GENERAL

Overweight:
Race 5, L. Guernier (LOVE ON SUNDAY) +1.0kg to meet her declared riding weight.
Race 5, I. Fry (DEVIL KICK) +1.0kg
 
RACE 1: MITRE 10 HANDY INGHAM MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M
 
LICHFIELD ANGEL – Fractious during transit to the course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed a minor abrasion to its near hind hip and was cleared to race. Bumped on jumping.
 
OURMISSILE – Shifted out on jumping and bumped LICHFIELD ANGEL.
 
SHON A STAR – Shortly after the start faulted and fell dislodging rider A. Thomason. Ms. Thomson was assessed by QAS and cleared of any injuries. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had injured its pelvic ligaments. Trainer T. McGovern was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to SHON A STAR trialing or racing again.    
 
VIVA LA JUICY – Slow into stride. Horse put its head down when pulling up harmlessly dislodging rider. Jockey W. D’Avila was assessed by QAS and cleared of any injuries.
 
MONTANA EXPRESS – Offside iron leather strap broke at the 100 meters placing jockey C. Meehan at a disadvantage. Then when pulling up he became unbalanced and was dislodged giving him a harmless fall. Jockey C. Meehan was assessed by QAS and cleared of any injuries.
 
Stewards re-inspected a section of the track from the 1100 metres to the 900 metres and deemed the track safe for racing.  

RACE 2: MARIAN & PIERA CATERING QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
NOT WORTH IT – Slow into stride. On returning to scales jockey A. Holt advised stewards the horse resented the firm surface.
 
CRAICARO – Slow into stride.
 
LETHALLY STELLA – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover for the majority.
 
VEE EIGHT POWER – Raced wide for the majority.
 
RUGGED ROY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 3: INGHAM CELLARBRATIONS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – As the gelding had not raced for an extended time it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Over raced in the middle stages and made the home turn awkwardly.
 
HOT TORQUE INVEGAS – Wide for the majority.
 
GREY POWER – Wide for the majority.
 
MARGOT BARBIE – Wide for the majority.
 
RACE 4: STOKES & COMPANY ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1600 M
 
YOU ARE KING – Was declared a late scratching at 11:15am under veterinary advice. Trainer B. Kliese was advised the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next trial or start.
 
TORQUE ESPANGNA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 4:06pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on TORQUE ESPANGA were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable on all winning bets prior to 4:06pm. Trainer L. Manzelmann was advised the mare will require a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
 
LEGAL CHALLENGE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Slow to begin. Trainer Shryn Royes was advised a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
KEEP ON RUNNING – With the uncertainty of the available footage stewards reminded jockey F. Edwards of his obligations in regard to the use of the whip and no further action was taken.
 
COMBAT CRUSADER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Trainer R. Singleton was advised a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have injured its off front tendon. Trainer R. Singleton was advised to provide a full veterinary clearance with scans of its off front tendon prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
THE GENERAL TALKS – Wide for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 5: NQIB COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE Qualifier/Hinchinbrook Cup Open HANDICAP 1400 M
 
DEVIL KICK – Rider C. Meehan who was returning after injury was unable to make the allotted weight and was replaced by jockey I. Fry. Stewards noted the circumstances and issued jockey C. Meehan with a reprimand.
 
HIGHER LOVE – Slow to begin.
 
IMPARDOO – Shifted in on jumping and bumped LOVE ON SUNDAY.
 
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Bumped on jumping.  
 
STRATHCONA – Raced wide in the early stages.
