General:
Due to having competed at Townsville on 29/11/2022 the following horses underwent a pre-race veterinary examination: KEIGHLEY SUN, CHAOTIC CRANACH, DON’T DOUBT HINCHI, REDZEB and SUNNY EKCELS.
Scratchings:
RACE 3 – JEITOSO, MISHANI PATRIOT
RACE 5- KOSCINA – dual acceptor- engaged in Race 4.
The following horses were late scratchings due to no available rider
RACE 4 – LINE OF KINGS, BOLD ZIP, ILLECEBROUS, CHANTILLY.
RACE 5 – RIVERINA DEMAND, SHE’S ABLAZING.
Race 1: XMAS GREETINGS Benchmark 65 Handicap 1460m
LOUIE THE LEGEND – Hung in when leading in the back straight.
KEIGHLEY SUN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Steadied off the heels of LOUIE THE LEGEND at the 250 metres to obtain clear running.
Race 2: TIS THE SEASON Class B Handicap 1460m
TARGET THE STARS – Raced wide when challenging for the lead until the 800 metres.
DON’T DOUBT HINCHI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and waspassed fit to race. Cast a hind plate in the day stalls and connections were granted permission for the gelding to race without both hind plates. Raced wide for the majority.
CHAOTIC CRANACH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and waspassed fit to race. Slow into stride.
TAX HAVEN – Raced wide for majority.
Race 3: HAPPY NEW YEAR Maiden Plate 1180m
FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriersafter Jockey N Summers reported the mare was not free in her action on route to the barriers and appeared uncomfortable. FAIRYBOWER FLYER was declared a late scratching at 3.15 p.m. on Veterinary advice.
Prior to correct weight being declared, all monies invested on FAIRYBOWER FLYER were ordered to be refunded in full and the following deductions to be applied to winnings bets.

FAIRYBOWER FLYER underwent a post-race veterinary examination which confirmed the mare to be bloated due to being unable to urinate due to a nervous condition. After passing urine in the swab stall post race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that FAIRYBOWER FLYER was suffering from no ongoing injury or illness.
ORCUS – Collided with another runner on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
SINGLE MALT – The saddle slipped forward on the gelding shortly after jumping placing Apprentice J Edwards at a disadvantage. Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
MISS FU – Having its first race start and was extremely hesitant to progress to the barriers in its preliminary. A warning was issued to connections. A veterinary examination behind the barriers was undertaken and Miss Fu was passed fit to start.
SHEZ THE WOLF – It was noted that Jockey Cullen stopped riding his mount with 50 metres remaining when the mare was under pressure and holding its ground. Stewards noted the margin of three quarters of a length by the third placegetter SINGLE MALT which comfortably finishedover SHEZ THE WOLF. Jockey P Cullen (4th)was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mount right out to the winning post in similar circumstances. (AR131 b).
TORQUE IS SAVVY – Collided with another runner on jumping.
Race 4: SANTA’S COMING TO TOWN Benchmark 45 Handicap 1180m
LUMERAI – Bumped at the 50 metres.
REDZEB – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. On arriving at the barriers REDZEB and Jockey P Cullen were kicked simultaneously by another runner. REDZEB underwent a further pre-race veterinary examination folowing this incident and was passed fit to race however Jockey P. Cullen sustained an injury to his left foot and was unable to ride the gelding. Jockey Cullen will be required to provide a medical clearance before riding again.
REDZEB was a late scratching at 4.03 p.m due to no available rider.

MARNDARRA – Race wide for the majority.
SUNNY EKCELS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Jumped awkwardly losing ground at the start. Raced wide.
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Shifted in and bumped LUMERAI at the 50 metres.
Race 5: SEASON GREETINGS QTIS Class 3 Plate 1000m
Prior to betting commencing, LE RUBIS was a late scratching at 4.15 p.m. due to Jockey P Cullen being injured in the previous race and no other rider was available.
COCO CUBER – Slow to begin and raced wide. Ran wide on the home turn.
HALSIDE HAMMER – Jockey C Spry reported that HALSIDE HAMMER overraced and that he had to ease off the heels of DEVIL at the 300 metres.
RUSTY ROSE – Raced wide throughout.
CAT IN THE RAINE – Slow to begin.
