Race 1 – VERN KLEINSCHMIDT CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1800M
EASY TO SMILE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
GAS BURNER – Hung out and raced ungenerously near the 1200m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
STRIKE ZONE – Hung out throughout the event. Steadied from heels passing the winning post on the second occasion. Apprentice D. Evans reported the gelding did not handle today’s turning track and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
HEREAFTER – When questioned, Jockey B. Stewart agreed with Stewards that the horse was disappointing, however could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Hatch subsequently reported to Stewards that HEREAFTER had jarred up following the run and would now be sent for a spell.
Race 2 – BRISBANE BLOODSTOCK BONUS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
WHATEVER MISS – Inspected by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start after being fractious in the mounting yard prior to the event.
SHUTTLE MISS – Slow to begin. Bumped another runner shortly after the start.
DIAMONDINE – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
BRED IN THE RED - Dipped leaving the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. On returning to scale Apprentice R. Williams reported the gelding raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BELLEVUE AVENUE – Trainer E. Hayes reported to Stewards that the filly was shin sore following the event. Mr Hayes was informed that he would need to provide a veterinary clearance for BELLEVUE AVENUE if he wished to race the filly within the next six weeks.
Race 3 – LOUIS DREYFUS COMMODITIES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
SOMERSET DAWN – Bumped another runner at the start.
SO RUBENESQUE – Bumped another runner at the start.
HOLLA LEGS – Steadied from heels approaching the 600m.
REVENUE RAIDER – Steadied from heels approaching the 600m.
Race 4 – RAILWAY HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1000M
The start of this race was delayed when LOVE THE BUSH, which was fractious in the barriers, dislodged its bridle and had to be recaptured. LOVE THE BUSH was declared a late scratching at 1.26pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on LOVE THE BUSH were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

14 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #2
18 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
13 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4
SP bets are not subject to deductions.
Trainer C. Smith was informed LOVE THE BUSH would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
The start of this race was further delayed when THE ROBBER reared over behind the barriers and was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
MORE OF THE ZAIM – Fractious in the mounting yard prior to the event. Trainer S. McEwan was notified a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
INFAMOUS – Slow to begin.
UNO JOKER – Raced wide throughout.
Race 5 – HAYES SPRAYING CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
VALLEY OF SUCCESS – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels leaving the 700m, shifted out and bumped another runner.
CRAFTY’S LAST – Slow to begin. Raced three wide from the middle stages. Trainer B. Tattam could offer no tangible explanation for the improved performance except that the horse had been working well and he was confident of a forward showing in today’s event.
LITTLE MOUNTAIN – Made the crossing awkwardly and raced ungenerously for a short distance after. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. Bumped leaving the 700m. Jockey R. Goltz reported the gelding travelled only fairly and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight.
Race 6 – BLACK TRUCK/CROPLANDS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M
The start of this race was delayed when CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE and IN MY FACE broke through the front of the barriers prior to the start being effected. CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE galloped a short distance before being restrained, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. IN MY FACE galloped a considerable distance before being restrained and was declared a late scratching at 2.36pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on IN MY FACE were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5

CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey B. Appo reported the gelding was having its first start after a spell and in his opinion would benefit from today’s run.
SIR BLAZE – Steadied from heels shortly after the start.
Race 7 – BARRIER REEF POOLS COUNTRY QUEENSLAND SHOWCASE OPEN H’CAP – 1200M
BOMBPROOF – Bumped another runner at the start.
BARON DUORO – Bumped at the start. Jockey B. Stewart was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of .5kg over his allotted weight.
BRADY ‘N’ ME – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m.
GREY COUNTESS – Bumped at the start. Attempted to buck for two strides after the start. Trainer R. Smith will be advised a warning will be placed on the mare. Lost its off hind plate in running.
