RACE 1: FOODWORKS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
 
BLUEY’S CHOICE- Began awkwardly when the gelding made contact with the barrier gates on jumping, bumped with HURRICANE HANK shortly after the start. Raced keenly during the early stages  while being restrained.
 
HURRICANE HANK- Slow to begin, then bumped by BLUEY’S CHOICE after the start becoming unbalanced losing ground. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. On returning to scale Apprentice Jockey Ms C Krahnen reported that the allocated barrier gates had failed to open. The declaration of weight was delayed to allow Stewards to hear a submission from Trainer Ms N Hemmings that her horse be declared a non-runner due to being denied a fair start. After viewing the official race footage and considering the evidence available to them, Stewards acting under the provision of AR204 (1) declared that HURRICANE HANK was denied a fair start, in that the barrier gates failed to open with the remainder of the field and as a result declared it a non-runner. Stewards then made an order that all monies invested on HURRICANE HANK be refunded in full, less the following deductions to apply:
 
1st place - SAVAGE JUSTICE- W- 7c and Pl- 8c,
2nd place- MISHPAT- pl- 8c and
3rd pl- PRESSURE SWITCH- pl- 8c.
Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges.
 
PRESSURE SWITCH- Laid in while racing in the home straight.
 
LETTIE’S LOT- Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier gates on jumping. Dipped shortly after the start.
 
MADAM SO LATAIRE- Laid in while racing in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
ZOU ZOU ZIPORA- Brushed with the barrier gates on jumping, then raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in while racing wide in the home straight.
 
REEVACITY- Lost some ground leaving the 600m point and raced towards the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. Held up for a run shortly after entering the home straight.
 
JACK THE BOSS- Failed to go at the early speed and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.  Apprentice Jockey R O’Connell advised stewards that his mount had failed to improve into the race despite his best efforts. On returning to the mounting yard, it was reported by the attending veterinarian that the horse was coughing up sputum with traces of blood. A post- race veterinary examination was undertaken with the gelding having mild haemoptysis. Trainer R Warzecha was advised that her horse would be required to undergo an endoscopic examination inclusive of a vet clearance with the report being forwarded to Stewards prior to returning to racing. Ms. Warzecha advised Stewards the JACK THE BOSS would be leaving her stables in coming days.
 
RACE 2: NEWLANDS GROUP DELIVERED PARK RIDGE RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
LAUNCH SEQUENCE- Put in an awkward stride shortly after beginning and then raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BORDEAUX HOPPER- Began awkwardly jumping out as the start was affected.
 
MASTER MIYAGI- Raced wide for the majority. Prior to the home turn while racing outside of OAKFIELD MONTANA was bumped by that horse when the rider elected to shift out to improve prior to the home turn.
 
BEACHSIDE BABE- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.
 
OAKFIELD MONTANA- Bumped with BEACHSIDE BABE after the start and during the early stages the rider (B Baker) had difficulty in restraining her mount when it was awkwardly placed on the heels of BEACHSIDE BABE. Prior to the home turn bumped with MASTER MIYAGI when shifting in to improve.
 
HOREB- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
RACE 3: GOONDIWINDI HYDRAULICS 0- 50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
ATHOL MAC- Began awkwardly when jumping out bumping with ROTHERO ESSGEE at the start. Laid in while racing wide when placed under pressure in the home straight from the 200m point.
 
SPANISH RAGE- Leaving the 600m shifted out to improve.
 
BABALOLA- Became fractious prior to the start, began awkwardly and bumped with ROTHERO ESSGEE and continued to bump for a stride or two after the start was affected.
 
SAVVY’S SONG- Began to weaken noticeably from the 200m. Due to the seemingly disappointing performance a post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Trainer Ms. G Doig reported that the gelding had been off its feed leading up to the run today, and that she would notify stewards should the horse’s condition deteriorate in coming days. Stewards noted her comments.
 
BLUE EYE DAME- Bumped with EXCLUSIVE DROP shortly after the start.
 
KOGA NINJA- Laid in while racing wide in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
ROTHERO ESSEGEE- Bumped shortly after the start by ATHOL MAC and then by BABALOLA becoming unbalanced, continued to bump for a stride or two after. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
EXCLUSIVE DROP- Bumped with BLUE EYE DAME after the start was affected. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LAID BACK BON- Began awkwardly at the start.
 
RACE 4: BLACK TRUCK & HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARRA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M
 
ELUSIVE EAGLE- Laid in while racing in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
AIR WE GO- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ZOUCHASE- Began awkwardly and bumped with VELOCE METEOR shortly after the start. Approaching the 600m laid in momentarily inconveniencing VELOCE METEOR.
 
VELOCE METEOR- Began awkwardly when jumping in the air and then outward bumping with ZOUCHASE shortly after the start. Approaching the 600m was dictated out marginally. Laid in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ASTIN LANE- Began awkwardly at the start when jumping in.
 
BLERIOT- Raced wide without cover during the early stages.
 
RACE 5: VERN KLEINSCHMIDT COMMUNITY TRUST GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
 
SPEED MAP- Laid in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider.
 
BASIL’S BOW- Slow to begin. Jockey P Randall advised Stewards that his mount was disappointing in the run and it began to weaken from the 800m, failing to improve at any stage despite his best efforts. Stewards noted Jockey Randall’s comments.
 
KNOWITALL FRANK- Began awkwardly as the start was affected and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority. Apprentice Jockey R O’Connell reported that his mount was disappointing, and that after missing the start, the speed was “too hot for him” and as a result he failed to improve into the race despite his best efforts. Stewards noted Apprentice O’Connell’s comments.
 
THIEF BY NIGHT- Laid in during the middle stages of the event before being corrected by the rider.
 
TARADALE- APPR V SOULSBY- Began awkwardly and then raced towards the rear of the field for the majority.
 
RACE 6: HAYES SPRAYING/ WEED IT BATTLERS CUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1800M
 
BITOFTHEBLARNEY- Bumped with SUCCESSISMAGIC after the start was affected. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUCCESSISMAGIC- Began awkwardly bumping with BITOFTHEBLARNEY shortly after the start.
 
VEGA SICILIA- Raced wide for the majority. On returning to scale Apprentice Jockey R O’Connell reported that he’d dropped his whip approaching the 100m which prevented him from riding his mount out to the best of his ability to the line.
 
NITROGEN- Bumped with MINI BOO shortly after the start was affected.
 
AL ASH LAD- Raced keen during the early stages.
 
MINI BOO- Began awkwardly and made contact with the gates on jumping then bumped with NITROGEN shortly after the start.
 
MISSING BOUNDARIES- Began awkwardly. Raced erratically during the early stages and resented it when the rider was attempting to restrain the horse. Jockey C Taylor reported to stewards that he was caught off guard when the horse shifted out abruptly and he further advised that he’d aggravated an injury to his left small toe on the barrier gates. Stewards noted his comments.
 
LIVEWIRE LASS- Bumped with HEADLINE LEGEND shortly after the start. Apprentice Jockey I Jessop reported her mount had hung out and was caught out wide for the majority of the event. Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare a post-race veterinary examination was undertaken, this examination failed to detect any abnormalities. Stewards later spoke with Trainer Mr T Johnson who could offer no excuses, He was confident of a forward showing at the meeting, he thought after she was hampered at the start and began to hang out when being caught wide early, she was out of her normal racing pattern. Mr Johnson advised the mare had since pulled up well and worked well since the run. Stewards noted his comments and took no further action.
