Race 1: AWS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1800 Metres
BON RIVIERE – Passing the 1600m, steadied to avoid the heels of FIVE OF US (D. Turner), which shifted in when not clear. Rider D. Turner was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
COMEON KINGWILLIAM – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
IRISH HANDCUFFS – Whilst racing keenly near the 1600m, steadied from heels.
NARUKAMI – When under pressure in the home straight, raced greenly.
SHOW'EM WHO'S KING – Dipped after leaving the crossing near the 1600m. Rider D. Peisley reported the gelding laid in when under pressure in the straight.
FIVE OF US – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Doomben on Wednesday the 24th July. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider D. Turner explained he was not tied down to any specific instructions, however; he was hoping to settle better than midfield. He said after not beginning the best, when he observed inside runners were not being pressured excessively, he elected to ride forward and sit outside the leader.
RACE 2: EZEQUOTE QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
BOLD ENVOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MISHANI ADIOS – Fractious in the barriers. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised a warning would be placed on the colt’s barrier manners.
NATIVE SON – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MARIA CLARA – Raced with its head up early.
NUKATABE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover. Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied from the heels of HIGH AUTHORITY (J. Guthmann-Chester), which shifted out when not clear. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding.
Following the running of this race, apprentice O. Kendal was assessed by QAS after making heavy contact with her right leg in the barriers.
RACE 3: DINDAS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
MORE REVOLUTION – Slow to begin.
HELLUVA ROAD – Slow to begin.
LADY MILAN – Apprentice L. Martyn reported in her view, the filly was afforded all opportunity. A post-race veterinary exam revealed no apparent abnormalities.
THRASH A BULLY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Ipswich on Thursday the 25th July. Slow to begin.
CHANCE DE LUNE – Slow to begin.
DEMES GIRL – Laid out approaching and rounding the turn.
RACE 4: MITEK CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
PALEFACE RINGO – Began awkwardly. Steadied approaching the 900m.
HOT WINGS (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
HI TIAGO – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the right hindleg consistent with being galloped on.
MA'S EPIC – Began awkwardly, then tightened between runners. At the 900m, checked when tightened between HI TIAGO, which was racing tight to the inside of GREY EFFECTS, and PALFACE RINGO, which was being steadied to avoid the heels of HOT WINGS, which was taken out slightly by OVER DRAFT. On the available evidence, no action was taken against any one rider.
RACE 5: HUME DOORS & TIMBER BM70 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
Stewards and trainer A. Campton viewed the Official footage of the straight prior to correct weight, before being satisfied that a protest lodged on behalf of COUNT NICHOLAS would not be successful.
RALPHIE – Near the 800m, got its head up and steadied from heels and shifted wider.
DETRIMENTAL – Raced wide for the majority.
COUNT NICHOLAS – Slow to begin. When attempting to improve into a run between MELDUBIOUS (J. Guthmann-Chester) and DETRIMENTAL approaching the 150m, was steadied & carried out, brushing DETRIMENTAL, when MELDUBIOUS shifted out under pressure before being corrected. Stewards were satisfied that COUNT NICHOLAS has not fully established the run, however; rider J. Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident. Approaching the winning post MELDUBIOUS again shifted out resulting COUNT NICHOLAS to again steady from that runner’s heels. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
MELDUBIOUS – Steadied and carried out, contacting DETRIMENTAL approaching the 150m. Steadied approaching the winning post.
GOLDEN CROSS – Approaching the 700m, laid in.
TIGON PRINCESS – Near the 800m, steadied from the heels of DETRIMENTAL, which shifted in momentarily.
BJORN IRONSIDE – Began awkwardly.
Race 6: LANGS BUILDING SUPPLIES QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD BM65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
Stewards considered the provisions of AR209(3), which in short, relates to horse deemed to have carried its weight from the start of the race until the winning post, and if in the opinion of Stewards, the rider remains in contact with the horse or any part of the horse’s gear from the start of the race to the winning post. After consideration, Stewards were satisfied that rider D. Boche (ADORABLE THOUGHT) remained in contact with the reins of the horse until passing the winning post and therefore was deemed to have carried its weight. Consequently, correct weight was given.
HALFACHANCE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
FIRE BOMBER – Near the 1200m, steadied from the heels of ENFORCEABLE. Raced in restricted room to the inside of ENFORCEABLE passing the 100m until near the winning post and went to the end of the race without being fully tested. Severely hampered and then knuckled badly passing the winning post.
ADORABLE THOUGHT – Over the final 50m, was awkwardly placed on the heels of ENFORCEABLE before clipping that gelding’s heels and falling. An inquiry into the reason the filly fell just before the winning post, was adjourned to a date to be fixed. Rider Boche was transported to hospital for further assessment. Rider D. Boche was advised of the provisions of the QRIC Concussion Protocol and mandatory 12-day stand-down period. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the right hindleg and was treated on-course. Co-trainer E. Vincent was advised that ADORABLE THOUGHT will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
MISHANI WITNESS – Apprentice O. Kendal reported her mount was inclined to lay in over the final 200m.
AVE CANTARE – Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 150m.
WILDSPITZE – Rider F. Larson was contacted on the right leg by the fallen ADORABLE THOUGHT passing the winning post with his mount than shifting out and contacting ELUSIVE DOMINA. Rider Larson was assessed by QAS officials and cleared to continue riding.
I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT – Slow to begin. Checked approaching the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right hindleg and was treated on-course.
Race 7: HYNE TIMBER HANDICAP 1200 Metres
LIVING FREE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
BADGERS NUTS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Near the 700m, became unbalanced and momentarily tightened.
RISE OF THE MASSES – Raced wide early.
MUSCHIALLI – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
Race 8: LANGS BUILDING SUPPLIES BM65 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
POWER PACK – Raced keenly in the middle stages. When asked about her riding tactics, apprentice S. Callow stated she had been asked to ride the gelding conservatively. Trainer K. Kemp will be contacted regarding the matter.
OLD SONG – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
