GENERAL
1. Stewards questioned trainer Mr Josh Manzelmann regarding the late scratching of BEPPE from Race 6 today. In explanation Mr Manzelmann stated that he believed he had processed the scratching by the required time however this did not occur, and BEPPE was not withdrawn until 7:55am.
Stewards reprimanded Mr Manzelmann under LR68(1) and firmly reminded him of his obligations with respect to such matters.
2. Stewards opened an investigation into the late scratching of SNIPILLICIOUS at 12:15pm for reason of no rider being available when there was in fact a available rider -
3. Stewards permitted the following overweight.
R2 – Chris Meehan (QUEENBEEL) +1kg
4. Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry, to a time and date to be set, after trainer Mr Derby Amos withdrew FINANCE PARTNER, MISHANI MAVERICK and RELEASE LE MISSLE from their engagements following the running of Race 3.
Race 1: BURDEKIN VETERINARY SERVICES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1460 M
REMLAP KAVA –held up for clear running in the early part of the final straight before being angled wider to improve passing the 150 metres. Stewards reviewed the vision of the final stages of the race with Apprentice Samantha Pointon, in the presence of Riding Master Carl Spry, with reference to potential alternative options available to her, when after being held up rounding the final turn she drew the gelding wider on the track to improve.
SHE’S A MISSION – steadied off heels for some distance in the early stages on a slow tempo.
MISHANI AMORE – proved fractious when parading prior to the start – warning placed.
Race 2: STAR LIQUOR BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1460 M
JOY MCCOY (NZ) – travelled wide throughout.
ZOUHOPE – slow into stride
THE SEEKER – travelled wide with cover.
BITTERGREYMAGIC – rider Nathan Thomas reported that the gelding had hung out throughout the event.
MISHANI PERFECTION – fractious prior to the start; held up rounding the final turn and when taken into clear running bumped with the weakening JOY MCCOY (NZ).
QUEENBEEL (NZ) – slow to begin.
Race 3: HIT 103.1 MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
ALPINE POWER – lost contact in the early stages and finished well back. Trainer Mr Derby Amos was advised that a warning had been placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
BOMBINATE – crowded and had to steady passing the 800 metres when GLAD RAG DOLL improved into a marginal run when I’LLTELLYOUI’MIN lay out when making the turn. After questioning riders, it was established that when I’LLTELLYOUI’MIN lay out, GLAD RAG DOLL, came on to the bridle and, despite the rider’s efforts, attempted to occupy the vacated space. When being corrected GLAD RAG DOLL shifted in resulting in BOMBINATE having to steady.
FAITH OVER FEAR – lay out under pressure over the final 200 metres crowding ONE SHOT MORE wider on the track.
GLAD RAG DOLL – over-raced for a short distance passing the 800 metres.
KOBIE’S LUCK – was a late scratching at 2:27pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Connections were advised that KOBIE’S LUCK must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing next. Stewards declared that all bets on KOBIE’S LUCK be refunded with the following deductions –
1st FEAR OVER FAITH $0.27c Win and $0.25c Place
2nd ONE MORE SHOT $0.25c Place.
ONE SHOT MORE – inconvenienced over the final stages when FAITH OVER FEAR lay out.
I’LLTELLYOUI’MIN – lay out when making the turn near the 800 metres.
Race 4: STAFFORD STOCK & PROPERTY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 M
INJADA -travelled wide throughout.
MISHANI AVIATOR -travelled wide in the early stages.
SNIPILLICIOUS – was a late scratching at 11:30am after the gelding was not transported to the meeting due to trainer Ms. Shryn Royes believing there was no available rider. This was not the case. Given all circumstances Ms. Royes was fined $100.00 under LR68(1) and firmly reminded of her obligations to scratch her runners by the required deadline when she does not intend to start.
WITHOUT - fractious in the enclosure; dislodged Apprentice Samantha Pointon when leaving the enclosure and travelled a considerable distance before being recaptured. Apprentice Pointon was attended by QAS medical personnel which necessitated the meeting being delayed while a second ambulance was called. Apprentice Pointon was transferred to Townsville University Hospital with a suspected broken wrist. Connections of BASQUE were advised that a warning had been placed on the racing manners of WITHOUT. Stewards declared WITHOUT a late scratching at 2:57pm and ordered that all bets on WITHOUT be refunded with the following deductions –
1st BASQUE $0.04c Win and $0.05c Place
2nd INJADA $0.06c Place.
3rd COSMIC ATOM $0.06c Place.
FINANCE PARTNER – was a late scratching at 3:25pm – this matter is subject to an adjourned inquiry. Stewards ordered all bets on FINANCE PARTNER, relative to the prior late scratching of WITHOUT to be refunded with the following deductions,
1st BASQUE $0.04c Win and $0.05c Place
2nd INJADA $0.06c Place.
Race 5: 2025 BATTLE OF THE BUSH HOME HILL QUALIFIER OPEN PLATE 1180 M
AIDENABET – slow to begin.
SIR ROCKET – slow in the early stages; upon returning to scale rider Nathan Thomas reported that he had struck his right knee on the barrier structure when the start was affected. Rider Thomas was examined by QAS Officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
CHICKERARTIE – travelled 3-wide for most of the event.
Race 6: RACING QUEENSLAND QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1180 M
READY TO PARDON – Rider Ivo Fry was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the line when circumstances permit after relaxing his ride approaching the post and narrowly retaining 4th placing.
TOW THE LINE – Stewards approved senior rider Aiden Holt replaced Samantha Pointon (injured) as there were no claiming apprentices available.
BLOOMIN’ RIPPER – travelled 3-wide throughout; Apprentice Tyler Leslight was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the line when circumstances permit after he relaxed his ride approaching the post when contending for 4th placing.
BEPPE – was a late scratching at 7:55am. Trainer Mr Joshua Manzelmann was reprimanded under LR68(1) and firmly reminded him of his obligations with respect to adherence to prescribed scratching deadlines.
MISHANI MAVERICK – was a late scratching at 3:35pm - this matter is subject to an adjourned inquiry
Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. BURDEKIN CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP
OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) Stewards questioned rider Aiden Holt regarding the run of OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) which performed below market expectations finishing last. In explanation Rider Holt stated that the impost of carrying a significant weight today had proved detrimental to its chances.
NINE CARATS -Stewards approved senior rider Graham Kliese replaced Samantha Pointon (injured) as there were no claiming apprentices available.
RELEASE LE MISSILE - was a late scratching at 3:35pm - this matter is subject to an adjourned inquiry
