Race 2: HERE'S TO OUR FOTF SPONSORS Class B Handicap (1030m)

The start of this race was delayed by approximately 7 minutes when OUR DRUMMER became fractious en route to the barriers and placed itself in an awkward position between the outside rail and the parked QAS Ambulance. When the gelding became increasingly fractious whilst in this position, apprentice rider C. Francis took evasive action to dismount for the safety of herself and the gelding. The gelding subsequently maneuvered out of this position and ran riderless for a considerable distance, making contact with the outside running rail before being recaptured. OUR DRUMMER subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 2:10pm.

On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on OUR DRUMMER to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:

1st - ABSOLVE – 33c win, 29c place.
2nd - SMACKEROONY – 29c place.

ABSOLVE – Raced 3-wide without cover throughout.

FRENCH WISH – When questioned regarding todays performance, apprentice rider T. Wheeler could offer no tangible explanation for his mount’s disappointing effort.
