MY TURN ASTERN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SPRUCE – When questioned on the seemingly poor performance, apprentice J Metcalfe stated the mare travelled well early however when asked for an effort at the 400m failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
CAVALHEIRO – Shifted in on jumping bumping heavily with BIRAGUE.
SENSE OF HUMOUR – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer P Rice advised that, in his opinion, the gelding has had bad luck in its previous runs and was given every opportunity to show its ability in today’s run. Stewards noted the explanation.
BIRAGUE – Inconvenienced on jumping when crowded between runners. Raced ungenerously approaching the 1000m and shifted wider to avoid heels. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 4: LOWES PETROLEUM / MCGREGOR GOURLAY / JOE BULMER HAULAGE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
GOOGAZ – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
HIGH SECURITY – Stewards inquired into the reasons HIGH SECURITY was checked and lost ground near the 800m. After reviewing the replays and taking evidence from the riders involved, it was ascertained that GOOGAZ racing keenly shifted out slightly, in turn caused PACIFIC PIRATE running to the outside of GOOGAZ to shift wider, in turn forcing ARTIES DYNAMITE wider and into the running of HIGH SECURITY, simultaneously JIDAYUBORI running to the outside of HIGH SECURITY marginally laid in. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference suffered to HIGH SECURITY could be attributed to any one rider, therefore took no further action.
BOOM BY BY – Slow into stride.
TORTILLA – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels entering the home straight having to be eased.
PACIFIC PIRATE – Forced wider from the 800m when GOOGAZ shifted out.
