GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following to be overweight.
 
R5: Ivo Fry (KHAMIS) +1kg.
 
 
 
RACE 1:    COSCA ACCOUNTANT'S QTIS MAIDEN PLATE          1200M
 
HAZ STYLES – was declared at late scratching at 1:49pm after a veterinary examination at the barriers found the gelding to be sore in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr Troy Clive was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to HAZ STYLES next racing.Stewards ordered that all wagers on ZAZ STYLES be refunded and that all successful wagers placed prior to 1:49pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket:
* 1st SHADYVALE AL  13 cents Win /12 cents Place
* 2nd VOLARE: 12 cents
* 3rd BESTOW: 12 cents.

 
SHADYVALE AL – lay in approaching the post crowding PROPER BENDER which had to steady.
WRITTEN JEWEL – travelled wide for the majority.
VOLARE – lay out under pressure over the concluding stages crowding PROPER BENDER which had to steady.
BESTOW –Rider Ben Kennedy sustained a dental injury after his mount lowered its head following the race, resulting in the rider striking the horse and dislodging a tooth; was attended by the on-track veterinarian following the race after becoming distressed after exiting the parade ring. A post-race sample was taken from the filly.
PROPER BENDER – lay in passing the 150 metres and had to be corrected; crowded and had to steady near the 75 metres when between VOLARE, which laid out under riding and SHADYVALE AL which lay in. Apprentice Samantha Pointon rider of the fourth placed PROPER BENDER lodged a protest against first placed SHADYVALE AL alleging interference over the concluding stages. After consideration of all relevant factors the protest was dismissed.
WORTHY BELLE – slow into stride and settled back.
 
RACE 2:    LAHTINEN ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP   1200M

HOT PURSUIT – underwent a veterinary inspection at the barriers and passed fit to run after contacting the outside fence leaving the parade area; held up and unable to improve until passing the 100 metres.
FALLGUY – began awkwardly lost for pace in the early stages.
GUAPO – inclined to lay in throughout the final straight.
PREMIUM STAR – got back in the early stages; had to be taken out across heels to obtain clear running passing the 200 metres.
TO LOVE SOMEBODY – travelled wide for the majority.
WHISKEY GLASSES – held up over the final 100 metres.
CHARM TELLER – crowded and had to steady near the 1,000 metres when inside SHERE KHAN (Masa Abe) which, when improving forward to the lead, shifted in when not clear. Rider Abe was reprimanded under AR131(a).
 
RACE 3:    INGHAM MAZDA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP          1000M
 
COCHRANE – commenced to over-race when being restrained to trail near the 700 metres; had to steady passing the 600 metres when to the inside of AIRBORNE HOTDOG (Masa Abe). After speaking with Apprentice Jaimee-Lee Devine (COCHRANE) and rider Abe, and reviewing the very limited vision of that section of the race the Stewards took the matter no further, other than to firmly remind rider Abe of his obligations when crossing.
WRITE YOUR OWN (NZ) – travelled wide for the majority.
TOW THE LINE – pulled up quickly after the finish displaying significant soreness in the hind quarters. TOW THE LINE underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed soreness consistent with the mare having knuckled over on its hind fetlock joint. TOW THE LINE was treated by the on-track veterinarian to assist with its travel back to its training base. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to TOW THE LINE next racing.
 
RACE 4:    WIN NEWS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP           1400M
 
TYMON – bounded in the air on jumping and got back.
WHATTA WHITT – Raced fiercely through the middle stages and took charge of rider Lacey Morrison approaching the 900 metres. As a result, surrounding riders accommodated Ms Morrison due to the difficulties she was experiencing. After passing the winning post, when Ms Morrison attempted to ease the gelding, it again took charge and continued to gallop for some distance before collapsing and dying. Ms Morrison was uninjured. Samples were obtained from the deceased horse.
REDLIGHTS ON – when questioned regarding the improved performance of race winner REDLIGHTS ON, trainer Mr Stephen Bush could offer no obvious reason other than the gelding may have been suited by the change to a female rider today.
LUCKY JIM – travelled wide throughout.
MOHAWK WARRIOR – travelled wide for the majority of the race.
YOUWANNAPEACHOFME – shifted wider
MAJESTIC BLAZE – slow into stride.
 
RACE 5:    INGHAM CELLARBRATIONS INGHAM GOLD CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP       1600M

MISTERKIPCHOGE (NZ) – travelled wide in the middle stages; lay in over the final 200 metres.
MEDAL (NZ) – slow into stride and settled back; travelled 3-wide for the majority of the race; lay in when weakening passing the 150 metres.
EYELIFT – settled back after the start.
YOROKOBI (NZ) – over-raced in the middle stages; travelled wide in the early stages.
