OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – A. Holzhauser
Stewards – P. Lane, S. Copelin & Y. Walburgh-Schmidt

Race 1: TOP SKIPS Maiden Plate 1100 M

CHARM TELLER - Shifted in on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Made the 800m crossing awkwardly and raced wide for the majority of the race.

HITCHEDINMANHATTAN – Shifted out on jumping.

ELSPHERE – Shifted in under pressure approaching the 100m.

Race 2:FULLER SPORTS OPEN HANDICAP 1100 M

OVERLORD – Over raced in the early stages and made the 800m crossing awkwardly.

CROWNING MOMENT – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Shifted back to the inside running rail when racing tight with JOURNALISM approaching the home turn. Was obliged to shift out around heels when attempting to improve into a marginal run near the 100m.

JOURNALISM – Jockey A Holt was obliged to adjust his offside iron near the 200m.

SOUTHERN FRONT – Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post.

Following the running of this event, stewards together with a delegation of senior riders inspected a section of the track near the 400m which had been identified as an area of concern. Following the inspection a decision was made to proceed with the race meeting within a compressed timeframe due to further threatening weather. Stewards also made all riders aware of the reason for the inspection advising them to be mindful when negotiating this section of the course.

Race 3:TUFF TYRES QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1100 M

ASAMBE – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure down the running.

GROVER’S PREDICTION – Wide for the majority of the race.

LISTENTOZOU – Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority of the race.

SUPERSTITIONS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 4:TOWN & COUNTRY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1360 M

RECRUITER – Due to the gelding having raced on the 6/05/2025 at Townsville it underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Trainer R. Ludwig advised stewards the gelding suffered a laceration to its off fore heel in running. A subsequent veterinarian examination revealed the injury to be of a minor nature.

QUEENBEEL – Slow to begin.

Race 5:MAGIC MILLIONS/CAIRNS HARDWARE/ROB KOCH MEM/ROY MARSH MEM/FNQ U&C STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1800 M

BRAND NEW – The gelding’s barrier gates opened prematurely resulting in BRAND NEW beginning in advance of the remainder of the field. Starter Mr B Brady advised stewards that a number of runners were fractious after being loaded, contacting the front gates, which he believed to be the reason for this incident. Given the official margin between BRAND NEW (third) and OXFORDSHIRE (fourth) (2 ¾ lengths) stewards were of the opinion that there had been no material effect on the finishing positions of runners, and acting under the provisions of AR203, subsequently declared correct weight on the event.

WONG WAY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages.

MELANIN – Taken wider to improve near the 500m
