As the following runner SPEC OF SILVER had not raced for an extended period, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
 
RACE 1: COREY MACHAN SHEETMETAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 METRES

BALLROOM BOSS – Refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 1.48pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on BALLROOM BOSS were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. Trainer R. Moller was advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
 
SPIRIT GHOST – Refused to load, crashing through the plastic running rail and was declared a late scratching at 1.50pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SPIRIT GHOST were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to bets made between 1.48pm and 1.50pm, 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. Trainer Ms. L. McCormack was advised the mare must officially trial on two occasions to the steward’s satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial abrasions to the right upper eyelid and hind cannon bone.   
 
HARDLY FABIO – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Taylor was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
SUPER GALAXY – Slow to begin.
 
GERALDINE’S WISH – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight and laid in. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PARTY FOR US – Shifted in on its own accord near the 900 metres contacting the inside running rail. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out hampering GEE UP.
 
GEE UP – Hampered rounding the home turn.
 
CHARM TELLER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 2: GILVEAR PLANNING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 1100 METRES

YAMABUSHI – Blundered on jumping.
 
SUPERSTITIONS – Shifted out at the start tightening TARIFF.
 
BELLA BIANCA – Shifted in at the start tightening TARIFF.
 
TARIFF – Tightened for room on jumping between runners. Laid in over the concluding stages. Jockey K. Swaffer reported on returning to scale that in her opinion the gelding did not handle today’s track conditions.
 
CALM IS POWER – Slow into stride. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Co-Trainer P. Rowe advised stewards that following its disappointing performance today it is the intention the gelding be sent for an immediate spell. 
 
RACE 3: CAIRNS HARDWARE COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP - 1100 METRES

LOUD NOISE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and suffering from thumps. Co-Trainer P. Rowe was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to LOUD NOISE being permitted to race again.   
 
ALI’S JAB – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Placed in restricted room near the 400 metres and was restrained.
 
ZI WIN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
OUTBACK ACTION – Slow to begin.
 
OVERLORD – Crowded for room near the 400 metres and shifted in placing ALI’S JAB in restricted room.
 
YOUR TOO GOOD – Jockey W. D’Avila reported the saddle shifted back mid race placing him at a disadvantage.
 
RECRUITER – Laid in near the 400 metres crowding OVERLORD which shifted in placing ALI’S JAB in restricted room. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of RECRUITER stewards advised Ms. Thomson they would expect a greater effort in similar circumstances to prevent her horse shifting in.  
 
IMPARDOO – Stewards noted rider L. Morrison exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
 
RACE 4: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1100 METRES

ELLIE’S DREAM – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
LISTENTOZOU – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from rhabdo-myolysis (tying up).  Co-Trainer P. Rowe was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.      
 
NOBLE ATTACK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
RAETIHI – Over-raced in the early and middle stages when racing wide. 
 
NAPOLEON STRIKE – When asked to explain the performance today apprentice L. Guernier explained that after beginning well the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages and made the 700 metres crossing awkwardly and was unbalanced. Ms. Guernier further added the impost of 63kg today was also a telling factor and it may not have run a solid 1360 metres. Trainer R. Ludwig agreed with Ms. Guernier’s comments and advised the stewards he would monitor the horses’ progress going forward. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mild case of the thumps.

RACE 5:FULLER SPORTS/KERRY COPPIN MEMORIAL GORDONVALE CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1800 METRES

FAROOQ – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
OLYMPIC KORCHNOI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
SIR ROCKET – Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey L. Morrison pleaded guilty to a charge in that she used her whip in an excessive manner (+15) under AR132; Ms. Morrisons license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence at midnight Sunday 5/10/2025 and expire midnight 17/10/2025. Ms Morrison was advised of her appeal rights.
 
MAJOR ARTIE – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
BLUE STEEL – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
