SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
Prior to the running of race 8, it was established by Stewards that runner #4 PICTON and runner #9 FOREVEREDE were both presented to the mounting yard with incorrect saddles, with each horse strapped with the others saddle. At a subsequent inquiry trainer S. Bush pleaded guilty and was fined the sum of $500.00 in relation to a charge issued pursuant to AR106(1).
 
 
Race 1: SEASONS GREETINGS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
 
SNEAKY FREDDY – Proved difficult to load. Trainer S. Acornley was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.
 
HAND GRENADE – Laid out under pressure when ridden with the whip over the concluding stages.
 
ROCKET POWER – Granted permission to race without the offside hind plate after casting the plate and being unable to be reshod. Attempts to remove the nearside hind plate were also unsuccessful due to ROCKET POWER kicking.
 
MISHANI STYLE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s record. Lost the off-fore plate in running.
 
Race 2: MERRY XMAS CLASS 6 PLATE  1000 M
 
TRAVERS – Bumped with MALVAGIO on jumping.
 
MALVAGIO – Bumped with TRAVERS on jumping. Slow into stride.
 
FINAL WARNING – Slow into stride. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
MORETON BAY – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding tactics adopted by rider J. Murphy. After taking initial evidence from J. Murphy and trainer J. Manzelmann, the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.
 
 
Race 3: HAPPY HOLIDAYS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   1460 M
 
CIAO BICKY – Raced wide throughout and tired over the concluding stages. Trainer D. Amos advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
KOPANGI (NZ) – Very slow to begin. Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
LADY RAIN – Over raced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 4: TIS THE SEASON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 M
 
HEEZA HUBSESSION – Momentarily shifted out when rounding the home turn. Was obliged to be steadied away from JERIDAH at the 100m when that runner attempted a narrow run to the inside.
 
JERIDAH – Approaching the 150m, attempted a narrow run to the inside of HEEZA HUBSESSION where marginal room existed and had to be checked at the 100m. Apprentice B. Johnson was advised to exercise greater care when trying to obtain a clear run-in similar circumstances.
 
EXTRA FREE – Commenced to over race and had to be momentarily steadied at the 700m. Raced ungenerously and shifted out shortly thereafter, racing wide for the remainder.
 
FREE LADY – Slow to begin.
 
TING A LING – Jumped very awkwardly.
 
SUPER CHEAP – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: CHEERS TO 2024 MAIDEN HANDICAP  1180 M
 
BRADBURY'S EXPRESS – Shifted out on jumping, bumping CHRISTMAS TIME which then bumped HEAD BEE. Raced ungenerously throughout.
 
CHRISTMAS TIME – Bumped by BRABURY’S EXPRESS on jumping and was carried out onto HEAD BEE.
 
FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record.
 
HEAD BEE – Bumped by CHRISTMAS TIME on jumping after that runner was contacted by BRADBURY’S EXPRESS.
 
QUE CEE SPADE – Approaching the 650m, was obliged to shift wider on the track when VOLARCHI shifted ground at that point. Apprentice R. Wilson was questioned regarding the reason she elected to continue to race wide between the 650m and the home turn and not ease her mount to trail the winner VOLARCHI forward. App. Wilson stated that she believed if she elected to restrain, momentum would be lost and therefore elected to press forward three wide. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 6: SILENT NIGHT MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP  1180 M
 
HELL OF A BOY – Shifted abruptly back to the rail approaching the 100m.
 
KISS ME LATER – Apprentice B. Moffat rode the gelding at his minimum riding weight of 56kg. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers due to being kicked when arriving behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Improved onto the heels of UNDER THE LIMIT approaching the 600m and was obliged to steady. Commenced to over race for some distance shortly thereafter. Raced ungenerously in the home straight.
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER - Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and found to have a minor skin wound on the near side hind gaskin.
 
Race 7: JINGLE BELLS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1000 M
 
SINGLE HONOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
GREENHEART (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
STRATHCONA – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOOM RANGA – At the 900m, obliged to steady off the heels of GREENHEART (NZ) which shifted in. Laid in in the early stages of the home straight.
 
KIHI – Reared over in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:11pm. Jockey A Layt received Ambulance attention for a lower neck injury and concussion.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies wagered on KIHI to be refunded and the following deductions applied to all successful wagers;

3rd 17c
 
Trainer S. Bush was advised that KIHI will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming.

THE LAST CRUSADE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: HAPPY NEW YEAR RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP  1460 M
 
NIGHT GUY – Raced wide until the 700m.
 
PICTON – Jockey D Smith replaced injured rider A Layt. Raced wide throughout.
 
COODARADY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:47pm. when found to be showing signs of near side foreleg hoof soreness.   Trainer L. McCormack was advised that COODARADY will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies wagered on COODARADY to be refunded and the following deductions applied to all successful wagers;

FOREVEREDE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:48pm after becoming fractious and being injured in the barriers. Trainer S. Bush was advised that FOREVEREDE will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies wagered on FOREVEREDE to be refunded and the following deductions applied to all successful wagers
