Post-race veterinary examination found that some stiffness was present post -race and was provided precautionary treatment due to having to travel some distance home. Stewards subsequently spoke with Trainer Mr W Pugsley who advised the horse had travelled and pulled up well post-race. Mr Pugsley advised that he would contact Stewards should the horse’s condition deteriorate over coming days. No veterinary certificate was required.
BARRYTHEBARBARIC- Jockey T Banks reported on returning to scale his mount had raced greenly throughout. Stewards noted his comments.
LAID BACK BON- Jumped in at the start and bumped with TEAJAY and Apprentice Jockey H Saunders appeared to over correct her mount bumping TRIBESMAN heavily which was dictated onto ZELENKA shortly after the start.

A post-race veterinary examination confirmed a bilateral bleed from both nostrils with the gelding having incurred a 3-month mandatory ban from racing by stewards acting under the provision of AR 79 and ALPINE RAIDER would be required to pass a 1000m gallop and/or trial/jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to returning to racing.

The mare continued to race riderless throughout. Stewards examined the race footage available to them and declared TILLUSSION a runner. Trainer M Gavin advised the horse showed no ill effects of the incident and would give an undertaking that should she pull up sore in coming days that she would notify stewards accordingly. Stewards later contacted Apprentice Jockey Meissner who advised she was fine but had some stiffness in her right knee. Stewards noted her comments and advised her that should her condition become worse in coming days to seek medical advice.
RANGI TOA- Raced wide for the majority of the event, was dictated wide during the early stages by the riderless horse. Steward’s inquired into Apprentice Jockey Ms A Meissner being dislodged. Regrettably, the race day footage was inconclusive and failed to show any rider or horse responsible to Ms A Meissner being dislodged. All riders were advised to exercise care when shifting ground in the future. Stewards therefore recorded the matter as a racing incident.

SEEYA LATER GATER- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
VERY GRATEFUL- When approaching the 600m when over racing the rider was forced to take hold when SILVANNA’S SONG began to drop back through the field. As a result, the gelding was inconvenienced significantly and unable to hold its position losing ground and momentum. Failed to improve into the event from the 500m despite the best efforts of the rider to do so. Ms Heinrich said that the horse felt fine in running but just wouldn’t improved when she called on it to do so. Stewards noted her comments. A subsequent conversation with Trainer Mr W Baker revealed that he was very disappointed what had occurred and that the horse had pulled up well after the incident. Stewards noted his comments.
SILVANNA’S SONG- Approaching the 600m when in leading position put in a couple of awkward strides at that point and began to give ground, was eventually eased out of the race by Jockey C Rogers. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered with no significant findings being detected. Stewards inquired into the incident and after hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the video footage available to them, accepted Ms Rogers explanation and her concerns. It was regrettable that VERY GRATEFUL had been inconvenienced substantially, but fortunate no other horse or rider was injured when SILVANNA’S SONG was eased out of the race. No further action was taken by Stewards. Steward subsequently contacted Trainer Ms C Rogers who advised the horse had bled from both nostrils on the Sunday morning at the stables, she further advised that she would consult the connections in coming days to ascertain the mare’s racing future.
