NORWEGIAN WOOD – Bumped on the hind quarters leaving the 300 metres and became unbalanced.

Correct weight was delayed when L. Morrison (FEMALE OFFICER) which was placed second, lodged an objection against MAGNATE (F. Edwards) being declared the winner, alleging excessive use of the whip in the home straight. After hearing all of the evidence and viewing the available film footage stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that jockey F. Edwards breached rule AR132(5) and had used his whip in a full striking manner on every occasion and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers. Jockey Edwards will be interviewed at a later date in regard to his whip action.

Was accidentally struck over the head with the whip on two occasions by apprentice J. Edwards. Restrained and altered course near the 100 metres when tightened for room by LOVE FLIES which shifted in under riding.

Correct weight was delayed when stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey L. Morrison (CRAIGLEA SIMMO) which was placed third against 2nd placegetter COASTAL BOY (App J. Edwards) and LOVE FLIES (P. Romeo) being declared the winner. After hearing all of the evidence and viewing of the available film footage stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not have happened CRAIGLEA SIMMO would have beaten the respective runners home and as such dismissed both objections and declared weight on the judges semaphored numbers.

LOVE FLIES – Rider P. Romeo pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 100 metres he permitted LOVE FLIES to shift in under riding when not fully clear of CRAIGLEA SIMMO which had to be restrained and alter course to its outside. Jockey Romeo’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence at midnight 7 May 2022 and expire midnight 15 May 2022. Jockey Romeo was advised of his right to a review of this decision.
