GENERAL
 
 
Riders raised concerns about sections of the track after the running of Race 2 between the 800m and the 500m point. Stewards inspected the area of concern with senior riders who agreed that the track was safe and the meeting would proceed after the Club performed work/s in the area and again between races.  Start times were amended after Jockey B Richardson raised further concerns after the running of Race 3 of the section of Track at the crossing adjacent to the 1200m point. The area was a gradual incline and then a drop off which may hamper horses which mat shy at the area specified. Stewards inspected the area of the track with several senior riders who agreed the area was safe and the program would continue. Stewards advised all riders to exercise care at the areas of the track specified.
 
 
Race 1: REMEMBERING DON SCHWENKE CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M
 
 
FLASH ZARIZ-Began awkwardly and was bumped by A PRETTY PENNY at the start. Tended to lay out from the 200m for some distance before being corrected by the rider.
 
A PRETTY PENNY- Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner at the start then bumped SPIRIT OF LUCK shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPIRIT OF LUCK- Began awkwardly and was bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
 
SQUADOM- Appr Jky J Golden when returning to scale advised stewards that his saddle had slipped when entering the home turn which resulted him being able to test his mount out fully over the final 200m. Stewards noted his comments.
 
HOLY CHARIOT- Hung out during the early stages of the event.
 
CALIFORNIA SPELL- Began awkwardly with its head in the air and was slow into stride then ran at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Began to improve into the race from the 300m point and ran home strongly.
 
 
Race 2: FLINTON RACES  APRIL 8 QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

BELPHEGOR- Trainer B Ahrens advised stewards that he did not have the approved gear for his horse that being a bubble cheeker. Stewards noted his comments. Under the provision of AR 106(1) Stewards fined Mr. Ahrens the sum of $100 for his fail to present the horse with correct gear.
 
CRAIGLEA HENRY- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Trainer K Johnston advised Stewards that she had failed to lodge a request for a gear change to winkers today. Stewards granted her request to race in blinkers and under the provision of AR206(1) Stewards fined Ms Johnston the sum of $100.
 
SUPER CYRIL- Began awkwardly jumping inward after making contact with the barrier petition at the start and then bumped another runner shortly after the start losing ground.
 
CONTESSA NILE- Trainer R Milne reported that the mare had an abrasion to its left hind leg. A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken and confirmed the superficial abrasion on the mare’s left hind leg above the cannon bone and subsequently passed fit to race at today’s meeting. No Vet certificate was required.
 
FULL DOSAGE- Began awkwardly jumping out and bumped another runner at the start.
 
 
TRUST IN GALE- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
 
SPUR ME- Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier petition on jumping losing ground.
 
REDVEDEV- Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start. Then veered outward when crossing in front of TRUST IN GALE whose rider had to momentarily check before being corrected by the rider.
 
 
Race 3: PICNICS APRIL 15 BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M
 
 
FITZROY BOY- Began awkwardly jumping out at the start and bumping BEEOKAY.
 
CAMARILLO- Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier petition and then was bumped shortly after the start by THE LAST DRAGON and lost ground.
 
MANTINELLO- Began awkwardly and bumped TOP PASS shortly after the start.
 
DISTANT SECRET- Began awkwardly then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event began to improve into the race at approximately the 400m. On returning to scale Appr Jky S Willis reported to Stewards that she had dropped her whip at the 200m point and was unable to test her mount out fully over the final stages of the event.
 
THE LAST DRAGON- Began awkwardly bumping the runner to its outside then raced keenly during the early stages when being restrained.
 
MISS MOSCATO- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CRAIGLEA ETNA- Slow to begin. Raced extremely wide after entering the home straight for the final stages of the event.
 
SUPER ROCKER- Dipped at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TOP PASS- Began awkwardly and bumped by MANTINELLO shortly after the start.
 
BEEOKAY- N VUILLE- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
 
BRADDOCK DOWN- Slow to begin.  Raced wide with no cover during the early stages of the event then began to lose ground from the 400m and raced at the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. Stewards permitted Jky G Walters to ride the gelding+1.5kg due to no other rider being available. Acting under the provision of AR227(a) Trainer N Shields was reprimanded by Stewards for her failure to comply with a Direction (Overweight Policy).
 
 
Race 4: GOONDIWINDI CUP APRIL 29 CLASS B HANDICAP 1400M
 
 
SPANKY BANDIT- Slow to begin.
 
BLACK SUSPECT- Stewards ordered that a pre-race Veterinary examination be undertaken and passed fit to start. Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly veering outward at the start and despite the best efforts of the rider to improve into the race, it failed to respond and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination was performed and found to have moderate swelling of the left foreleg (fetlock). Trainer B Gorman was advised that a Veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Acting under the provision of LR67(1) Stewards fined Trainer B Gorman the sum of $200 for his failure to notify a rider (2) by the prescribed time.
 
BORDEAUX HOPPER- Due to Jky H Richardson being dually booked on the fourth emergency and subsequently getting a start she was replaced by Jky S Sweedman.
 
MONGOLIAN FLAME- Began awkwardly.
 
SARAPHINA- Due to Jky G Walters being unable to make the probable weight, he was subsequently replaced with Jky S McGovern. Slow to begin.
 
STELLAR- Slow into stride.
 
 
Race 5: GUNSYND WEEKEND APRIL 28 & 29 BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M
 
OFFICE JIM- Began awkwardly.
 
REALAIDE- Began awkwardly and then was tightened for room after the start and lost ground. Tended to lay out during the early stages of the event.
 
VAN GOGH- Began awkwardly making heavy contact with a barrier petition. Then inconvenienced the runners to the inside.
 
SILENT FLYER- Began awkwardly jumping out and inconveniencing the runners to the immediate outside.
 
CHARGED- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SEBSILK- Began awkwardly and was tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT- Dipped at the 1200m crossing.
