GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweights due to no other rider being available.
Race 6. Frank Edwards (PANDA DRUM) +4.0kg
 
The following runners were declared late scratchings at 11:30am due to either no rider or no suitable rider being available:

Race 1: BRODIE & CO QTIS Maiden Plate 800M
 
WHO ASKED ZOU – Was presented to the mounting yard without blinkers. Trainer Tanya Parry was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 106(1) for presenting WHO ASKED ZOU to race with the incorrect gear. Slow to begin. Resented the kickback in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
PRONTO PERCY – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer Tanya Parry was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of PRONTO PERCY, which was having its first race start on dirt. Raced ungenerously in the early stages due to resenting the kickback and refused to stretch out. Ran wide when making the home turn.
 
 
RACE 2: CLEMMENTS ELECTRICAL/BRODIE HARDWARE BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000M
 
EXOLENT CHOICE – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping, losing ground, however recovered quickly and was ridden forward to obtain the lead.
 
VIKING VALOUR – Tightened for room leaving the 800 metres and lost ground.  Resented the kickback in the middle stages.
 
KWIK AZ HELL – Shifted in and away from EXOLENT CHOICE leaving the 800 metres, tightening VIKING VALOUR, which was racing to its inside and lost ground.
 
I’M OPINIONATED – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
RACE 3: MITECH/GOS CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1150M
 
LONE ARTIST – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
PENNYPACKER – Began awkwardly.
 
ZAVABOOM – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
FORTRESS AUSTRALIA – Began awkwardly.
 
 
RACE 4: CUSTOM STEEL FAB – KEVIN MALONE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1300M
 
VONK – Shifted in on jumping bumping with RED SUTURE. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
MISTER MODERATION – Blundered on jumping however recovered quickly. Raced keenly in the early stages. 
 
RED SUTURE – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping, then bumped shortly after.
 
THREEFOLD – Began awkwardly. Held up and was unable to improve leaving the 450 metres before shifting across the heels of VONK leaving the 250 metres to obtain clear running.
 
DIOSA – Bounded in the air as the start was affected.
 
 
RACE 5: BURKE SHIRE CUP/OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE – HEAT – OPEN Handicap 1300M
 
PERVADE (GB) – Began awkwardly.
 
HANG FIVE – Began awkwardly.
 
SWAMP NATION – Inclined to lay in through the early stages of the home straight.
 
REVVED UP READY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 

RACE 6: LOHMAN CONTRACTING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1500M
 
ALLEZIZZY – Began very awkwardly and shifted out crowding PANDA DRUM, then bumped with that runner on several occasions shortly after. When questioned regarding the performance of ALLEZIZZY, apprentice rider Hayley Saunders stated that the mare failed to handle the first corner and became unbalanced at that point. Apprentice Saunders stated further that ALLEZIZZY relaxed mid-race however failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
MANIC LIGHT – Shifted in on jumping, crowding PANDA DRUM.
 
INFINITE PRINCE – Threw its head in the air shortly after the start. When questioned on the performance, rider Jason Babarovich stated that after settling behind the leaders, the gelding resented the kickback and did not stretch out in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
PANDA DRUM – Crowded for room on jumping, then bumped with ALLEZIZZY on several occasions shortly after. Lost contact with the field in the early stages when beaten for speed.
 
PARISIENNE PIPER – Began awkwardly. Apprentice rider Tilly McCarroll reported at scale that her saddle shifted soon after the gates opened, placing her mount at a disadvantage.
 
SWEETPEA MOOCHI – Rider Todd Banks reported at scale that his saddle shifted back in the final straight, placing his mount at a disadvantage.
