GENERAL
 
Stewards conducted random human sampling of riders at today’s meeting.
 
 
RACE 1: SPORTSBET RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP (850m)
 
BORNEO – Shifted inwards on jumping, impeding STELLA BOO shortly afterwards. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HARD LANDING – Was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 12:49pm after trainer Malcolm Bailey advised stewards that due to transport difficulties, he was unable to arrive on course by the prescribed time.
 
FULLY SUBSCRIBED – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards, hampering STELLA BOO shortly afterwards. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure over the final 100m.
 
STELLA BOO – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start when BORNEO shifted inwards and FULLY SUBSCRIBED shifted outwards. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to hang outwards rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the performance of STELLA BOO in today’s event, jockey Chris McIver stated that after being impeded at the start, the mare was able to obtain a forward position without having to endure too much work to do so. However, he explained that STELLA BOO failed to handle the turn, hanging outwards and proving difficult to steer near the 400m. Jockey McIver added that he was somewhat disappointed with the performance overall, noting that when he asked STELLA BOO to quicken in the home straight, the mare failed to respond and went to the line in a disappointing manner. He further added that STELLA BOO may not have handled the quick back-up from her most recent start at Bundaberg on 20th June 2026.
 
IMPACTFULL MISS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOITUMELO – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

 
RACE 2: CAUGHT IN THE ACT PHOTOGRAPHY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1194m)
 
BOOM BELLA – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DUBIOUS SIX – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer Darcy Short was advised that DUBIOUS SIX would be stood down under the provisions of AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and following would be required to trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer Short advised Stewards that the immediate racing future of DUBIOUS SIX would be considered within her stable, indicating that the gelding will be retired.
 
KING OF THE VIBE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BLAME THE BUBBLES – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SPITZBERG – Raced ungenerously throughout the event.
 
ENERGIA – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
RACE 3: HAHN SUPERDRY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1194m)
 
Prior to being loaded, apprentice Shikira Bailey was struck in the face by VIKING SUN and was examined by the on-course QAS officers and was cleared to ride her remaining engagements.
 
MALBEC MAN – Shifted outwards at the start, bumping MISS ELOTAN. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MR DEMOCRAT – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
READY MADE MIRACLE – Bumped with VIKING SUN shortly after the start.
 
VIKING SUN – Began awkwardly and bumped with READY MADE MIRACLE shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed VIKING SUN to have chipped its tooth.
 
MISS ELOTAN – Bumped by MALBEC MAN which shifted outwards at the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

 
RACE 4: CRAIG’S BAKERY OPEN HANDICAP (1194m)
 
SVINDAL – Shifted inwards at the start and impeded HEAT. Raced widethroughout.
 
HEAT – Impeded at the start by SVINDAL which shifted inwards and FROSTY BEAR which shifted outwards. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FROSTY BEAR – Shifted outwards at the start and impeded HEAT. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GRAND DE LAGO – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Natalea Summers stated the fast tempo set in the early stages provide detrimental to GRAND DE LAGO’s chances and that the gelding did not handle the kick back from the sand track conditions.
 
KEEPMEINTHELOPE – Raced keenly throughout.
 
ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Chris McIver advised that ALL BUSINESS (NZ) raced one paced throughout the event and added that in his opinion the gelding is better suited racing over further distances.

 
RACE 5: GLADSTONE CUP 8TH AUGUST RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP (1517m)
 
BOTTOM BAR – Blundered at the start.
 
SIDESHOW FRANKIE – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
AWESOME SPIRIT – Raced wide from a point near the 650m when shifting wider in an attempt to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC VALOUR – Shifted wider near the 450m when attempting to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
