Race 1: ENGAGE MAIDEN PLATE 850 metres
JOHNNY DEEP – Bumped on jumping.
DESIGNING ARROW – Jockey R Faehr reported that his mount was inclined to hang in throughout.
VICE – Proved slightly difficult to load. Bumped on jumping.
ANGEL ABOVE – Raced awkwardly in its action in the sand kickback in the middle stages
Race 2: XXXX GOLD QTIS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 850 metres
OUTREACH BELLE – Began awkwardly.
BETTER RUSH – Hung in for the majority of the home straight.
KRISPY KEV – Broke through the front of the barriers shortly after being loaded and galloped for a considerable distance. Declared a late scratching at 1:48pm by order of Stewards. Stewards ordered that all bets placed on KRISPY KEV be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:48pm:
21 cents in the dollar for win bets
22 cents in the dollar for place bets
Trainer L Kiernan was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of KRISPY KEV. In determining that a warning was appropriate, Stewards took into account the comments from the starter, rider and the horse’s history.
DAUNTING PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Blundered on jumping.
GLEN ISLA MILER – Slow to begin and slow into stride. Raced wide without cover throughout.
GRACIEDE – Declared a late scratching at 8:57am when there was no available rider.
Race 3: CLEO SIMPSON CLASS B Handicap 1000 metres
ROUND THE FIRE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Resented the sand kickback throughout. Shifted wider on the track near the 600 metres to obtain clear running out of the sand kickback.
THORBEN – Hung out near the 800 metres. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Cast the near hind plate in running.
ETHELDA – Tightened and lost ground shortly after the start when ROUND THE FIRE shifted out. App. T Leslight reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.
Race 4: FIND US ON FACEBOOK BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1194 metres
BRIGALOW BOY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
ANCIENT ECHOS – Inclined to hang in for a short distance in the home straight.
BOFORS – Tightened for racing room for a short distance shortly after the start.
Race 5: MERRY XMAS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1517 metres
SUPER BAZOOKA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the gelding had not raced in over 12 months and was cleared to start. Blundered on jumping and was consequently slow into stride.
STAR OF LEON – Raced wide without cover throughout.
DECK OF ACES – Resaddled behind the barriers prior to the start.
