Race 1: KING AND CO SOLICITORS CLASS B HANDICAP– 1000m

SNOW ROBIN- Began awkwardly.

BARNTOWN- Began awkwardly and raced wide during the early and middle stages of the event. As the horse was having its first start for the stable, Trainer S McEwan could offer no explanation for its improved performance other than the horse had been working well in preparation for today’s event.

DANGEROUS DANICA- Raced in restricted room and was eased near the 900m when SIR STEPHEN shifted in when not completely clear. GUNNA EXCEL which was following was checked to avoid heels as a result and lost ground. W O’Connell the rider of SIR STEPHEN was issued with a severe reprimand.

Race 2: MACK TRUCKS CLASS 3 PLATE– 1000m

SWEET AND SAVAGE- After standing awkwardly in the barriers, was slow to begin and lost ground. Made the home turn wide and was forced wider on the track by another runner which was hanging out.

BUSH BEAT- Began awkwardly.

COVER UP- Hung out in the home straight and shifted wider on the track.

ESTEVEZ- Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.


Race 3: PAUL LYNCH INSURANCE SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE– 1100m

LEILA’S CALL- Began awkwardly. Tightened for room near the 900m.

MARLAHN- Raced wide throughout.

MONTE AGAR- Raced wide throughout.

Apprentice M Schrapel pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 800m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LEILA’S CALL which was taken in onto MANSCAPE which was tightened for room, checked and blundered. Apprentice Schrapel’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period commencing midnight 19 September 2015 and to conclude at midnight 30 September 2015.

Race 4: GOURMET TOMORROW CLASS 1 H’cap – 1200m

Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey A. Taylor the rider of the 4th placed QUELLE BEAUTE to view the patrol films to determine if there were grounds for protest against the 2nd placed CEBILE for interference over the concluding stages. After viewing the films Jockey Taylor elected not to proceed with a protest.

QUELLE BEAUTE- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the finish line was steadied to avoid the heels of CEBILE which shifted out. Apprentice S Palmer the rider of CEBILE was advised to exercise more care.

PRINCE OF PEACE-Raced wide throughout.

REAL TRICKY- Tightened for room at the start.

TWIST AND SHOUT- Tightened for room at the start.

JAI’S LUCK- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.


Race 5: XXXX GOLD GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN H’cap – 1400m

SHAKES- Slow to begin.

STORM MAGIC- Raced wide throughout.

CHAMPAGNE TALES- Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: MORGANS BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400m

MR DODO- Slow to begin.

STEEL TO THE HEEL- Raced wide throughout.

Apprentice S Palmer, in the presence of his master Mr M Currie, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1100m he permitted his mount I’M NO RUBY to shift in when insufficiently clear of NEVER IGNORE which was tightened for room and checked. Apprentice Palmer’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period commencing midnight 12 September 2015 and to expire at midnight 26 September 2015. Furthermore Stewards acting under AR 92A(2) ordered that prior to being permitted to race ride again, Apprentice Palmer must attend a Racing Queensland riding skills panel for remedial training in light of his poor record in relation to careless riding offences.
