RACE 2: BECOME A GTC MEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 Handicap (1194 Metres)

LEICA BITA FUN – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance in comparison to its most recent start, trainer Dennis Schultz stated that after its last start in Yeppoon back in April, LEICA BITA FUN had pulled up poorly and was sent for a spell. Trainer Schultz added that since returning back into work, the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event. Trainer Schultz further added that the gelding is well suited to the sand track and distance, now winning 4 of its 9 starts at this track.

PRINCE CARLOS – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, trainer/jockey Cheryl Rogers stated that PRINCE CARLOS resented the kick back and failed to run on as a result of losing momentum.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed the available race replays to determine whether DRAGON’S SNIP had been afforded a fair start. Upon examination of the footage, it was observed that DRAGON’S SNIP became fractious in the barriers, anticipated the start, and lunged forward making contact with the front gates. As the gelding's barrier gate opened in unison with the remainder of the field, and the contact was a result of the horse’s own behaviour, Stewards were satisfied that DRAGON’S SNIP had not been denied a fair start, and accordingly, correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

CINDERELLA MAN – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.

DRAGON’S SNIP – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

HAN DYNASTY – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SUNNYCOAST – Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to scale, jockey Chris McIver reported that SUNNYCOAST was inclined to hang in throughout the event, proving difficult to be fully tested. Jockey McIver also stated that the gelding may not have handled the track conditions as it was having its first race start on a sand racing surface.

BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride near the 400m.

BORNEO – Raced wide throughout.

CLOCKS TICKING – Raced wide throughout.
