GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following weight variances for this meeting-
 
Race 2- Jky J Worley- +.5kg
 
Due to Appr Jky S Blunt and Jockey B Appo not riding at todays meeting rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1:INTERLINK/SEAWAY QTIS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200m

AS GOOD AS READY– Slow away, wide no cover.
 
MISHANI PHAROAH- Raced wide with no cover.
 
RURAL REBEL- Proved difficult to load, Stewards acting under AR75(1)(b) advised Trainer A Park that a Warning would be placed on the horse. Began awkwardly jumped in at the start & hung in for the majority.
 
TRAPPER TOM- Failed to go early speed, raced towards the tail of the field for the majority. Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the Gelding a Veterinary examination was undertaken this examination revealed no abnormalities
 
Race 2:WAGNERS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
 
POP’N’PICKLES - Slow away.
 
FULL DOSAGE- L/Scr at 12.52pm Stewards acting under AR75(2)(b) on Vet advice due to sustaining an injury to its right hind leg being injured in transit. Trainer D Schreck was advised that a Veterinary Certificate was required prior to its next start. No deductions applied as betting had not commenced on the race.
 
MISS FASSIFERN- L/Scr at 1.05pm Stewards acting under AR75(2)(b) on Vet advice due to the horse sustaining a laceration to the coronary band on the right hind leg transit. Trainer C Geran stable representative was advised that a Veterinary Certificate was required prior to its next start. No deductions applied as betting had not commenced on the race.
 
ZARAGIGI – Fractious in the barriers then jumped awkwardly. A Veterinary examination was performed due to the seemingly disappointing performance. This examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MAGNASPHERE- Began awkwardly. A Veterinary examination was performed due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse, this examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 3: GRAINCORP CLASS B Handicap 1000M
 
SAVVY SONG- At approximately the 800m point the Gelding made heavy contact with the inside rail and the rider having to check her mount and lost ground.
 
MR WHITTINGTON- Was declared a late scratching at 3.03pm due to it failing to proceed to the barriers. On returning to the Scales area Jockey D Baker advised Stewards that the horse has blood in its mouth. A post-race veterinary examination was performed, and this examination did reveal the presence of blood in its mouth with no obvious sign of laceration on the tongue and no other abnormalities being detected. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GIDGET prior to 3.03pm be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers.
 
0c in the dollar for the winner 4c in the dollar for the place bets on the winner, 4c in the dollar for 2nd place horse and 3c in the dollar for 3rd place.    
 
GIDGET- Approaching the 800m point when electing to take a more forward position gained a position outside of QUEEN OF THE SOUTH in a three wide position. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH appeared to shy away from the Filly and began to roll inward resulting in SAVVY SONG making contact with the rail and its rider having to check.
 
SMART AND SASSY- Jumped awkwardly.
 
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH – Jumped awkwardly. At approx. 800m, began to shy away as a result of GIDGET racing to its outside the Mare then began to roll inward tightening SAVVY SONG, which made heavy contact with inside rail.
 
 
Race 4: QUBE PORTS CLASS B Handicap 1400M
 
MANDALONG NERO- Stewards questioned Trainer Mr W Munro regarding the seemingly improved performance of the Gelding today. Mr Munro advised that the horse has been working well it had stripped fitter since the last run. He added that the gear change of the Blinkers on appears to have improved the horse made him more focused. The stable was confident of a forward showing today and was supported by the stable. Stewards noted Mr Munro’s comments.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD- Slow away.
 
CORSUCAN- Slow away.
 
SISTINE AVENUE -A post-race Veterinary examination was performed due to a seemingly poor performance. This examination revealed mild lameness to the near foreleg. Trainer S Barker was advised a Vet Certificate will be required prior to its next start.
 
CELESTIAL LASS – Fractious in the barriers. Jumped awkwardly. Vet checked, no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5:PORT OF BRISBANE CUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400M
 
SUMPREME HARMONY- Acting on advice from the Trainer Ms D Schreck Stewards acting under LR69 allowed the late scratching of the horse due to the racing surface presented today being very hard and she advised the horse would not be competitive and may jar up due to the racing surface. Stewards subsequently placed an embargo on the horse whereby, SUPREME HARMONY would not be permitted to accept in races where the track rating was in the firm range. No deductions applied as the late scratching occurred prior to betting commencing on the race.
 
Stewards acting under AR202 (1)(a) on advice received from Starter Mr I Henderson that due to a barrier malfunction as the barriers opened several runners were not afforded a fair start. Despite an air horn being used to notify the riders in a timely manner that a false start had occurred many of the riders did not hear the air horn. Stewards subsequently inquired into the matter, declaring that a false start had occurred and the Race a “No Race” and ordered that all monies invested on the race were refunded in full.
