GENERAL

Race 3, RED LIGHT POWER – Ms. L. Morrison +1Kg.
RACE 1: CITY AND COUNTRY & TUFF TYRES QTIS Maiden Plate 1100 M
MEAN ZIPPER – Slow to begin and then raced ungenerously for a short distance. Raced wide in the early stages of the race and made the 600 metre turn awkwardly shifting out forcing LIGHT MY LIFE wider.
RAAR – Began awkwardly. Shifted out soon after the start inconveniencing LIGHT MY LIFE. Raced wide when racing keenly in the early and middle stages of the race.
LIGHT MY LIFE –Shifted out at the start forcing BETTY BOOM wider. Inconvenienced soon after the start by RAAR which shifted out. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race. Forced wider by MEAN ZIPPER which shifted out when making the 600 metre turn awkwardly.
SHEZA BARBAROSSA – Blundered badly on jumping, shifted out bumping with TIME POWER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained a laceration above its fetlock on the right-fore limb and also to be lame in the off-foreleg. Co -Trainers Trevor and Peter Rowe were advised that it would require a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to racing or trialing again.
TIME POWER – Bumped on jumping.
BETTY BOOM – Forced wide on jumping when LIGHT MY LIFE shifted out. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
RACE 2: FULLER SPORTS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 M
BETTA AL – Slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field.
IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
SUPERSTITIONS – Unable to obtain clear running in the home straight when racing in restricted room, back to the inside of GOSSIP TORQUE which had a tendency to lay in. Went to the line without being fully tested.
GOSSIP TORQUE – Had a tendency to lay in down the home straight placing SUPERSTITIONS in restricted room.
ARCTIC BEAR – Finished tailed off. When questioned, Jockey A. Holt advised stewards that after leaving the 700-metre crossing the gelding felt awkward in its stride and as a result he did not test his mount out for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-fore front leg. Co-Trainers Trevor and Peter Rowe were advised that it would require a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to racing or trialing again
RACE 3: TOWN & COUNTRY AG CLASS 2 Handicap 1100 M
The start of this race was delayed when the on-course QAS had to attend to a member of the public that required medical attention.
RED LIGHT POWER – Shifted out on jumping and bumped TIPPED OFF. Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
TIPPED OFF – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
GREY POWER – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
IRISH GIFT – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its tongue during the race.
RACE 4: RIVERSTONE CONCRETING 2026 BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER Open Handicap 1100 M
IMPARDOO – Slow into stride.
RED HOT LIZZIE – Slow into stride.
RAETIHI (NZ) – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.
RACE 5: TOP SKIPS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1360 M
STARMEIRA – Fractious in the barriers as the start was effected, bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
GERALDINE’S WISH – Slow into stride.
WICKED GAMES – Rider lost whip near the winning post. Jockey D’Avilia advised stewards in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable on the tight turning track today.
RACE 6: MAGIC MILLIONS/CAIRNS HARDWARE/ROY MARSH MEM/ROB KOCH MEM/FNQ U&C STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 M
KING CANUTE – Shifted out on jumping bumping with OLYMPIC KORCHNOI. Finished tailed off. When questioned about the gelding’s performance today, Jockey W. D’Avila could offer no reason for the horse not responding to his riding. When question Trainer Ms. R. Shulenz stated that in her opinion the step up in distance was not beneficial to the horse today and the gelding did not get an easy lead. She also stated it was her intention to give it a freshen up before she decides on its next start. Ms. Shulenz stated she would advise the stewards if any issues arose over the next few days. A post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any obvious abnormalities,
OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – Bumped on jumping.
