had commenced to shift out slightly, before being taken out by THE BEAR, which, which shifted out and way from CHAYSE 'N' BODHI, resulting in contact being made with PRESTIGE ICE, which was tightened, became badly unbalanced and eased approaching the winning post. In this incident, VANDEVELDE was contacted on the hindquarters and turned in. Rider J. Lloyd was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding and advised that in similar circumstances he must stop and straighten his mounts.
RACE 5: COASTAL TIPPER HIRE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
YUKANUMA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice L. Martyn was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the finish.
LET'S DO IT AGAIN (NZ) – Apprentice J. Newman was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the finish.
ABOVEFORTY – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
EFFIE'S JOY – Held up for a run from the 500m until passing the 400m.
MOSAMOUR (NZ) – Change of tactics - further forward from the good barrier. Rider B. Thompson reported after beginning well, it was the intention to be in a midfield position, however; when he thought he would be caught three wide without cover, he elected to steady and settle towards the rear of the field. For a short distance passing the 400m, raced close to heels before shifting to the outside of the field near the 200m.
CRYSTAL GARDEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up for a run from the 500m until passing the 400m.
RACE 6: CRICKET GOLD COAST CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
ICED CHOCOLATE – Permission was granted for the mare to race without the nasal strip when it could not be correctly attached.
LORD OF FLAMES – Began awkwardly, bumped with BAKED then stumbled before bumping with QUEIN STEP.
BAKED – Bumped on jumping. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.
CAT CALL – Raced wide without cover early. Rider B. Lerena was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) and reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race, where possible.
QUEIN STEP – Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right foreleg consistent with being galloped on and was treated by the oncourse veterinarian. Trainer’s representative was advised that QUEIN STEP will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
ODE TO BEAUTY – Slow to begin.
RACE 7: MANOS MAIN BEACH CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
BOLLINGER MISS – Slow to begin. Cast the off fore plate in running.
MARAGICAL – Cast the off fore plate in running.
DUOMO – Near the 500m, became momentarily unbalanced. In the early part of the home straight, had difficulty obtaining clear running.
HELLO LOVELY – Reared and lost ground.
LAW MARSHAL – Slow to begin.
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS – Raced wide without cover throughout.
MOONLIGHT KICKS – In the middle stages, laid in.
RACE 8: CARBINE CLUB QLD CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Approaching the 300m, bumped heavily by PRIME ASSET (D. Turner), which shifted out to improve. Rider D. Turner was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
NODACHI – Momentarily steadied approaching the 1000m to avoid the heels of PRIME ASSET (D. Turner), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider D. Turner was advised to exercise more care.
OLD SONG – Held up for a run from the 500m until passing the 400m.
CLUBHOUSE – Raced wide early before being ridden forward from the 900m to take up a leading position.
