GENERAL
 
Race 4- After hearing a submission from Trainer G Doig, Stewards permitted Jky C Taylor to replace Appr Jky S Robbins on SAY WHEN SUTTY due to Ms Robbins being required to ride in Race 1 at Toowoomba. Trainer Ms R Warzecha advised Stewards that her horses; Race 1- SHACKAMAXON, Race 3- ANAISA, Race 4- CATORI will be ridden more positively than the previous starts in an effort to obtain a handy position in running. Stewards noted Ms WARZECHA’s comments. Due to the incident with EQUAL POWER in Race 3 the following start times were amended- Race 4- 3.30pm, Race 5- 4.07pm and Race 6- 4.47pm.
 
Race 1: THANKS GREG & ALL THE BEST CLASS 1 AND MAIDEN PLATE 1400M
 
DEL TITO- Laid in when entering the home turn before being corrected by the rider.
 
HVARDANCE- Slow to begin.
 
RARE MOON- Began awkwardly.
 
SPIRIT OF SAINTLY- Slow to begin.
 
HOT CONQUEST- Laid in while racing in the home straight.
 
Race 2: INTERLINK/ SEAWAY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400M
 
MOORABINDA MICK- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event before improving into the race from the 300m point and then ran on strongly to the line.
 
UNLEASH-Tended to lay out during the early stages.
 
BASIL’S BOW- Pre- race vet examination was undertaken due to the horse making heavy contact with the gate when leaving the mounting yard. This examination failed to detect any abnormalities.
 
ARAMINTA- Slow to begin, then raced towards the rear of the field. Began to improve into the race from the 800m point. Held up for a run shortly after entering the home straight.
 
HOOTFOOT PERFORMER- Raced wide for some distance. Laid in while racing in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider.
 
CRAIGLEA LA VIE- Slow to begin.
 
BUGDEN- Slow to begin, tended to over race during the early stages. Began to lose ground from the 600m point before settling in a mid-field position. Failed to improve despite the best efforts of the rider. Laid in while racing wide in the home straight, ran on fairly over the final stages.
 
Race 3: GRAINCORP RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
SAVVY SONG- Bumped with SAY WHEN SUTTY in the home straight.
 
SENSE OF HUMOUR- Bumped with ANAISA shortly after the start.
 
EQUAL POWER- Shortly after entering the home straight, appeared to blunder in its action and then again when leaving the 200m point blundered badly and fell dislodging the rider. As a result of catastrophic injury to the offside front carpus and after consultation with the Trainer Mr B Waldron and the owners the horse the mare was euthanised on humane grounds. As a result of the fall, Appr Jky K Barker was examined by QAS and was able to transport herself to the Goondiwindi Hospital for further examination and treatment.
 
LATE NIGHT TALKING- Over raced during the early stages. Was forced to redirect around EQUAL POWER leaving the 200m as a result of that horse going amiss. Ran on well over the final stages of the event.
 
SPRING BIRD- As Jky D Evans did not ride at today’s meeting and was replaced by Jky P Hamblin.
 
I’M A CHOCOHOLIC- Began awkwardly.
 
TOSMIAN- Proved difficult to load and as a result Trainer Mr B Waldron was advised a Warning would be placed on the mare.
 
ANAISA- Bumped with SENSE OF HUMOUR shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer Ms R Warzecha advised Stewards that her horse had lost a near fore plate in running and had a superficial cut to it’s near foreleg.
 
CANCELLED- Raced wide for the majority.
 
SWEET ABOUT ME- Slow to begin, and then raced at the rear of the field.
 
SAY WHEN SUTTY- Jky C Taylor replaced Appr Jky S Robbins due to Ms Robbins having to ride in race 1 at Toowoomba. Raced wide for the majority. Bumped with CATORI LASS leaving the 200m. Tended to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with SAVVY SONG leaving the 200m point.
 
Race 4: WAGNERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE  1100M
 
Due to issues in the previous race amended start time of Race 4 to 3.30pm.
 
ATHOL MAC- Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier gates as the start was affected. Leaving the 200m tended to lay in for some distance before being corrected by the rider. Bumped with CATORI LASS in the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA OREO-Tended to lay in while racing in the home straight.
 
SET FOR LIFE- Slow to begin and blundered after travelling approximately 30metres and then raced at the rear of the field for some distance. On entering the home straight shifted in when attempting to improve and as a result inconvenienced RANCY HILTON and ASTERN POWERS with their riders having to redirect their mounts in and out respectively. Stewards inquired into the incident after taking evidence from all parties and observing the surveillance footage available to them, it was apparent that Appr Jky Tierney the rider of SET FOR LIFE had lost her irons shortly after the start. As a result, Stewards reasonably believed that this issue prevented the rider from fully testing her mount out and or having control of the gelding in running. Appr Jky Ms S Tierney was reminded of her obligation under AR114(b)(1) to report any such matters to Stewards as soon as practical when returning to scales. Stewards took no further action regarding the incident.
 
CATORI LASS- Raced wide for the majority. Bumped with another runner leaving the 200m point.
 
FANCY HILTON- Was inconvenienced just after entering the home turn and was forced to redirect his mount to avoid SET FOR LIFE which shifted in. Then began to weaken from the 200m point over the final stages of the event.
 
MOONTIME-Declared a late scratching by Stewards acting on Veterinary advise after the horse reared and became cast in the barriers. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MOONTIME be refunded in full, less the following deductions- 12- KACHINA GIRL- W-   23c, Pl-18c, 4- OKANUI- 2nd Pl-18c and 1- ATHOL MAC- 3rd Pl-18c. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge/s. Stewards later notified Trainer Mr J Gleeson and advised the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next start.
 
RUPEEZY Laid in while running in the home straight.
 
ASTERN POWERS- Wasforced to ease off heels approaching the 500m point. inconvenienced shortly after entering the home turn by another runner which shifted in and as a result Jky A Spinks had to redirect his mount out, losing some ground.
 
Race 5: THE QUBE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200M
 
KING NEPTUNE- Over raced early stages, raced up on heels at approximately the 100m point, raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
SUISSE SCANDAL- Bumped with MOONSTRIKER soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LITTLE SHOW-Jumped in the air as the start was affected.
 
JEROME- Stewards permitted Jky J Wodhouse to replace Appr Jky K Barker due to no other rider being available.
 
TAKARA STAR- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GLITTERSCRIPT- Began awkwardly.
 
DUCHESS OF ARGYLL- Bumped with DUBBLE HUSSLE shortly after the start.
 
DUBBLE HUSSLE- Bumped with DUCHESS OF ARGYLL shortly after the start.
 
MOONSTRIKER- Slow to begin, then bumped with SUISSE SCANDAL shortly after the start. Then raced at the rear of the field for the majority, veered in abruptly and raced erratically for a short distance. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75(1) advised Trainer Ms C Johnston that a Warning would be placed on the horse for its racing manners.
 
Race 6: PORT OF BRISBANE CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M
 
HOLIDAY DREAMS- Bumped with THIEF BY NIGHT after the start was affected.
 
ELECTED- Bumped with BEAN DANCING and a short time later with SHUT EYE after the start was affected.
 
BEAN DANCING- Slow to begin. Bumped with ELECTED shortly after the start.
 
HELIKEDEMPRETTY- Began awkwardly.
 
SHUT EYE- Bumped with ELECTED after the start.
 
SON OF SAMPSON- Stewards permitted Jky A Spinks replaced Appr Jky K Barker as no other suitable apprentice rider was available. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
HUSS ON FIRST- Began awkwardly with the horse’s head in the air at the start. Raced wide with cover for the majority. Laid in while racing in the home straight.
 
THIEF BY NIGHT- Began awkwardly and then bumped with HOLIDAY DREAMS after the start.
 
ARIAT-Raced wide with cover for some distance. Tended to lay in while running in the home straight.
