GENERAL

As jockey M Gray (transport) was unable to attend today’s meeting, rider replacements were made in races 4 & 5 as per the steward’s race day summary.

Apprentice J Busuttin pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) in that she failed to claim her full apprentice allowance in both races 2 and 3. As there were no other apprentices available, stewards granted permission for apprentice Busuttin to only claim 2kg of her 2.5kg permitted allowance in race 2, however was subsequently replaced by apprentice S Robbins in race 3. Apprentice Busuttin was fined $200. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration apprentice Busuttin’s recent poor record in relation to the rule and her personal circumstances.

Prior to the running of race 1, the photo finish operator advised stewards that there was an issue with the operation of the photo finish camera due to a malfunction. This malfunction resulted in both races 1 and 2 not having an appropriate photo finish image, therefore the placings and margins of these races were determined by the judge, and assistance from QRIC stewards, by a video camera situated directly on the finish line. The times for these two races were also handed timed. The camera malfunction was able to be rectified by race 3.
