GROOVE CITY – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover throughout.

Race 2: ROYAL HOTEL Maiden Plate 1000M

The start of Race 2 was delayed by approximately 35 minutes (2:35PM) due to a power outage on course. Once power was restored all systems were tested including photo finish equipment, and the race proceeded without further issue.

CHARGRILL – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before shifting to the outside of OUTCAST SOLDIER passing the 200 metres

AFFIRMATIVE LIGHT – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.

CARD BOARD CUT OUT – Approaching the 400-metre point, CARD BOARD CUT OUT blundered and lost ground, resulting in several runners having to steady at that point. Rider Robert Faehr reported that the mare didn’t appreciate the Hughenden track conditions today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

MARREW FANCY NANCY – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied approaching the 400 metres. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.

On returning to scale, rider Nor Yadi, rider of 3rd placegetter TENGUN ANNIE, advised that he wished to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter SPIRITED alleging interference approaching the 150 metres. After consideration of all relevant factors including evidence from the respective riders and connections, along with vision of the event, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judges’ semaphored numbers.

Race 5: VIPER WATER SOLUTIONS HUGHENDEN CUP OPEN Handicap 1400M

Following the running of Race 5, the declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review the start via the patrol footage and to interview Starter Mr C. Rogers, in order to determine whether all runners were afforded a fair start.

Mr Rogers reported that upon activating the starting mechanism, the barriers failed to open in unison. Specifically, BURDEKIN and BADGE gained an immediate advantage as their barriers opened first, while LE FORCE’s barrier was significantly slow to respond. Additionally, the barriers of JETSKI, HANG FIVE, GO GETABOY, DEEP BREATH, and METAL BAR were also observed to open in a delayed sequence.

After considering all available evidence, including the patrol footage and the Starter’s report, Stewards were satisfied that the majority of runners engaged were not afforded a fair start and therefore, acting under the provisions of AR 205, Stewards declared the event a No Race.
