GENERAL
Under Stewards direction Appr Jockey Ms C Francis will not be riding at today’s. All rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary.
Race 1: GOONDIWINDI HYDRAULICS QTIS MAINDEN PLATE 1000M
TELEKI- Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with OVERDOIT after the start was affected. Weakened over the final 400m. Post Race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
FOR THE BRAVE- Over raced during the early stages bumped with RUSSION RIPPER at the 950m point. Raced wide for the majority while racing wide.
GOT YOUR MEASURE- Dipped at the start, rider J Baker reported the horse felt off in it’s action. A post race veterinary examination was undertaken and revealed no abnormalities.
HOWLER- A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken with the mare being fit to run at today’s meeting. Slow to begin, then bumped with OVERDOIT which in turn was bumped at the start by TELEKI. Raced wide for the majority.
OVERDOIT- Bumped heavily at the start by TELEKI then bumped with HOWLER shortly afterwards. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
ZOUPHISTICATE- Jumped in the air at the start.
RUSSIAN RIPPER- Raced erratically during the early stages, bumped with FOR THE BRAVE approaching the 950m point.
Race 2: GOONDIWINDI FOODWORKS RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1000M
COSTA CATORI- Trainer Ms D Corbett advised Stewards the rider of her horse would not be using the whip throughout the race. Stewards noted her comments and advised the Race caller to notify patrons accordingly. The gelding raced wide for the majority of the event. After entering the home turn shifted in momentarily resulting in MARVIA MISS being dictated out when racing wide. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
RED VODKA- Raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the event from the 400m, ran on well over the final stages while racing wide.
MARVIA MISS- Raced towards the rear of the field while travelling wide for the majority of the event. Dictated outward in the home turn when COSTA CATORI shifted in momentarily.
BUN IN THE OVEN- Raced wide for the majority.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing the rider of the 4th placed horse Jky Ms R Payne to view the photo image. After viewing the photo, Ms Payne was satisfied with the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight.
Race 3: BLACK TRUCK & AG BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M
WOLFGANG- Bumped heavily as the start was affected losing ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
KAT CHINNA- Raced wide throughout.
MAGIC IN ME- Bumped with HELIKEDEMPRETTY shortly after the start.
HELIKEDEMPRETTY- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start was affected. Raced wide throughout.
RAN NA LADY- Began awkwardly.
XERRI- Was inconvenienced when approaching the 950m point when FITZROY BOY’s rider Jky P Hamblin permitted his mount to shift out in an effort to obtain a more forward position. Laid in, in the home straight.
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON- A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken with the gelding being passed fit to run at this meeting.
AS EXPECTED- Began awkwardly making heavy contact with the barrier partition and then shortly afterwards made heavy contact with WOLFGANG which became unbalanced and lost momentum. Due to Jky Taylor’s injury to his left foot he was unable to ride the horse initially with his usual vigor. Stewards advised QAS to attend to Jky C Taylor who was provided with strapping and basic treatment. Jky Taylor was passed fit to continue riding for the remainder of the program.
FITZROY BOY- Approaching the 950m point shifted out in an effort to obtain a more forward position inconveniencing XERRI. Stewards reminded Jky Hamblin of his obligation to ensure that he allows sufficient room when shifting ground.
Race 4:VERN KLEINSCHMIDT COMMUNITY TRUST GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
TARA JASMINE- Slow to begin, raced at the rear of the field before improving into the race from the 400m point. Ran on strongly over final stages.
SELLING SUNSET- Slow to begin. Raced towards the rear of the field before improving into the race from the 400m point.
SPOOKY SPIRIT- Raced at the rear of the field while racing wide for the majority.
HARLEQUINN FIELD- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
A delay in the declaration of correct weight to allow the rider of PANTELONE Jky P Hamblin to view the photo finish image. After viewing the photo Jky Hamblin was satisfied with the placings as semaphored by the Judges. Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the Judges.
Race 5:HAYES SPRAYING/ WEED IT BATTLERS CUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1800M
FORTY TIMES- Over raced during the early stages then adopted a three wide position for the majority of the event racing just behind the leaders. Approaching the 600m failed to improve despite Jky H Richardson best efforts to do so. Began to weaken out of the event from the 200m. Stewards spoke with Jky H Richardson who advised the horse felt good in running. She advised he was disappointing and expected him to run well at today’s meeting. She thought he may not have been suited by the tight turns at the Goondiwindi track and that he was under pressure from the 600m point. Ms Richardson felt the wide barrier and the big weight may not have been an issue as he is a big horse and he can handle weight. Stewards noted Ms Richardson’s comments. Stewards will contact Trainer Mr N Beck in coming days for a comment regarding the horse’s run and how it pulled up.
VANCITY- Raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the race from the 400m point and ran on well over the final stages of the event.
GODRA- Began awkwardly and then bumped with JADATAN shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
BUDDY’S TALE- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
JADATAN- Bumped at the start with another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
A delay in correct weight occurred to allow the rider of JADATAN Jky W O’Connell to view the photo finish image. After viewing the photo Jky W O’Connell accepted the decision by the Judges and Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges.
