Race 1: TMK CRANE HIRE QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000M

Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of QUINSTEP GIRL (Ty Wheeler) to review the replay of the concluding stages of the event. After doing so, he declined to proceed with a protest and correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.

HELLARAMA – Steadied over the final 100 metres after QUINSTEP GIRL laid out under pressure at that point.

POLLY HOFFA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Compounded over the concluding stages. Raced below market expectations. When questioned on the performance of POLLY HOFFA, Jockey Michael Mcdonald stated that the filly travelled strongly in the early stages of the event, however in his opinion POLLY HOFFA felt uncomfortable on the Hughenden track today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

THUNDER MOON – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with POLLY HOFFA. Raced wide throughout.

DATINKA – Slow into stride.

MARREW FANCY NANCY – Inclined to lay in through the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

The start of Race 2 was delayed 4 minutes to allow SUMMER SIZZLING to be re-saddled.

DEAL AN ACE – Raced wide throughout.

SUMMER SIZZLING – Slow into stride. Laid in through the early part of the straight before being corrected by its rider.

ANOTHER JACK – Inclined to lay in through the early stages.

OFFANGO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

PROJECT XERO – Began awkwardly.

PARISIAN LADY – Slow into stride. Finished distanced from the field. When questioned on the performance, Jockey Denicious Smith could offer no real explanation other than that PARISIAN LADY failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the right fore hoof.  Trainer Tanya Parry was advised that PARISIAN LADY will require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.

GULF OF SIDRA – On returning to scale, Jockey Shane McGovern stated to Stewards that his saddle slipped approaching the 500 metres resulting in GULF OF SIDRA not being able to be fully tested over the concluding stages.

Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN ENERGY SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200M

SEIRYU – Slow into stride. Improved onto the heels of MISSION HOUSE shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Raced keenly in the middle stages. On returning to scale, Jockey Denicious Smith reported that in his opinion SEIRYU did not handle the Hughenden track today.

PENNYPACKER – Bumped on jumping.

RACATOON – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.

BELLEOFTHEHUNTER – Proved difficult to load. Stood flat-footed at the start and was very slow to begin as a result. Trainer Shryn Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the mares record.

THE BOI – Shifted out at the start bumping with PENNYPACKER.

Race 4: VIPER WATER SOLUTIONS Maiden Plate 1400M

NOBLE VALOUR – Laid in over the concluding stages.

CLEAN SHAVEN – Very slow into stride. Finished distanced from the field. When questioned on the performance, Jockey Tessa Townsend stated that the gelding failed to stretch out at any stage and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Tanya Parry was advised that CLEAN SHAVEN must perform a satisfactory trial or jumpout prior to being permitted to race again.

WANNA GET TIPSY – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 3.31pm when found to be lame in the off-hind leg.  All monies wagered on WANNA GET TIPSY were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions to be applicable:

1st OVERIMPATIENT– 16 cents the win, 18 cents the place
2nd NOBLE VALOUR – 18 cents the place

Trainer Terry Hall was advised that WANNA GET TIPSY would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Race 5: PRARIE SERVICES PTY LTD OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE – HEAT – OPEN Handicap 1400M

MR METRICS – Taken in after being bumped by STRIKE POINT passing the 1300 metres. Raced wide throughout.

HANG FIVE – Bumped by MR METRICS when that runner was taken inward passing the 1300 metres.

SCORCHED LAND – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping and was slow to begin as a result.

STRIKE POINT – Shifted in abruptly for a short distance passing the 1300 metres bumping with MR METRICS, which was taken in onto HANG FIVE. Stewards noted jockey Tessa Townsend exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+1) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken.

JETSKI – Slow into stride.

BRING ME FLOWERS – Raced wide throughout. Finished distanced from the field. When questioned on the performance, Jockey Shane McGovern stated that as BRING ME FLOWERS was having its first race start on dirt, it was his opinion that the mare didn’t appreciate the track conditions today.
